CLOSED: The First Years Ignite Lightweight Stroller (+Giveaway)

I admit it. Bunny Boo has one of the most padded and comfy baby car seats today, thanks to The First Years. Yes it is much wider than a regular car seat and heavy but since we have it permanently placed in Daddy's car, we have no complaints! Thus when I was asked to review The First Years Ignite Lightweight Stroller I was excited as it couldn't have come at a better time.

The Buzz:

Bunny Boo has just crossed the 9 month milestone and is becoming a little too heavy for me to carry around everywhere especially while dropping and picking Bunny girl to preschool. We have a great jogging stroller but it's way too bulky to place in the car and swiftly pull out to use. It's around the time I was contemplating to go "stroller shopping" that we were sent the Ignite Stroller in Red Stripe. (God has awesome timing, honestly!)

The stroller comes compact in package and requires minimal assembly. The only things you need to do are fit in the 6" wheels and attach the canopy.

This 14 lb Ignite Lightweight Stroller has tall handles (This is helpful especially if you're a taller person and if you generally suffer from back aches and strains) and a 5 point harness that keeps a wriggly baby safely strapped in.
(Mine's more of a bouncy baby than wriggly, so this is perfect!)

The wide passenger seat can be reclined by adjusting the toggles found behind the little passenger's seat.

The stroller also comes with a fully adjustable and removable canopy that will shade your baby well as long as he/she doesn't like to pop forward to enjoy the moving scenery that passes by. (Yes that's my Bunny Boo for you!)

What's also neat about this stroller is that it has two storage compartments: an upper storage console to stash away those keys, wallet, a bottle of water and your mobile phone and a lower basket storage for your handbag.

On the movement safety front, it comes with rear wheel brakes and front wheel swivel locks to keep the stroller stationary and secure, when required.

E.B. Mommy's Report:

There are four things I love about this stroller:

1. I can use the same till Bunny Boo weighs 50 lbs. (That's value for money!)
2. Its lightweight yet sturdy in framework. (Pulling out 14 lbs from the car beats carrying a 20lb infant around)
3. It has two storage compartments, something that both my other lightweight strollers for Bunny girl never did have. (Sure I wish the lower basket was a little bigger and had an easier "place things in"-"take things out" passageway but atleast it's there!)

4. The stroller is easy to pull open and fold up and fits perfectly in my car's trunk, without hogging up unnecessary space .

Buy it:

You can buy any Ignite Stroller for an approximate retail price of 64.99 US$.

I can't believe we've actually reached the end of the Baby Bounty Bash...boy, has it been a blast! Think I'm going to miss seeing the button around after this but on the happier note, it also means that Bunny Boo will soon be here. (My Braxton Hicks continue to remind me that his arrival will be soon!) So to end with a bang, Learning Curve's brand The First Years has generously offered to sponsor our last giveaway with a product every parent wants to own....
The First Years True Fit Rebound Convertible Car Seat (model C670)

This prestigious NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) 5 star rated car seat is the only seat you will need for your child from the time you take him/her out of the hospital, right after birth, till he/she outgrows the need to be in a car seat.

That's right, you can use the True Fit Rebound Convertible Car Seat (model C670) as soon as the young rider is 5 lbs and till he/she hits 65 lbs.
(In the rear facing position from 5-22 lbs and in the forward facing position from 22-65 lbs)

I love that this car seat is very well cushioned.
The seat is completely lined with energy absorbing EPS foam.( The seat cover is also easy to remove when you need to 'sanitize' the same with a good clean up after spills and crumbs)

and has a 5 point harness system which I feel, is any day, a safer and more secure option than using car seat belts in boosters for older children.

The crotch buckle is also adjustable (5 point adjust) allowing the child to sit comfortably as he/she grows.

The True Fit Rebound Convertible Car Seat (model C670) is the only convertible car seat that provides a 'Rebound Energy Management System' via the flip up 'Rebound Bar'.

The 'Rebound Energy Management System' provides additional protection to minimize harsh impact to the young ride in the unlikely event of a violent crash.

It also comes with a rear facing 'Angle Indicator' that helps you determine whether or not the seat has been inclined appropriate to your little one's age. The recommended angle for a newborn is 45 degrees (minus the head-rest) and 35 degrees (with the head-rest)- with the car seat placed in the rear facing position.

The side impact wings are much larger than most car seats I have seen, thereby only enhancing protection measures.

The padded, wide head rest, for use in the rear as well as forward facing position, is removable and also has long side wings for protection.
If Bunny girl was using the seat right now the only issue I'd have would be if she'd fall asleep on a long ride as the wideness of the head rest would cause her head to flop from one side to the other like a little rag dolly.

The True Fit Rebound Convertible Car Seat (model C670) is an awesome car seat and I wish they'd had it out in the market when we had to buy Bunny girl's first seat. Packed with features, enhanced security and lots more comfort than most car seats, I'm sure getting Bunny Boo to stay put in his car seat should not be a struggle.

I have to state that the information provided in The First Years manual is very comprehensive, educative and clearly explained in a simplified manner, stage-wise.

Here are 2 important facts, I learnt while reading the same:
  • The chest clip should always be placed at arm pit level for higher safety/security of the young rider.
  • The harness strap should always be snug and not allow any slack nor should it be too tight.

We're yet to install the seat in our car and may get a little help just to make sure everything's in place.
(Hubby's confident he can do it without any problems so we have to see how it goes this weekend).

Once the seat's in, we'll just have to wait till our little member makes his arrival to make any readjustments if necessary!
