A Princess Turns 5

Five years ago, God blessed us with a beautiful daughter.

Her infectious laughter, generous heart, loving spirit, steadfast faith in God, witty intellect, wacky sense of humor and bubbly chatter continues to fill each day of our lives with so much joy.

Happy Birthday Princess!

You mean the world to us and even as we celebrate you today, I'm reminded of a post I wrote 2 years ago in your honor.

Have You Noticed

Have you noticed....

When your baby is born you love holding and cuddling her but more than anything you just can't wait to have her toddling around?

Once she's able to hold onto things and move around with a little help, you can't wait to see her move around independently?

Now that your baby is a little girl who walks, jumps, skips, hops and runs all over the place.......don't you wish she could go back to being the 'in one place only' little baby ?

Have you noticed....

When your little girl is awake, full of beans and all set for a new adventure every moment, you really wish she would fall asleep?

And when she is asleep...you really wish she would get up and bring life into your 'now quiet' world?

Have you noticed....

When your little one started speaking her own little language, you really wished she would be able to communicate in a language everyone could understand?

Now that she is a little chatterbox and the official family newspaper (eek!)...don't you wish there could be more moments like Zzzzzzz?

Have you noticed....

It's not always the best thing to have your kids feed themselves?

Have you noticed....

Sometimes helping is not always helpful? (Especially when you notice you have more dirt piles scattered around the house!)

Have you noticed....

If it had not been for our little treasures, our lives would not be complete nor would every moment be filled with excitement?

Yes there are those "aaaaaargh" tantrum days and "I don't want to eat" days (I know there are more but lets not get ourselves stressed!) but they're only tiny specks in the beautiful masterpiece memories our children create for us.

Bunny girl is our gift from Heaven (*), our special prayed for child. True some days are more tiring and grueling than others but honest to God, I wouldn't trade being a parent for anything in the world....no matter what craziness lies in store for me tomorrow!!

Emily's Family Needs Your Help

Some of you may know Shannon from Coupon Mommy of 3. This precious little girl is Shannon's 3 year old daughter Emily, who took ill on December 18, 2010. Symptomatically she looked like she had a bad stomach flu but several tests down the line the family received the shattering news that Emily has Stage IV cancer.

Parent's Prayer

When we went to meet Bunny girl's new teachers two days before school reopened, we were all given this beautiful prayer along with all the other school musts for the year. It blessed my heart and I knew I had to share it with all of you. I pray it may minister to you as it did to me.

The Parent's Prayer

O Heavenly Father, make me a better parent.
Teach me to understand my children, to listen patiently to what they have to say,
and answer all their questions kindly.
Keep me from interrupting them or contradicting them.
Help me to be as courteous to them as I want them be to me.
Forbid that I should ever laugh at their mistakes, or resort to shame or ridicule.
May I never punish them out of anger or spite to show my power.
Help me, dear Lord, to demonstrate all that I say and do that honesty does produce happiness.
Reduce, dear Lord, the meanness in me. And when I am out of sorts, help me, to hold my tongue.
May I be ever mindful that my children are merely children and that I should not expect them to have the maturity and judgment of adults.
Let me not rob them of the opportunity to do things for themselves or to make their own decisions.
Help me to grant them all reasonable requests and give me the courage to deny them the privileges that I think may be harmful.
Help me to be fair and just and kind, O Lord, so that I will earn their love and respect and they will want to imitate me. This is the supreme compliment.

Wordless Wednesday - See you soon Bunny Boo!

My darling Bunny Boo,

Soooo close.

Today I stand 9 days away from my expected due date which means you can get here any day now.
Your big sister just can't wait for you to arrive but she has one teeny tiny request...could you stay inside till she finishes her 1st end of year preschool performance on the 20th?
I know Mama can watch it all on video but you know how much it would mean for your big sister to have me there in person.
Please....pretty please.
Bunny girl has been talking to God about this every day, so I don't know what He has planned ahead but just know this.....
We can't wait to see you.

See you soon my little squirmy Bunny.

Just a few more days and there will be more space to move your strong limbs around outside...

The Alphabet Prayer

Yesterday afternoon during a meeting in church our Pastor shared this beautiful little story of a child in prayer and I know it touched the hearts of all of us present. This morning I tried looking the story up on Google and found a similar version...just as powerful. I pray this may bless your heart as it did mine.

The Alphabet Prayer

Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged with man. Now the story goes, a little shepherd boy was watching his sheep one Sunday morning and he heard the bells of the church ringing. And watching the people walk along the pasture where he was, he happened to think to himself, "I would like to communicate with God! But, what can I say to God?"
He had never learned a prayer. So, on bended knee, he began to recite the alphabet....
A,B,C,D,E,F,G.........

Repeating this 'prayer' several times, a man passing by, heard the boy's voice and peaked through the bushes. He saw the young boy kneeling with folded hands, eyes closed, repeating the alphabet.

He interrupted the boy. "What are you doing, my little one?" he asked. The boy replied, "I was praying sir." The man seemed surprised and said, "But why are you reciting the alphabet?"
The boy explained, "I don't know any prayers, sir. But I want God to take care of me, and to help me care for my sheep. And so I thought, if I said all I knew, He could put the letters together into words, and He would know all that I want and should say!"

The man smiled and said, "Bless your heart, God will!" And he went on to church knowing full well that he had heard the finest sermon he could possibly hear that day.

Maybe if we thought like little children and let God put together the letters, what we should want, and what we should say, things would probably work out a lot better than we planned!!!

The influence of school

Every night before we go to bed, we all take turns in praying for our loved ones and various needs. It has officially been a week since Bunny girl first started school and the influence is already pretty strong.

Since the past two nights, we have a new drill, thanks to little 'Miss Preschooler' . Before one of us start praying, Bunny girl's little voice pipes up "Whoever wants to pray, must raise up their hand." The first time this happened Hubby and I found this most hilarious and burst into laughter. Bunny girl was not amused!

We thought after our giggles, we could continue with prayer but the little teacher in the house would have it no other way but the school way! Again she repeated herself, slowly but more emphatically "Whoever wants to pray, must raise up their hand."

Hubby and I looked at each other and realized Bunny girl meant business! We quietly bowed down our heads , folded our hands for prayer, closed our eyes and slowly my hand went up in request. I didn't dare open my eyes lest I let out a little giggle and get a time out....I just began to pray but as I did a quiet thought crept up in my head....."This is only the beginning you have a whole lifetime of school to deal with, so brace yourself for more!"

Fearfully and wonderfully made

This Sunday I attended my first every baby shower at church and thought every bit of it was so beautiful. The Mommy to be was radiant, the decor perfect, the food delicious and the games fun. (I have to add...the company at my table was the best!)

Through it all I just kept thinking of Bunny girl and the countdown to her arrival. I still remember it like it was yesterday.....it was March 8th 2006, past 1 am when I started spotting and we decided it was probably time we rushed to the hospital. (We were still based in India at the time)Fortunately the hospital was only 5 minute's away...so we hopped onto Hubby's bike( I can hear you all say "WHAAAAT?") and rushed to get examined. The Doc checked me and said we needed to wait till I dilated several centimeters more and suggested we wait in the hospital as it could happen anytime. It was only post 9 pm much later that day that the labor pains actually kicked in. Honestly till you go through it, noone can ever prepare you for what's up ahead!!!

Contractions drew closer and closer together only past 3.30 am March 9th and by 7.15 am, my awesome Doc started to get a little concerned. She said the sac fluid was slightly stained which meant the baby could start swallowing the meconium, which meant they needed to rush me in for a C Section especially as I hadn't dilated enough.

At this point I need to hold this story and let you know that there were 3 things I really prayed out to the Lord from the beginning of my pregnancy....
1. I wanted a natural delivery
2. I wanted my husband to be by my side when our first child entered this world(At this particular hospital spouses are not permitted to attend their offsprings birth...why?.. I have no idea!)
3. I never wanted to experience any bouts of morning sickness
The Lord was so faithful to fulfill my heart's desire for number 3....but what about number 1 and number 2?

To continue... I was rushed to the operating theatre,yelling my lungs out. I didn't care a hoot who saw me, who heard me. I just yelled as loud as I could. I was in pain and the world had to know!!! (much to the embarrassment of my darling Hubby who at that point was a senior therapist in the hospital's Physical Therapy wing. I'm sure he must have received enough looks of sympathy from aghast onlookers!)

In the OT, I remember seeing my Hubby's eyes above the mask and thanked God again (He handled number 2) In the confusion of rushing into the OT and the seriousness of the situation, he rushed in too and told the Doc, "There's no way I'm leaving her like that"....and who would argue him out at that point?...they needed to save the baby!

The anesthetist got ready to administer the dose to prepare me for a C Section when the Doc shouted, "Wait, there's another strong contraction coming" and there, in the luxury of a spotlessly clean, airconditioned OT room, our princess Bunny girl arrived. (Thank you Lord....You bagged all 3!) The first few seconds seemed endless as we waited to hear our little girl and as soon as she let out a few weak wails everyone breathed a huge sigh of relief.

God was so Faithful....He fulfilled all my heart's desires.....and we had a beautiful little girl, a precious gift from Him, created and fashioned in His Image, for His Glory.

ur promised child. She fills our lives with so much joy and each time I think back to the time of her birth I have to stop and thank God for His Goodness and Grace. His Arms of Protection brought her safely into this world, healthy and beautiful in every way.

I look at her today and say, with all my heart " I will praise You Lord, for Bunny girl is truly fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well." (Ref: Psalm 139:14)
