CLOSED:Douglas Cuddle Toys....Cuddles, Fun n More!(+ Giveaway)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

To survive successfully in a gift and toy industry for 50 years is no easy feat but Douglas Toys has managed to carve a niche in the market, that is irreplaceable.

The Buzz:

Their kids toys are one of a kind
unique designs with the most endearing expressions and made with only high quality materials and the best craftsmanship there is.

Shopping with Douglas is a treat!

Where else would you find cuddly toy dinosaurs, adorable plush dogs,

Sillo Purses (your little girl will love this 'hep' little girl's toy purse) and Lil' Snugglers....

all under the same roof?

E.B. Mommy's Report:

Our home has cuddly toys literally crawling out of the woodwork and though I would've loved to happily add to the collection, I decided we'd go practical and pick a fun bath towel instead.

I'd recently got a cute pink cat towel for Bunny girl so to keep the pink cat company, we chose the blue dog towel for Bunny Boo.

This 28 inch plush, absorbent, cotton towel has the cutest puppy dog applique that serves as the towel's hood.

Now Bunny Boo is 9 months old but is about as tall as an average sized 11 month old. The towel would serve its purpose for only another month or so, before he grows to be a little too big to be covered completely by the same.

Considering this, I decided not to use the towel for just a month but instead plan to give it to a friend who is expecting her baby boy in two weeks time. I know she will enjoy wrapping her little one in this lovely towel for a good several months.
(Oh yes!....A unique and practical baby shower gift!)

I do hope the months ahead will see a line developed for toddlers and preschoolers too. I know I'd grab a green frog, a blue dog and a pink dog for my two.
Imagine how cute a giraffe towel would look or perhaps even a bright red ladybug one!

Buy it:

You can buy any animal fun towel for 26.25 US$.

CLOSED: We Arrrr Pirates: A Backyardigans DVD (+ Giveaway)-3 winners

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

Nickelodeon Home Entertainment brings We Arrrr Pirates: A Backyardigans DVD into your home, this March 8, 2011.

The Buzz:

This 98 minute DVD features four swashbuckling episodes....

Pirate Camp

Captain Austin trains Uniqua and Pablo at Pirate Camp with garage-band music blasting. But training takes a turn for the worst when a fearsome ghost (Tasha) captures the great pirate captain.

Pirate Treasure

Captain Uniqua and Captain Austin sail the high seas in search of treasure with reggae playing. If they don’t beat Captain Pablo and Captain Tyrone to it, they will have to walk the plank!

Sinbad Sails Alone

Set sail for adventure and mambo as Sinbad (Tyrone) encounters rough waters, Siren (Uniqua), and Medusa (Tasha)! The fate of the ship is in bumbling First Mate Pablo’s hands.

The Tale of the Not-So-Nice Dragon

The Not-So-Nice Dragon snatches up King Pablo and his Mighty Knights. Now it’s up to the Flighty Fairy (Tasha) and the Grabbing Goblin (Austin) to rescue them!

E.B. Mommy's Report:

Bunny girl is not big on "Pirates" but does like the Backyardigans, so though she loves watching the five little buddies go on their "imagination adventures", this DVD wasn't one of her favorites. On the flip side, if your child loves "adventure on the high seas",a lot of "Arrrrs" and yes, the occasional "plank walking", then this may be a fun DVD to watch.

I do understand that the episodes featured have been aired before so it may be a little disappointing if you are looking to buy this for some new "Backyardigans-Pirate" excitement.

Buy it:

You can pre-order We Arrrr Pirates: A Backyardigans DVD on Amazon at a reduced price of 12.99 US$. (Original Price: 16.99 US$)

Win it:

CLOSED: Timmy Time:Timmy Steals The Show (+DVD Giveaway)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

If you've never seen Timmy Time and you love Shaun the Sheep, then Hit Entertainment and Lionsgate Production's latest release Timmy Time:Timmy Steals The Show should not be missed.

The Buzz:

Remember the cute baby in the Shaun the Sheep series? Well that little sheep has grown up to be a preschooler and comes to fill your living room with bleats, bleats and more bleats. Timmy is a little live wire and a more vocal and active mini version of Shaun who seems to easily find trouble wherever he goes!

Timmy and his little animal buddies star in these five highly animated episodes:
  • Timmy Steals the Show
  • Timmy’s Picnic
  • Timmy Brings a Smile
  • Timmy Can’t Dance
  • Timmy Says Sorry
Fun, laughter and surprises take center stage when Timmy performs groovy dance moves, genuine acts of kindness, and also learns the true meaning of saying "I'm sorry."

You will find that your child will be able to relate to each episode as the producers have managed to role play each character around some preschooler he.she knows! I think that's what makes Timmy a big favorite with our little ones.

Enjoy chuckling along to the bleats, clucks, quacks and oinks and if your child is anything like my Bunny girl, then be prepared to hear the theme song being sung morning, noon and night!

(And when you lie down in bed, the infectious theme song will pop out of nowhere and gnaw your 'night-night' away!....Believe me when I say I'm talking from experience!)

This 45 minute DVD also includes a sing-along bonus feature.

(Thanks to Andrea Blain Public Relations we received these dvds to preview.)

CLOSED: Flavorlicious, Creamy, Yummy Goodness....Coffee-Mate! (Gift Pack + 50$ GC Giveaway

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

When Hubby and I said "I Do", not only did we get married to each other but we also reaffirmed our mutual love for coffee in a big way!
Steaming hot, milky coffee (Don't give me any Espresso or Cafe minus lait please!)
The more milk, the better....Mmmm....Just the way I love it!

Somewhere along the line our tastes were won over by a well brewed cup of Masala Chai (Indian Tea spiced with cardamom) and for the next 4 years or so, our loyalties changed in a big way.
That is, till about a week ago....
And it all had to do with a generous pool of Coffee-Mate's Italian Sweet Creme in an otherwise mundane cup of morning coffee.

The Buzz:

When you talk about a non dairy creamer, the 1965 pioneer in this product line is Nestle's Coffee-Mate.

This non dairy, lactose free, Kosher, milk derivative, gluten free creamer is available in powder form

or in its more popular, liquid form.

What makes Coffee-Mate a leader in its market is the diverse flavor options you can pick your creamer in. From Belgian Chocolate Coffee, Creme Brulee and Tiramisu to some seasonal tinglers like Peppermint Mocha and Pumpkin Spice....Oh My!

E.B. Mommy's Report:

We picked the Hazelnut and Italian Sweet Creme to sample and I have to confess that I'm in love with my mug of coffee again. Hubby is a little concerned that I haven't made myself a cup of tea in the past three days and even when I did make a cup the other day, I sneaked in some Italian Sweet Creme instead of a spoonful of sugar. (Honestly it tastes great even with tea!)

Because I'm still nursing Bunny Boo, I make sure my cuppa is filled with milk and only tinged with coffee powder, so the fact that my Italian Sweet Creme is not milk based doesn't really bother me.

What's exciting is that there's more that you can do with your Coffee-Mate. Baffled? Well, how does Dessert sound to you?

I'm motivated to try making these rich Hazelnut Chocolate Custards over the weekend

and if they turn out to be as delicious as they look then Tiramisu, you're next!

Win it:

One reader will have the opportunity to win a fabulous Coffee-Mate Gift Pack that will include

  • 2 free Coffee-Mate coupons
  • A Coffee-Mate apron
  • A Coffee-Mate mug
  • 3 Yankee Candles and
  • 50 US$ Sur La Table Gift Card. (This is such an awesome site!)

Here's how you can win it:

1. Mandatory entry (without this, all other entries will be disqualified)-

If you had to pick one flavor to be in your first mug of coffee for the day, which one would you pick?

CLOSED: General Mills Goes Retro....4th Year In A Row (+ Retro Pack + Target Gift Card Giveaway)- 5 winners

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

For the fourth year in a row, by popular demand....

General Mills' Cereals are back with a "blast from the past" with "Retro" packaging, designs and cartoons from the 50s, 60s and 70s, carried exclusively in Target stores nationwide till mid March 2011 or till supplies last.

The Buzz:

This year, the packaging was chosen based on a national survey conducted by General Mills, which asked consumers to pick their favorite Retro package designs. The top packages chosen include Cheerios (1956), Trix (1968), Honey Nut Cheerios (1984), Cinnamon Toast Crunch (1984) and Lucky Charms (1989).

Consumers were also asked to share thoughts and opinions about their childhood memories of breakfast cereals, including favorite characters, promotions, prizes, cartoon characters and shows. Many identified rings, submarines and cars as favorite promotions on cereal packages; most preferred prizes over games and favorite Big G cereal characters were Lucky the Leprechaun, the Trix Rabbit and Buzz from Honey Nut Cheerios.

The package promotion on each of the cereal boxes features Retro cartoons. For more "Retro" fun, consumers can go to www.grocerysavvy.com and view some cartoons from the past, while enjoying a fun morning with family and friends over breakfast.

Some Retro Fun Facts:

Did you know that in....

1956, Gas was only 22 cents a gallon? (Wow! Time machine lets go!!)

In 1968, Mattel's Hot Wheels Toy Cars were first introduced. (Are they really that old?)

In 1984, stonewashed jeans, the Apple Macintosh and the Space Shuttle Discovery, all did their maiden launches!

In 1989, the Berlin Wall came tumbling down.

And in all those "landmark" years, General Mills cereals was a breakfast favorite in many homes....and continues to be a favorite today!

As a hard core Honey Nut Cheerios lover, I have to confess "Retro" or not, the little Buzz will always have my Mommy vote.

Come on! With 100% natural grain oats and oat bran, perfectly coated with just the right amount of honey, each crispy Cheerio is low in fat, delicious and healthy, healthy, healthy!

A total win-win 'anytime of the day' EB Mommy 'munchie'. Oh yeah!

CLOSED: My Sandals' Got Pizzazz! (+ A Sanuk Giveaway)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

Talk about being innovative!....In 1997, Jeff Kelley decided to develop a line of footwear out of inner tubes and inner outdoor carpet.
That's right flip flops, beach sandals and surf sandals for guys, gals and the kiddos.... Sanuk !

The Buzz:

The Thai word "Sanuk" means fun and that's what the line of footwear radiates....

FUNk

and

FUNctionality!

Creatively inspired yet thoughtfully designed products for the global outdoor community, that's Sanuk for you.

E.B. Mommy's Report:

Browsing through the site, I was drawn towards the "bling" cum "casual" look the Ibiza Monaco radiated but I was still a little unsure about the physical product, even as I ordered the same.

Thankfully my doubts were replaced with a smile when my embellished women's sandals arrived.

Now I'm not the sort of person who will wear my flip flops even for a midnight run through Wally World for some last minute groceries. No Siree. My feet need to be dressed up and flip flops to me are what I'd slip on to walk around the front yard or the back of my home, despite the fact that they're oh so comfy.

Now my Ibiza Monaco "sandals" are what I'd like to call "dressed up flip flops". They pass my "dress up " standard for footwear, so I can wear them outside and have my feet enjoy the "flip flop" comfort feel with the squishy soft rubber footbed.

This lightweight piece when paired with my " drop and pick Bunny girl from school" attire, looks great and yes, they've already been given several "Mommy Likes" looks of approval!

My sandals' got pizzazz!....Does yours?

CLOSED: Bambi : A Diamond Edition (+ Giveaway)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

A Disney Classic that most of us will remember, is being released from the Disney vault for a limited time only. On March 1, 2011, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment brings back Bambi. The movie is exactly the way you remember it but the quality of print has been enhanced in the Diamond Edition (i.e. The Blu-ray & DVD Combo Pack).

The Buzz:

Bambi was Walt Disney’s fifth animated full-length feature film which released in 1942 during World War II and took approximately five years in the making due to the exquisite artwork and attention to detail of each and every scene, character and figure.

The movie begins with morning light breaking across the meadow and a young deer named Bambi being born. Bambi is hailed as ‘Prince of the Forest.’ Soon Bambi emerges from the thicket on wobbly legs, much to the delight of his new friends, Thumper, the playful rabbit, and Flower, the bashful yet lovable skunk. But the fun of nibbling on fresh blossoms and frolicking through the woods is only the beginning. Exploring his new world, and guided by the wisdom of Friend Owl,Bambi learns valuable life lessons with every adventure – experiencing the power of friendship, family, and love along the away.

Bambi was nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Song (“Love Is a Song,”), Best Sound Recording, and Best Music Score of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture. To date, Bambi is No. 3 on the list of American Film Institute’s Top 10 Animated Films of All Times. And in 2004, the movie was commemorated with a first-class U.S. postage stamp and in the 1990’s the film inspired astronomers to name a pair of asteroids after the adorable characters – Thumper (April 20, 1993) and Bambi (October 17, 1995).

Disney’s new “Second Screen” technology, is introduced for the very first time on the Bambi : A Diamond Edition release. This technology will further transform the at-home movie watching experience by empowering viewers with the ability to engage with film content on multiple media platforms and bring them to life in their own hands at the touch of a button.

The Combo Pack also includes a rich collection of bonus features, the icing on the cake being the comprehensive documentary on the making of Bambi.

E.B. Mommy's Report:

If your children are yet to watch movie I would advise that you borrow the book from the local library, read it through with them once and then sit down to watch the film with them. One segment in the movie may alarm your little ones- the hunter's visit to the forest that results in Bambi's mother being shot. The movie does not show Bambi's mother being shot but the shots being fired into the air and his mother's absence implies the inevitable.

Bunny girl was given the book a year ago and since then has been waiting to watch the movie. She loved every bit of the movie but I do know Bambi's mother's death did sadden her. We have read the story several times and even though she was prepared for what was going to happen, she was very quiet. We used the opportunity to explain to her how it is important to treat animals with love and that they have families too. The fire in the forest was also another great teaching opportunity to show her how man's carelessness in the environment can have drastic effects especially on the little animals in the wild.

On a happier note, the movie is every bit as adorable as I remember it to be.
Baby Bambi is sweet but Baby Thumper steals the limelight with his bunny lisp, single bunny tooth and preschooler way of speaking before thinking.

The friends are a happy trio till the "twitterpated" bug hits them!

The highlight of the pack is the bonus feature on how the original movie was conceptualized and brought to life. It's only when you watch this detailed documentary-like feature that you really appreciate the movie that you've just watched.
The time, work and effort that has gone behind animating each character to give each one a realistic animal persona yet be unique and human in expression is, to put it simply, a gargantuan task. That's what sets Walt Disney and his team apart from the rest. They're in a niche of their own and Bambi is proof of that!

Buy it:

You can pre-order Bambi: A Diamond Edition (Blu-ray & DVD Combo Pack) for a suggested retail price of 24.99 US$.

Click on the picture if you'd like to print out a 10$ off coupon but hurry, this expires on 3/8/2011!
