The Alphabet Prayer

Yesterday afternoon during a meeting in church our Pastor shared this beautiful little story of a child in prayer and I know it touched the hearts of all of us present. This morning I tried looking the story up on Google and found a similar version...just as powerful. I pray this may bless your heart as it did mine.

(Art Credit: iSymboz)

The Alphabet Prayer

Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged with man. Now the story goes, a little shepherd boy was watching his sheep one Sunday morning and he heard the bells of the church ringing. And watching the people walk along the pasture where he was, he happened to think to himself, "I would like to communicate with God! But, what can I say to God?"
He had never learned a prayer. So, on bended knee, he began to recite the alphabet....
A,B,C,D,E,F,G.........

Repeating this 'prayer' several times, a man passing by, heard the boy's voice and peaked through the bushes. He saw the young boy kneeling with folded hands, eyes closed, repeating the alphabet.

He interrupted the boy. "What are you doing, my little one?" he asked. The boy replied, "I was praying sir." The man seemed surprised and said, "But why are you reciting the alphabet?"
The boy explained, "I don't know any prayers, sir. But I want God to take care of me, and to help me care for my sheep. And so I thought, if I said all I knew, He could put the letters together into words, and He would know all that I want and should say!"

The man smiled and said, "Bless your heart, God will!" And he went on to church knowing full well that he had heard the finest sermon he could possibly hear that day.

Maybe if we thought like little children and let God put together the letters, what we should want, and what we should say, things would probably work out a lot better than we planned!!!

(Thank you Barb754 for sharing this on the Christian Forums)

CLOSED: A Woolly Good Time (Dvd R&G)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

This is my first dvd review of a Shaun the Sheep release and honestly I hope it's not the last. If A Woolly Good Time is only a taste of all things Shaun then I can't wait to see some more only because I honestly had a 'woolly' good laugh!

With 6 episodes squeezed into a 40 minute time frame, the impish antics of Shaun and his woolly buddies and poor responsible Blitzer should not be discounted as average entertainment.....the little farm folk are actually quite a riot!! I think what takes the cake are their facial expressions!

Episodes in A Woolly Good Time include
  • Washday (This is hilarious....honestly what do you expect when Shaun and his buddies get the Farmer's clean laundry muddy and experiment with using the washing machine after throwing in the soiled clothes, a box of soap suds and a bottle of laundry detergent....as is!)
  • Tooth Fairy (Poor Blitzer's the victim of a terrible tooth ache and the sheep do all they can to relieve the pain!)
  • The Farmer's Niece (The pesky little one comes to visit the farm and boy, do the sheep have it to put up with some zany stuff!)
  • Snore-Worn Shaun (Some of you will relate to this....sleepless nights thanks to a Snore Machine at home! I'm sure there are several things you've tried to stop someone from snoring the sleep out of you. Watch Shaun in action and perhaps you may get a tip or two!!)
  • Helping Hound (Poor Blitzer has had the last straw and calls for help but will this 'Robot' alternative be the answer to his problems?)
  • Big Top Timmy (When the smallest member in the flock finds that the grass is possibly greener at a nearby circus, whatever will the other sheep do?.....Little Timmy is the cutest! )
This dvd also includes 2 bonus features- 'A sing along with Shaun' and 'The mini making of Shaun'.

Hit Entertainment and Lionsgate production will release A Woolly Good Time into the market on February 16 2010 and though the viewing duration is short, I can vouch that everyone in the family will have a good laugh's worth with this one!

'Then Sings My Soul Saturday' (1/30)

I'm now well into the second trimester and every time I find a quiet moment, I feel Bunny Boo kick within me and a warmth floods my heart. How awesome it is that God can put life into my womb and cause a once little dot (That was what Bunny girl thought her sibling looked like in the first ultrasound!), grow into a little being with 10 fingers, 10 toes, a unique personality, a one of a kind creation with a heart to love and serve Him.
I'm filled with awe and praise. Indescribable!
.....Truly You ARE Amazing, my Lord!

CLOSED: 'Kaboost' your child! (R&G)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

Sometime last month, I'd asked Bunny girl what her favorite meal of the day was. I was confident she'd reply breakfast only because she'd get to watch Playhouse Disney and enjoy yummy waffles, hot pancakes or crunchy cereal. Surprisingly she replied Dinner. Her reason for choice being "We can all eat together like a big happy family" .... needless to say I was humbled to silence!

Our little ones are very perceptive and the things we think may not mean a great deal to them, may actually be the world to them. Eating a meal together is one such factor and it has also been proven that families that spend eating atleast one meal together have stronger bonds, better communication ties and a great time being with each other!

Now comes the 'money crunch' time.....so how do you get your little one to be an active participant at the dinner table through his/her growing years with all those 'Ages and Stages' highchairs and booster seats?....Expensive, right?

Well thanks to Kaboost, your solution is only 37.95 US$ away!

What in the world is a Kaboost?

Your days of watching your little one struggle on cushions atop the dining chair are over! A Kaboost is a portable chair booster that raises the height of your dining chair in just a matter of minutes.

This easy to carry along, 3.5 lb foldable contraption can be pulled to fit round or square 4 legged chairs that have a diagonal leg distance between 19.5-30 inches.

I would strongly recommend using your Kaboost on non collapsible chairs as I just feel it's a more secure and safer alternative. We tried our Kaboost on both a chair that folds and a sturdy, non collapsible one and found that Bunny girl also felt more confident seated on the latter, perched on top of her Kaboost.

The Kaboost has a spring mechanism that facilitates adjusting the height to suit the child concerned. It can be adjusted to a height of 3.75" or 4.5" and can hold a maximum weight of 300 lbs.

This handy invention is recommended for children as young as 20 months old to children as old as 6 years in age. It has been TUV tested and approved to ensure we receive a product safe for use.

I'm so glad we have the happy, green Kaboost at home....I think Bunny girl is the happiest as her days of 'dual cushion balancing' are over!!

(Note: The Kaboost has won over 10 parenting awards.)

Will you, 'Kaboost' your child?

Buy it:

You can buy a Kaboost in a green, chocolate or natural shade for 37.95 US$ online or in these stores near you.

Win it:

One reader will have the opportunity to win a
green Kaboost.

Here's how you can win it:

CLOSED: Crane USA's Cool Mist Humidifier (R&G)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

Two weeks ago, Bunny girl was invited to classmate's birthday party. It was an all girls princess themed party that was beautifully coordinated and thrown by the little girl's Mommy. Bunny girl wore her Cinderella costume and as things would have it, that morning turned out to be cold and windy. (Of all days!) It didn't help that the girls played outdoors on the playground set, the rented giant wheel and the 'bouncy castle' minus jackets! Yes mothers, minus jackets!! Bunny girl's justification was that Disney Princesses just did not wear jackets with their pretty dresses (Duh Mama!!)

So there we had it....pretty princesses pranced around in the cold wind minus jackets and ended up with congested nasal passages and threatening coughs. Sigh!

Over the weekend Hubby and I made our 'congested Princess' sit in a steamed up bathroom, tried inhalations with Vicks, regular saline mist sprays...we tried everything! Bunny girl's nasal passages would clear up but then get blocked after a few minutes. We were fighting a losing battle especially since we'd decided we weren't going to make her go through medications just for a congestion.

Thankfully a God sent package arrived early on the following week. It was Crane USA to the rescue with their FDA registered Cool Mist Humidifier!

That night we filled our little Frog Humidifier's head with water

Added a pinch of salt (optional), flipped over the little froggy's head and placed it back on it's body.

Put his little eyes and nose back on and carried the Humidifier to the bedroom to put it to the test.

Bunny girl fell asleep with a struggle as she hates sleeping with a congested nose and because I tell her to sleep with her mouth open to aid with the breathing. In less than half an hour when I checked on her, she was asleep with a gutteral snoring noise but with her mouth closed.....the Humidifier worked!!

Crane's Cool Mist Humidifier's is awesome because it comes complete with
  • A one gallon water tank that runs for upto 11hours
  • An auto off function when the tank is empty
  • A removable water tank that fits under most bathroom sinks (and unlike other Humidifiers this is easy to carry around. A big plus especially since I'm careful carrying heavy things since I'm in my second trimester now.)
  • A 2.1 moisture gallon output per day and
  • A low power consumption
They even come disguised as all these cute little animals!! (Makes such a difference even in your little one's approach to having it around.)

Hubby and I now bank everything on Crane's Cool Mist Humidifier because God only knows the various things we've tried to help Bunny girl breathe easier when congested. I know medicines are the easy way out but we firmly believe medicines should be given to a child (and even an adult) only when absolutely necessary else your body loses resistance to fight off illnesses.

Buy it:

You can buy the Crane Cool Mist Frog Humidifier for 39.99 US$

Win it:

One reader will have the opportunity to win an identical
Crane Cool Mist Frog Humidifier.

Here's how you can win it:

CLOSED: Colors Are Fun (Dvd R&G)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

Could you ever picture your preschooler without a bunch of smudged up crayons in his/her chubby little hand? I couldn't and I guess the guys over at Hit Entertainment and Lionsgate production figured they just had to bring out our preschoolers favorite shows putting the little one's beloved characters and colors....thus their new February 9th (2010) release- Colors Are Fun !

In Barney's 'Colors', Barney and the gang spend some time indoors painting till the rain clears up and once the sun peeks out again, they spend a little time outside enjoying the beautiful colors of nature and ....painting again! A mixture of old favorites and new are sung and ofcourse our color favorite song "Oh I love red, its the color of an apple"

It's then time to pop over to visit Bob and his Crew as they get ready to build a house in....wait for it....a cave! The cave construction begins but Scrambler just feels the cave needs to be more inviting....less scary and.....colorful!! Along with a little help from Wendy he knows just what to do!

After more painting, it's whizz around the tracks time with Thomas as he races to collect some essentials for a magician's show at the children's midsummer party. If Thomas gets everything required, he just might get to be in the magic show's finale....would he remember all that he has to get?

Next it's time to stop at the fire station with Fireman Sam who's waiting to spend some time at the beach singing a little ditty that annoys the fire chief- 'Red is for Danger'. Thanks to Elvis' little song, Sam's able to be at the right place, at the right time and airlift injured Elvis to the hospital.

The dvd ends with little Kipper, an elephant and a frog in the 'Rainbow Puddle' and sweet little Fifi and the Flowertots in a special blueberry clean up with a beautiful 'Blueberry Surprise'!

Colors Are Fun runs for an approximate duration of 53 minutes and comes complete with printable coloring sheets.

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!

If I should count them,
they would be more in number than the sand

Tupperware (Review)

Thanks to the ladies in church I got to hear of how awesome Tupperware products are. They talked about the quality, durability, the fact that you could order the products from a catalog and have them shipped out to your residence via a consultant.....but that was it. I just heard all the great stuff but never really experienced what Tupperware was all about till my Tupperware Eureka day!

Well guess what? I actually got into discussion with the team over at Tupperware and they suggested I review some of their products, would I be game?.....Would I ever!!!

My package finally arrived and believe me, I was surprised to see the range of various Tupperware samples that awaited use!

Allow me to take you on my little Tupperware orientation...keep in mind, these are just a minute fraction of the vast range of products this company has.

Need a quick shake container for that cold coffee shake or to scramble some eggs or how about to mix in some spices and vinegar for that chicken marinade? Check out this Quick Shake Measure Container for 12 US$.

I have a complaint for my plastic storage containers. They keep my cookies and Bunny girl's favorite assortment of nuts fresh and crispy for a maximum of 3-5 days. After that we're in soggy land! I'm thrilled that I've finally found an alternative that works. Bunny girl's 'nut collection' for snacks have stayed fresh and crunchy even 10 days after they were placed in storage, thanks to the Stuffables Mini Set for 25.50 US$

And if you've stayed in an apartment you know how any additional space one can get is always welcome. This Flat Out 4 cup Container set can be compressed to lid thickness and pulled out to the size of choice when needed for use. I personally love this storage set. It retails for 17 US$.

Last but not the least, my absolute favorite and now a necessity in my kitchen.....the Quick Chef.

Pregnancy hormones have lazed out my love to prep stuff in the kitchen and this makes my life soooooo easy. I just have to throw in my onions, garlic and ginger, give the handle a few quick turns and Voila!!!......

Aaaah......how wonderful to have things make life more laid back!
This is priced at 52.50 US$.

Overall, I personally think there are some really great products on the Tupperware site.
The uniqueness of the products stand out and the quality is great (based on the few products I've used) but personally I'm more of a budget conscious shopper and feel the prices are a little steep for my fancy.
Hmmm....I wonder if they have clearance sales or coupons for Tupperware!.......
