Amy Knapp's Christian Family Organizer Review and Giveaway (BTSC- Day 31)

With growing children in the house, all you Moms know how crazy it can get to sometimes make sure you have all the must dos charted out, all the must buys stocked in the pantry and on top of that remember to drop a line wishing your Aunt who lives 300 miles away for her birthday. To remind yourself that you need to get all this done, you have close to 15 little scraps of paper stashed away in your big bulky handbag and you know you have it all under control .....till you get to the store and have to pull out a trough full of contents from an overflowing bag, just to look for that tiny scrap of paper with your 'To Do' list!!

Been there? Gone through that? ....I have!!( on more than one occasion!) The best part is you always manage to find all the scraps of paper possible EXCEPT the one with the list you need.....Aaaargh!!!

Anyways, the past is behind us ladies! Amy Knapp has the solution for our present and our future....woo-hoo!!! Thanks to Amy you now have the Christian Organizer Spiral Bound.

Oh I have an Organizer, why do I need another one?

For this one simple reason that your other organizers don't have a Bible verse on every page. From experience you will remember, there have been times when you are out of steam and rushing through the chaos of a day when you happen to glance at a verse of encouragement on your table top and immediately that has lifted your spirits and given you the zeal to get through the rest of the day, peaceful and happy.

You know that your strongly brewed cuppa has at the most just kept you awake but not really quietened the busy rush-rush feel inside you but when you've read a verse out of the Word of God that has done wonders.

Amy has created this organizer keeping our need for encouragement foremost in mind and at the same time has ensured we have a clearly outlined schedule by the week.

You have a perforated column for your grocery lists for the week (This means you can tear off the column if you just want to carry out the shopping list) , a segment for your important 'To-Do' errands and even a margin to jot down your menus for each day. (How much more organized could this get?)

You also have the regular date wise divisions where you can not only list out the activities for the day but also birth dates, anniversary reminders and more special occasion markers. My favorite part though, is the little section to list down prayer AND praise points. (This is so neat especially when you look through older pages and read through various praise points....it encourages you so much when you think of how awesomely God answers prayers)...love it!

At the end of the Organizer you even have a sheet of color coded stickers for particular events, a brief planning calendar for the year 2011, blank ruled sheets to jot down additional notes, a family budget planner, baby sitter information, information about your kids and contact information sheets for address and telephone numbers of family and friends. (You practically have it all in here!)

Amy has really put a great deal of thought, heart and prayer into creating this beautiful organizer that spans from July 2009-December 2010. Conveniently sized (8 3/8" x 6") to carry along in a handbag and spiral bound (making page flips easy), at 14.99$, this is a great buy!
(Offer: If you buy 2 Organizers, you will get the second for 5$ only.)

See Kai Run Review and Giveaway (BTSC-Day 30)

Finding the perfect pair of shoes for your child is well...nothing less than a herculean task! You need something that grips the sole well, that is comfortable yet roomy enough for his/her foot to grow out a bit and something that helps support the arch. Oh and how can I forget....it needs to be a shoe that looks trendy and different. Buying shoes for children is especially hard as your little one just can't express what he/she feels with the shoe on!

Cause Haun faced exactly the same shoe struggles while shopping for the perfect footwear for her son Kai. After several unproductive shopping scouts later, she and her husband decided to develop their own line of kids footwear that not only shouted out personality but also boosted the healthy development of little feet. In 2004, the first See Kai Run line was birthed.

See Kai Run shoes are made with ultra flexible soles, butter soft sheepskin leather uppers and wide toe boxes. The shoes have been stamped with the American Podiatric Medical Association's prestigious seal of approval. Earlier this month, See Kai Run shoes have been named one of 2009's most outstanding products by iParenting. (A division of Disney's Interactive Media Group)

Why choose See Kai Run ? In the words of the experts themselves....

Healthy Fit

  • Very flexible soles are healthy for developing feet.
  • Wide opening and toe box accommodate even the chubbiest little feet.
  • Velcro closure allows for adjustable fit and easy on and off.
  • Leather lining is breathable and durable.
  • Padded collar adds comfort and helps our shoes stay on little feet.

Quality Construction

  • Leather used for our footwear meets the most stringent available U.S. and international guidelines.
  • Sheepskin leather uppers are butter-soft and more durable by weight than cow leather used by many other brands.
  • Durable construction and rubber sole stand up to heavy play indoors and out.

Urban Style

  • Hip, urban styles in modern color palettes.
  • Bold designs and detailing.
  • Modern takes on classic styles.

When we were asked to pick a shoe for Bunny girl to review, I secretly wished I could shrink her feet to a smaller size as some of the patterns I really loved were only available in a smaller size. After 2 days of debating between 3 designs, we finally picked Brenna.

I love that these shoes are leather based with strong flexible soles especially with my energetic, all over the place in a few seconds, Energizer Bunny. The velcro strap ons are strong and easy for Bunny girl to put on and take off by herself. I love that the design is unique and not a replica of a shoe we'd find off the Target shelf. Yes the shoes are a little on the pricey side but then instead of buying 2 pairs of shoes in a 6 month time span, you can buy 1 quality pair that you know will withstand the vigorous activity your little one will put his/her shoes through. (And considering shoes for the wee folk... well the shoes will be savers especially as the shoes won't be put through all the activity!)

I strongly believe that a good pair of shoes is a must for tiny growing feet and See Kai Run definitely gets my recommendation for choice!

Win it:

One reader will win a pair of shoes from either the See Kai Run line (6mos-3 yrs) OR the Smaller line.(0-18 mos)

Here's how you can win it
:

1. Mandatory entry (without this, all other entries will be disqualified)-

Visit the See Kai Run site and leave a comment, telling me which style you thought caught your eye. (Remember, the style you choose would be the one you get if you win....so choose carefully :>)

Additional BTSC entries:

- 2. Become a fan of See Kai Run on facebook.

- 3. Subscribe to my blog (remember you need to activate the subscription if you subscribe via email) or Follow my blog & leave a comment stating that you subscribe or follow.

The influence of school

Every night before we go to bed, we all take turns in praying for our loved ones and various needs. It has officially been a week since Bunny girl first started school and the influence is already pretty strong.

Since the past two nights, we have a new drill, thanks to little 'Miss Preschooler' . Before one of us start praying, Bunny girl's little voice pipes up "Whoever wants to pray, must raise up their hand." The first time this happened Hubby and I found this most hilarious and burst into laughter. Bunny girl was not amused!

We thought after our giggles, we could continue with prayer but the little teacher in the house would have it no other way but the school way! Again she repeated herself, slowly but more emphatically "Whoever wants to pray, must raise up their hand."

Hubby and I looked at each other and realized Bunny girl meant business! We quietly bowed down our heads , folded our hands for prayer, closed our eyes and slowly my hand went up in request. I didn't dare open my eyes lest I let out a little giggle and get a time out....I just began to pray but as I did a quiet thought crept up in my head....."This is only the beginning you have a whole lifetime of school to deal with, so brace yourself for more!"

CLOSED: Zojirushi Mini Bento Review and Giveaway (BTSC- Day 29)

The winner for this giveaway has been chosen by Random.org and is announced
on this post

Zojirushi Corporation began it's manufacturing plant in the year 1918 and with its foundation, set an industry standard for new vacuum insulation technology in an everyday kitchen appliance. The past 80 odd years have seen innovative products introduced to a rich line of kitchen appliances and accessories

This picture just says it all! (Click the picture to view a larger sized image)

We received a stainless thermal mini bento and I fell in love with it as it reminded me of the regular stainless steel tiffin carriers kids (and adults) use to take their lunches in, back home in India.

(I know some of you may not be sure what a tiffin carrier looks like, so here's a picture I got off the web for reference )

The mini bento, though, is a better looking and more colorful lunch carrier!

It includes a vacuum insulated main bowl, 2 smaller bowls, a pair of chopsticks (in case you feel the urge to be a little la-dee-dah!!) and a pretty little bag to hold all your lunch ware inside.

Don't believe that all this stuff can actually fit into that tiny bag? Well, take a look and see....

The main lunch bowl is vacuum insulated, which means it can keep food hot (or even keep store it cold) inside the bowl for upto 6 hours.

The main bowl can hold upto 6.7 oz of food, while the smaller bowls can hold upto 5.6 oz of food, each. All bowls are microwaveable.

The Zojirushi mini bento can be bought off stores online and on site.
(A quick heads up, the green mini bento is on sale on Amazon for 38.13$ - price slash from 52$)

Win it:

One reader will win their choice of a mini bento

OR a ms bento.

Here's how you can win it:

1. Mandatory entry (without this, all other entries will be disqualified)-

Leave a comment, telling me whether you would choose a
mini bento
or a ms bento.

Additional BTSC entries:

- 2. Visit the Zojirushi site and tell me what other products interest you.

CLOSED: How to Photograph your Baby DVD Review and Giveaway (BTSC-bonus)

The winner for this giveaway has been chosen by Random.org and is announced
on this post

I have just finished watching Nick Kelsh's How to Photograph Your Baby DVD and right after I finishing posting this review I want to run and get my camera and put into action all that I just learnt.

How to Photograph Your Baby is a must-have dvd for every parent who wants to capture the timeless moments in their child's life not any old way BUT beautifully! I'm sure you want to look back on well captured, professional looking pictures of your children years from now and not those red eyed pictures or the ones of little spots in a huge busy looking backgrounds. (Sigh...I have my share of such pictures of Bunny girl too!) We can't turn back time to redo all those moments but we can change the way we photograph our children today. We can make the pictures of the present and the future mini masterpieces of our precious children.

Who better to guide us on how to photograph right, than acclaimed photographer and author of nine great books- Nick Kelsh.

Nick takes the viewer through the basic essentials for capturing a classic photograph in clear and totally understandable terms. Nick's advice plays around three crucial elements- natural light, close-up angles and a point and shoot digital camera...that's it!

(Click this link to watch a few snippets from the dvd)

What I love about the dvd is the simplicity with which the art of beautiful photography is explained by a master. I especially love the way Nick says he doesn't intend to make you a professional photographer but only encourages you to enjoy your classic rights of parenthood-the right of photographing your baby...and over time this right will slowly develop into a long cherished relationship with photography.

Oooh....I'm tempted to reveal all but honestly, I really think you should watch the dvd to enjoy the learning process with Nick Kelsh and prepare to photograph with a difference!

CLOSED: DreamSacks Review and Giveaway (BTSC- Day 28)

The winner for this giveaway has been chosen by Random.org and is announced
on this post

When Nancy Morgan, her husband Larry and their daughter Chelsea lived overseas, they'd travel extensively around Asia. Many times their travels would involve questionable sleeping conditions, so to ensure they were comfortable, Nancy, a teacher by profession, sewed sheets together to make their rest comfortable. Over time, remembering her travels to China and their extensive use of silk, she realized silk would be a better option in terms of fabric feel, weight (lighter) and thermodynamics. Soon the first DreamSack was created!

Today the DreamSacks portfolio is rich with clothes for women, men, babies, bedding, bath and other accessories.

What makes a DreamSacks product different?

2 words- natural fibers! DreamSacks products are only made with natural fibers- no mixes, no artificial blends..just pure fibers like bamboo (I know, my first reaction was "WHAT?" too), silk, soy (wow!) and cashmere. (The bamboo and the soy really surprised me..that's as natural as it can get!).

A DreamSacks product has another unique attribute- all products are light in weight.

I was sent a beautiful, classy, black silk and cashmere tunic. I was amazed at how light the tunic was and the material was soft and comfortable on the skin....aaaah!

You've heard of Pashmina...but have you heard of Pashbu?

Pashbu is actually your bamboo version of a Pashmina! (100% Viscose from bamboo.) This is a great accessory to drape on even during hot sultry summer evenings as the material is light weight and the use of bamboo, a natural fiber, ensures you don't get all sticky and sweaty with use.

Pashbu is a member of the DreamSacks Bamboo Dreams line that is manufactured from sustainably harvested bamboo reserves in China . Every DreamSacks product is free from chemical residue and is created using Azo-free low impact dyes.

Win it:

One reader will win their choice of a unique Pashbu.

CLOSED: Zutano Review and Giveaway (BTSC- Day 27)

The winner for this giveaway has been chosen by Random.org and is announced on this post

Welcoming a baby into this world is one of the most beautiful things to experience. Holding your newborn in your arms, you look down into those beautiful sparkling little eyes and you know you want to give your precious gift from God the best that you can afford. You know each time you went shopping, you'd pick only the nicest looking clothes that were possible with the budget in hand.

Today with so many clothing brands out there, its sometimes hard to find something different from the regular designs for your baby. One store that stands out, though, is Zutano. The creative product of a gifted designer and art director Uli and her professional photographer husband Michael, the Zutano brand is without a doubt colorful, wearable, stylish and unique.

Zutano's latest project- the Itzy Bitzy boutique is a line dedicated to your precious newborns, catering particularly to lower birth weight babies. Sizes fit 4-8 lb babies and 9- 13 lb babies. (Isn't that great? You don't need to make your baby wear clothes he/she floats around in)

I remember shopping for Bunny girl when she was a few weeks old- solid colors, pastel shades, cute animal prints and that's it. The choice was not vast but take a look at the bold prints and fun designed newborn clothes you can find at Zutano.

Tres chic, right? The Zutano Itzy Bitzy line has also been created with 'easy access points' to accommodate hospital procedures like IV connects and medical device connects etc, especially as many premature babies tend to go through several hospital visits and stay ins the first couple of weeks after their birth. All garments are made with 100% interlocked cotton, making the fabric soft and comfortable for a child to wear

As you know, I don't have a teeny tiny baby...just my 3.5 year old Bunny girl! Zutano was kind to send her one of their trademark bold print dresses for review. The first thing I did was rub the dress on my cheek....soft!!! It's a tad bit big for Bunny girl right not so I didn't make her wear it for a photograph...but here's what her 'happy, floral print with a difference' dress looks like...

Did I mention the fabric is so soft ? ( ;>)

Zutano is a well known name in the clothing world. With over 15 individual design styles to its credit and an established seal of approval since the past 20 years of its existence, you just can't go wrong when you pick up a Zutano piece for a preemie or a 4 year old.
