Help Teens with Bipolar Disorder and Depression

Will you help make a difference in the lives of Teens with Bipolar Disorder and Depression?

There are over 5 million U.S. youth who live with depression or bipolar disorder. Unfortunately, a very small percentage receive treatment. The Child and Adolescent Bipolar Foundation (CABF) is hoping to win a $250,000 grant from The Pepsi Refresh Project during December to raise public awareness and help more youth and their families who suffer from depression or bipolar disorder.

Youth depression and bipolar is seldom discussed. It affects 7% of all children in the U.S., yet only a small fraction receive treatment. We plan to launch an outreach campaign to inform parents about the symptoms of mood disorders and how to find help. The outreach will be accomplished via:

-Detailed Communication Plan

-Online ads

-Bi-weekly webinars

-Weekly podcasts

-Daily social networking

-150,000 brochures & 3 mailings to psychiatrists

Experienced CABF staff members will coordinate the webinars, podcasts and volunteer training. Our trained volunteer corps of 100+ around the US are ready to assist new families and youth who reach out to us in crisis. CABF has the capacity to refresh the lives of so many more youth!

DAILY VOTING METHODS

The Pepsi Refresh voting allows you to vote daily in EACH of these ways for CABF, plus you can vote for 9 other organizations each day also to spread the love!

BONUS FOR YOU - WIN AN iPAD

Looking for a unique Mommy-Kiddo activity to do in the new year?
Why don't you consider a little wheeled footwear fun with Heelys new HX2 ?!

Check out the fun you and the kids can have....

Coolio!

Heely's latest Hx2 line is testament of its innovative, patented, action, sports-oriented brand.
Unlike earlier products, the Hx2, uses two smaller, removable wheels in each shoe.

Not only is it easier to maintain balance, but wearers of the Hx2 do not require as much leg strength to lift their toes to skate.
As beginners get the hang of skating, the Hx2 can be converted into a regular pair of Heelys for a more challenging ride simply by removing one of the wheels.
It’s like training wheels for your feet!

Oh and when you tire of the wheels, don't fret about wasting a perfectly good pair of skate shoes.
You can just pop out the wheels and Voila!...
You get a snazzy pair of 'walk around' shoes!

Now tell me, who's ready to SKATE....RATTLE.....'N'.... ROLL??!!

For more Heelys Fun....

Heelys Street Skater tests your skills in an exciting and fast-paced virtual environment.

Perform tricks, coast through checkpoints and skillfully maneuver through the streets to avoid some gnarly obstacles!

CLOSED: Win 1 of 10 Sportsman Xtreme Lanterns! (An Illuminating Rayovac Giveaway- 10 winners!)

*

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

As you sit in your warm clothing, sipping a cup of hot cocoa let me give you a little nudge...a wake up call to remind you that Spring will be here in just a matter of weeks.
Are you all set to take the family on an outdoors expedition?
Not that adventurous? Well then, how about a camping trip in your backyard?
I'm sure that will be doable!

So to help you plan ahead, I have a little practical something from Rayovac that you might just want to pack before you head out for your little/long trip.

It's the Sportsman Xtreme 300 Lumens Area Lantern.

The Sportsman Xtreme Lantern is a 300 lumen, 4 watt, water resistant, compact lantern that actually stands a tad bit shorter than a half liter bottle.

The lantern head has a plastic tent hanger feature which comes in handy when you need to hang up the product when outdoors.

The lantern runs on three 'D' batteries and yes I do prefer using the Rayovac brand of batteries for two reasons- price and a longer life!

Note: The batteries are placed under the base but make sure you align the same well if you find that the base isn't clicking into position.

The Sportsman Xtreme Lantern functions in one of three modes....

It is said to run on the high mode for about 72 hours

and the low mode for 150 hours.

If you press the 'on' button for about 3 seconds, the lantern switches to the 'strobe light' mode.

Another helpful 'outdoors feature' is the tiny green LED light that flashes right above the power button when the lantern is switched off.
(This helps one find the lantern in the dark especially when camping out in the night.)

All in all I think Rayovac has done a great job in bringing into the market a practical, affordable and durable 'illuminating' outdoor companion that is anything but bulky.
Yes, this lantern is, without a doubt, a big improvement to those cumbersome lanterns your Grandpappy owned!

Buy it:

You can buy a Sportsman Xtreme 300 Lumens Area Lantern for 30 US$ on Amazon.com

Win it:

Ten readers will have the opportunity to win a Sportsman Xtreme 300 Lumens Area Lantern

Here's how you can win it:

1. Mandatory entry (without this, all other entries will be disqualified)-

Tell me what your family's favorite outdoor activity is.

Why Jesus and not Santa is the Reason for this Season!

*
I found this awesome piece last Christmas and just had to bring it back again this year as we celebrate the joys of Christmas

Why Jesus is the Reason for this Season!
(Credit: The Jesus site)

Santa lives at the North Pole ...
JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh ...
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year ...
JESUS is an ever present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies ...
JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney...
JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart when invited.

You have to wait in line to see Santa ...
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap ...
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy (or girl,) what's your name?" ...
JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly ...
JESUS has a heart full of love.

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO ...
JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says "You'd better not cry" ...
JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you."

Santa's little helpers make toys ...
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa is a "big jolly old elf"
JESUS is the King of Kings

Santa may make you chuckle but ...
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree ...
JESUS became our gift and died on a tree.

It's obvious there is really no comparison.
We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.
We need to put Christ back in CHRISTmas,
Jesus is still the reason for the season.

Yes, Jesus is better, oh so much better than Santa Claus.

From my family to yours...

Merry CHRISTmas
!

God bless!

2 more sleeps till Christmas

*
2 more sleeps till Christmas!
I know I'm such a Late Latif but I'd rather be late than never start a new tradition of baking with my little Bunny girl. We have an ambitious list of goodies we plan to whip up later this evening once Daddy comes home after work. We may not do all we want to but we will do something and have fun with it!

I hope your evening will be special, surrounded by family and loved ones.
May the beauties of this wonderful season remind you of God's Precious Gift to us, our LORD Jesus.

I ask that sometime during the evening you will stop and as a unit lift up those who are hurting this Christmas (Please especially think of Dana and her precious family) and remember those in need.

The 30 Day Giving Challenge may be officially over but your family can continue giving as the LORD leads.
Invite someone over for a Christmas meal, bake some Christmas goodies and bless on someone in a Old Persons home or just take time out to pray for somebody God places in your heart.

I pray that Christ may be alive in your heart and home this Christmas and always.
Be Blessed.

Educational Fun with Baby Einstein's Discovery Kits (Review Only)

I remember first looking at a Baby Einstein product before Bunny girl was born and I still remember thinking how smart someone was to think of creating not just toys but DVDs, books and music cds for babies and toddlers. Bunny girl has always loved music right from the time she was in my womb (She'd move every time she heard music) and I've always prayed that Bunny Boo would love music just as much as she does. Honestly I'm really not sure if he's a 'music kinda guy' yet but I'm doing what I can do to encourage and develop an interest and love for all things musical and that's why I love Baby Einstein's Discovery Kits.

The Discovery Kits have been developed keeping in mind the need to cater to a baby's three distinct levels of discovery: Experience, Explore and Expression

We had the opportunity to go through the Wild Animal Safari Discovery Kit which was perfect as Bunny girl adores animals and Bunny Boo is inquisitive when he sees anything non human, yet alive! ( Hopefully a sign of animal love in the future!)

The Wild Animal Discovery Kit is a part of the Explore series and includes a DVD that showcases animals from around the globe in their natural habitats- the jungle, savanna, forest and desert. The little viewer will enjoying watching the animals in action and be soothed with the classical music that plays in the background, wherein tempos will vary in synchronization with the animals movements.

If you find your child enjoys the music, the Baby Einstein team have recorded the musical score you see on the DVD in a single CD, so you can pop in the car while taking your little Explorer with you, on your errands.

The kit also includes 10 Discovery Cards featuring animals/scenes from the DVD and includes interesting facts for your older child to absorb.

Bunny Boo watched the DVD for a good long ten minutes at a stretch but then got a little fidgety but focused his attention to the screen again when the colorful puppets reappeared.
Bunny girl on the other hand was hooked!
So even though these kits are targeted for babies and toddlers, your preschoolers will enjoy viewing them just the same!

The first six Discovery Kits were made available exactly a month ago while the last three will be released sometime in early 2011.

This is a great way to introduce your young one to the world of music, nature, animals and arts.

Buy it:

You can buy any of one the Baby Einstein Discovery Kits for a suggested retail price of 19.99 US$.

CLOSED: JCPenney how I love thee...let me count the ways. (+100$ Gift Card Giveaway)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

Hello. My name is Marina and I'm a JCPenney-holic.

It's true!

When given a choice, I will always opt to buy clothes for our family in a store that has style, quality and smart prices....
and the one store that does give my buck a good value's worth is JCPenney.
So when I was asked to review the store I didn't need any convincing to say yes!!

Now everyone knows I love a good deal and it's very rare for me to walk away from a JCPenney (JCP) store without finding a good deal!
My favorite haunts are the Red Zone Clearance areas in the store.

I love stocking up for Bunny girl (and now Bunny Boo) when the store is getting ready to re-stock and exhibit new styles for the next season.
My shopping trip last month was incredibly successful as I was able to pick up a 3 piece Carters pajama set for my friend's 4 year old son for only 1.99 US$. I was also able to pick up this American Eagle sweater vest for Bunny Boo at 1.99 US$ (Original price 26 US$) only and several other sets for the same price.

My best Red Zone 'steal' so far has been a beautiful sleeveless black dress (that was only available in my size. Isn't God good?!). This was clearanced down from 68 US$ to 5.75 US$.
I was also really blessed to find, at the time, that the company was offering 5 US$ gift certificates for opening a JCP account, so yes I bought a formal dress for a mere 75 cents!!
Is that crazy or what?

I also love JCP's "Shop till 1pm on Saturday for additional discounts" sales (Note : This takes place on most Saturdays. You can receive 10$ off your 50$ purchase, 15$ off your 75$ purchase and 20$ off your 100$ purchase).

We bought these shirts originally priced at 9.99 US$ for 3.49 US$ a piece.

Not only are these comfortable (Bunny girl loves them) but they're also priced just right! Most of the featured shirts are several washes old and they still look as good as new.

We also found some great "warm" wear for our Texan winters.
Bunny girl picked out this lovely pink puffer vest for 9 US$ only (Originally priced at 24 US$)

while I practically picked up two sets of Carter's fleece p.j. sets for 7 US$ a set.

(You should see these in person to really appreciate the quality.)

Bunny Boo also received additions to his "winter" wardrobe with a collection of Okie Dokie's thermal and fleece coveralls at 5.20 US$ a piece. (Originally priced at 12.99 US$)

Now even though all my featured "buys" are great picks, our favorite, hands down, is Bunny girl's gorgeous Cinderella Christmas dress.

Originally priced at 64.99 US$, we bought the same (before her size got sold out) for 31.77 US$. A little steep for our liking but we fell in love with the exquisite sparkling sequin embroidery work and Bunny girl looks priceless in the same, so yes we did make a prize exception with this one!

((Whew! Shopping can get to be tiring!))

I've done most of my JCP shopping in store except for one amazing bargain I picked up with a special JCP online coupon code I received in my email early December. I used my promotion code to buy a Wednesday Deal feature- the 6 piece towel set, originally priced at 50 US$ for

....wait for it......
3.74 US$!!
(I didn't even need to pay for shipping as I opted for the ship to store option)

WOW!

If only James Cash Penney could see how his 1902 tiny store has catapulted to the honors of Retail Excellence nationwide.

As a loyal customer I can attest that the JCPenney brand has remained true to Mr Penney's "Golden Rule" and will one day surely become America's number 1 shopping destination for discovering great styles at compelling prices!

((Sigh))
It's so easy to love JCPenney.
If I only began to count the different things I love about JCP, I'm sure I will run out of fingers and toes!

Win it:

One reader will have the opportunity to win a 100 US$ JC Penney gift card that may be used online towards anything on the site or in the store.

Here's how you can win it:

1. Mandatory entry (without this, all other entries will be disqualified)-

CLOSED: At Home with Plow and Hearth (+ 75$ Gift certificate Giveaway)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

It all began in the humble beginnings of a small retail store in Virginia in the year 1980. Today, 30 years later, Plow & Hearth is a trusted national catalog, retail, and internet company specializing in unique, enduring home and lifestyle products that are quality-built and guaranteed to meet their customer's expectations.
I have spent a few days cyber-window shopping on the site to find one product, within the specified budget, that I thought would be the best to review.
Now believe me it's hard to pick just one product from the Plow & Hearth site especially when you see this Bamboo Bench that would be perfect to place outdoors

or these unique saddle seat stools to pull up, say when you have an extra guest or two over.

I also contemplated bringing life to an empty wall in our living room with this unique wall art

or color to our beige carpeted floor with this washable (yes key word here!) Spring Glade rug

((Whew!))

It took a while and a lot of narrowing down and scratch offs before we (yes, Hubby had to be roped into the decision making process) finally decided that we'd choose the Classic Table Lamp with a sage fabric swatch to bring a little light (and life) into a specific corner in our living room.

I have to admit that I was a little worried that the shade would come in dented but the team at Plow & Hearth ensured both came intact when they packed and paper packaged the stand and the shade in separate boxes.

I'm thrilled with our pick as the lamp looks much more subtle and elegant than the picture on the site and has just filled in the emptiness that specific segment in the room once had.

I've worked with the Plow & Hearth extensions on earlier occasions and each instance I've noted quality in the products I've received, promptness in delivery, great customer service and the readiness to help find a solution to any problems I've had.

Would I recommend shopping with them?
Without a doubt!
Like me you will find that you will surely be at home with Plow & Hearth.

Buy it:

You can buy a Classic Table Lamp similar to the one I received at a reduced price of 69.99 US$ (Original price: 89.95 US$)

Order by December 21 8 pm EST and you will have this express delivered to you by Christmas Day. Order by December 22, 8 pm EST and you will receive this by Christmas, via next day air. (Check the site for shipping charges)

Win it:

One reader will have the opportunity to win a 75 US$ Plow & Hearth gift certificate that may be used towards anything on the site.

Here's how you can win it:

1. Mandatory entry (without this, all other entries will be disqualified)-
