Thank You, God, for Daddy;
He scares monsters away.

Mother's Day has come and gone but appreciating everything Mommy does can't be restricted to just one day of the year right? Well, Daddies, Amy Parker's Thank You, God, For Mommy is just what you need to get for the kids. Encourage them to sit down with Mommy and read the book aloud. Trust me....this is a winner.

E.B. Mommy's Report:

I admit I'm biased but I think this is one of the sweetest Mommy love books. This is our second Amy Parker book and like her Christmas book, the words flow beautifully in rhyme and in a way that even your 2 year old will relate to what she's saying....from the way Mommy settles "uh-ohs" and makes those "boo-boos" feel better to the way Mommy smiles to make everything ok.
Our favorite bit in the book is where she says " Thank You God for Mommy. We're just the perfect pair" ....Mmmm. Amen to that.

The Buzz:

Have you ever been the last one picked for a team?

Everyone knows what it’s like to have a bad day. And when Norbert comes home from school, he has had a really bad day. As he and his mother talk through the day's mishaps, she gently imparts The Blessing on him through spoken word, meaningful touch, attachment of high value, portraying a special future, and genuine commitment.

By the end of the book, Norbert knows he is loved, and that even if he wasn’t the first pick for the team, he will always be chosen by his parents . . . and by God.

E.B. Mommy's Report:

There have been those days when Bunny girl has come home with a heavy heart only because a certain little buddy didn't want to play with her in the playground or because she didn't get picked to play with a certain little "clique" in class. (Yes preschool classes DO have mini elite groups too. I know....that shocked me too!)

Feeling the sadness in your child's countenance is enough to pull your cheerful spirits down too but then that's where you remind yourself that as her Mommy you need to encourage her, pep up her spirit and remind her that she is so special not just to your family and the people who know her but also to God.That's why I'd Choose You has found a special place in our library.
Norton reminds me so much of my Bunny girl and I could hear myself in his Mommy. The book is simply but beautifully written. Dr John Trent handles the sensitive issue of a child's hurt emotion with love, care and encouragement and the post story assignment for us parents to write up a "Parental Blessing" to speak over our children is meaningful and special.

Get this book. Your family will be blessed!

This is the 8th of 13 Book Giveaways Hosted to Celebrate EBMR's Listing in the Top 25 Product Reviewers list on Circle Of Moms.

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

The Buzz:

Inspired by Baby's First Bible with the adorable fuzzy duck cover, this new offering for little ones, The Velveteen Bible features soft fur and a fuzzy tail!

Inside, the New King James Version scripture is accompanied by whimsical images of bunnies and other baby animals, colorful borders, and lovely sentiments from the scriptures. The Bible is packaged in a keepsake treasure box.

E.B. Mommy's Report:

I will be honest. I was excited to receive The Velveteen Bible and assumed it would be a great picture Bible for us to save for a young child this Easter. The sweet little Bunny on the front, I guess, in some way, built up an anticipation to see a Bible filled with similar pictures but this is not so.

The Bible holds a little over 8-9 illustrations and that's where the "little kids" touch ends. This "handy to carry along to church" Bible would be apt for a tween as this is a regular NKJV version Bible. (We're strong NKJV lovers in our home.) I personally think this would be too grown up for a younger child to use also because the paper used is regular wafer thin Bible paper.

This Bible includes a reading plan at the end....a great way to encourage your child to complete reading through the Bible from start to finish, in a year's time.

The Velveteen Bible retails for 22.99 US$ but you can buy this on Amazon at a reduced price of only 16.98 US$.

This is the 5th of 13 Book Giveaways Hosted to Celebrate EBMR's Listing in the Top 25 Product Reviewers list on Circle Of Moms.

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

The Buzz:

The Moon Shines Down by Margaret Wise Brown is a Mom's Choice Award Winning Book that has never been published before.

Margaret Wise Brown (1910-1952) was a pioneer of children's literature, choosing to write the stories that children wanted to hear-rather than those that grown-ups wanted to tell. She is best known for her now classic Good Night Moon and Runaway Bunny, which remain among the world's best-selling children's books.

In this book, The Moon Shines Down on children all over the world from right next door to across the sea, from where “a Dutch boy dreams” and “cowbells ring” to “across the sea in the Far, Far East”, through the familiar prayer:

I see the Moon

And the Moon sees me.

God bless the Moon,

And God bless me.

Click on this link to preview this book.

E.B. Mommy's Report:

The Moon Shines Down is sweet bedtime story in rhyme that will take your little sleepy head and the little koala around the world as the Moon shines down upon the children in Switzerland, Mexico, France, Australia, England, Africa.

This book immediately transported me back to my childhood reminding me of when my Mother would sing "I see the Moon" to me.

I also love that this is a sturdy board book that will withstand rough handling by eager little hands wanting to see Linda Bleck's
beautifully illustrated pictures with bold colors and characters (especially the little koala) with round button eyes and happy faces.

I would definitely recommend this book as one of those "warm, fuzzy" feeling books to share with your young ones.

If you've always loved those adorable little Precious Moments children then the Precious Moments Storybook Bible will be a memorable collection to get your little one.

Their interest will stay on the page as you read the delightful paraphrased stories from the International Children's Bible while they are entertained by the art that has engaged millions of children around the world.

CLOSED: Really Woolly Bible Stories Board Book (+ Giveaway)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

Tommy Nelson has a new DaySpring Publication perfect for your toddlers and little ones.

The Buzz:

Really Woolly Bible Stories is a collection of favorite Bible stories presented with the beloved Really Woolly art style to help little children discover that God is faithful and true and that Jesus, The Good Shepherd, loves them.

This case-bound padded board book from the Really Woolly brand by DaySpring makes it easy to share important stories from God’s Word with little children, while teaching them about God’s shepherd-like love for them.

Bible stories include Creation, Noah, Abraham, Moses, the Ten Commandments, Joseph, Samson, Daniel, David and Goliath, Jonah, Jesus’ Birth, Jesus Loves the Little Children, Jesus Feeds 5,000, Jesus the Good Samaritan, Jesus Walks on Water, Jesus’ Death & Resurrection, The Great Commission.

Little ones will love the charming Really Woolly illustrations.

Click on the picture below to view a Digital Flipbook of this book.

E.B. Mommy's Report:

Bunny girl is testament of the fact that reading to a baby only generates a child's interest in books as he/she grows. Thus even though Bunny Boo is still a baby, we make it a point to sit down and read books to him.

Since our soon to be 8 month old loves grabbing hold of the pages and giving them a few loving chews, the Really Woolly Bible Stories board book is a great book to withstand a teething baby's clutches!
The colorful illustrations grab his attention as we read through each story that has been aptly written in rhyme.
(I love stories in rhyme, especially for little ones, as I feel you can put in so much expression and use voice intonations to keep them enrapt in the reading session)

This is also a fun book to use with your preschooler to challenge him/her to learn rhyming words. Bunny girl and I love our rhyming-reading games. I read the first sentence and the second too, but leave out the last word in the second sentence. This encourages Bunny girl to complete the same with the apt word that also rhymes with the ending word from the first sentence.

I strongly believe our children should learn the Word of God when they're young. Using fun, colorfully illustrated, rhyming books like the Really Woolly Bible Stories board book, is a great way to encourage an interest and love for God's Word.

CLOSED: Tommy Nelson's Christmas Treasures (Christmas Carnival Giveaway #48)

This post is a 'Christmas Carnival' feature...The Carnival of Giveaways (or should I say Christmas prezzies?) on Energizer Bunny's Mommy Reports from November 1- mid December 2010.
For a list of all the live giveaways visit 'The Christmas Carnival Center'

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

Do you have any special Christmas traditions that involve reading Christmas books to your little ones?
We do!...And I love that Tommy Nelson has some Christmas Treasures that you will love to read with your little one, snuggled upon a warm couch sipping cups of hot cocoa swimming with marshmallows.

Think of a Nativity Play without angels.
It's just not possible, right?
The Christmas Story has angels from beginning to end and Gwen Ellis has re-told the story in Christmas Angels just for little ones to see how wonderfully God sends His Angels to bring His Children important news, glad tidings and warnings.

Christmas Angels is a larger sized, 24 paged Board Book with bold pictures that is perfect for little ones to hold, handle and enjoy.

If you're looking for a book that narrates the story of Jesus birth and be more than just a book, then The Christmas Baby should be on your list. Why you ask?

Well this is the only children's Christmas book I've ever seen that first welcomes your child with a 25 flap window Advent calendar and then leads your child through the events that lead to Jesus birth. The book ends like Christmas concerts do...with a memorable finale, which in this case is a beautiful Nativity Pop Up that we've put out on display at home. A sweet reminder to both young and old that Jesus is the Real (and Only) Reason that we celebrate this wonderful Season.

The King's Christmas List is our family's new favorite Christmas book for the year.

Emma and her little dog Shu-Shu were thrilled to be invited to the King’s birthday party. But what do you get a King for his birthday? Emma and Shu-Shu have no gift, but they bring the Christmas cake they made with Mom and put on their Sunday best as they dash to the King’s carriage. And of course, Emma couldn’t go anywhere without her beloved Cherry-Bear. On the way, they have encounters that lead them to bestow their cake, winter-cape, and even Cherry-Bear, on others. Now they’re chilly, rumpled, and empty-handed—what will the King think? Emma frets, but when they finally meet the King at his palace, they discover they gave the King exactly what he wanted.

Children and parents will be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas, and that the greatest gifts we can offer to the Savior are gifts to the least of his brothers and sisters (based on Matthew 25:40)
If you need a book to remind your child about why we celebrate Christmas and the importance of giving, then this book is a must to add to your child's collection and even pick up as Christmas gifts for the little ones you know.

This 32 paged book is so beautifully written and well conveyed that even Bunny girl immediately pointed out that the King was Jesus. We've been so blessed by it that we find ourselves reading it together, atleast once in every three days!

A Christmas Prayer ( An Amy Parker Book Review)

Want to reiterate what Christmas is actually all about to your
little Christmas celebrants?
Then Amy Parker's A Christmas Prayer
is the book you need to pick up.

Book Brief:

In the tradition of A Night Night Prayer, this precious little child wanders through the house on a snowy Christmas night offering a prayer of thanks and blessing. The child finishes with thanks to God for the greatest Gift of all.

Noting all the characters in the Nativity, this lovable little nighttime prayer book has interactive dialogue and soothing rhyme for a child to repeat as they look around their world at Christmastime.

Between the soft Christmas glow of the illustrations and the smooth rhythm of the child’s prayer, A Christmas Prayer will make every parent and child want to snuggle up by the tree and offer a prayer of thanks to God for His many Christmas blessings.

I love the way Amy draws in all the important people from that Christmas day through the innocently simple 'Thank you' prayer of the little girl.

As the little child ends her prayer recognizing that Christmas is more than the toys and gifts she gets and all about the best gift of all Jesus, she leaves in the reader's mind a picture of the first Christmas scene....a beautiful reminder of the reason why we truly celebrate the season.

Marlijan Ramljak's sweet illustration of the child with her disheveled short hair brought back memories of Bunny girl's second Christmas at home and the image of her kissing the baby Jesus doll in the cradle.

This soft padded board book will make a special Christmas present or pre Christmas gift for young listeners/readers.

closed: A Tommy Nelson Gigi Pack for Little Princesses (+Giveaway)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

Bunny girl is going through 'that' phrase. Now those of you with 4 year olds may know what I'm talking about.
That's right.
The 'Princess' phase!
It doesn't help that every store has the Disney Princesses falling all over the little customer as she walks in.
No, it's not that I have anything against the Disney Princesses but I'd just like my little girl to be...errr....how do I put it?.....her age and not all lost in the very 'grown up' world of fairy tales! (You know what I mean!)

Now with that off my shoulders, I just have to say at this point that I thank God for Sheila Walsh and her sensitivity to God's leading, to bring to the market a new Princess.....God's Little Princess...Gigi.

Gigi is a little girl who learns that yes, she is a Princess but not just any old Princess but the daughter of the greatest King of all....God, and that's exactly what we've been teaching Bunny girl learn too, with this great Tommy Nelson Gigi Pack for Little Princesses. This includes

What a treat for any little girl!

We love the God's Little Princess Devotional Bible. Sheila has ensured every story, every little 'Royal Truth', every 'Role Play', every 'Beauty Tip' (beautifully encourages the child to seek to develop an inner beauty as well), every 'Princess Charming' quiz (Quizzes the child on what she thinks it the right 'Princess' behavior in a particular circumstance) and every devotional revolves around the central theme of being a Princess of the Most High and yes, each woman in the Bible is referred to as a Princess.

Here's what really neat about the little notes in the Bible. There are little references to Cinderella, Snow White etc but right after they're mentioned Sheila creatively ties in how special it is to be God's Little Princess. We're slowly making our way through the Bible with Bunny girl and she loves the fact that her new Bible is 'Princess' themed. What's priceless is the smile on her face when we take our pauses while reading and remind her of how unique and precious she is and how she's the best little Princess of all....because she IS God's Little Princess.

Gigi, God's Little Princess: The Royal Tea Party book with dvd was thoroughly enjoyed. The storyline revolves around Gigi's excitement to tell her best buddy Frances the 'greatest news of all'. Gigi plans on breaking the news to Frances in many ways and finally when all else fails she decides she has to tell Frances the 'big news' in person.

We laughed from start to finish and I'm sure you will enjoy reading this through with your daughter too.
Oh and what's the 'news' you ask? Well.......
Hmmmm......
No! I won't spoil the treat in reading it for yourself....so hurry...go get The Royal Tea Party book!
((Giggle!))

Bunny girl also enjoyed playing with Gigi's Pop Up Playhouse. This hard bound book comes with Gigi and her best friend Frances in cut outs. Your daughter can dress both the girls up with the reusable sticker costumes and place them in 1 of the 4 three dimensional scenes in the book.

Bunny girl has recently developed a love for all things ballet, so you can guess which setting was her favorite!

The Bible, the book and the Royal Tea Party book and the Pop Up Playhouse make awesome gifts for any little Princess but the pack would not be complete if your little Princess couldn't play dress up. Gigi, God's Little Princess: Dress Up Kit has been thrown in to make it complete! The Dress Up Kit comes with a Royal Scepter, a Tiarra, Princess Slippers, and a Royal Pink Tutu.

Bunny girl was in 'Princess Ballerina' bliss for an entire evening much to my Hubby's dismay! (Hubby stills finds it hard to understand why little girls need to play 'Princess' 24x7!!)

So the next time you want to buy a little Princess you know, something that will bless her in a special way....consider introducing her to Gigi!
The world needs more little Princesses who know their important place in God's Heart and Plan.
