CLOSED: A Community of Hope...Pink Together (+Giveaway Pack)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

When you go through life's battles, hope is what gives you the grace to take those heavy steps ahead.

This month symbolically reminds us of many who fight the clutches of breast cancer and encourages us to help make a difference in the research that is being conducted to help detect this cancer early and fight it till its rendered powerless.

Even as I type this out, many women are battling this at this very moment and nothing makes the fight easy but there is something that can help them move forward......loving support! Thanks to the wonders of technology today, not only can they enjoy the support of their family and friends around them but also the virtual support of over 680,000 breast cancer survivors on the growing, loving community of hope... Pink Together.

On the site, you can also read the empowering stories from the 2010 Pink Together Survivor Ambassadors, five incredible individuals whose courage in the face of breast cancer serves as a source of inspiration:

* Ebony Steele – This three-year survivor serves as a National Ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Circle of Promise, an effort focused on fostering breast cancer awareness, support, empowerment and action among African American women.

* Eli Arroyo-Allen – A two-year survivor, Eli is the founder of the Loving Life/Amando La Vida program supporting Latina women with breast cancer.

* Ginger Johnson – A mother and four-year survivor, Ginger is the director of Happy Chemo!, whose mission is to bring happiness to those dealing with the negative effects of chemotherapy and cancer.

* Libby Pomroy – Libby is a two-time, 15-year survivor and a General Mills employee.

* Nicole Vazquez – This three-year survivor is a Komen breast cancer activist in the Latino community.

These Survivor Ambassadors and their empowering stories will also be featured on the Pink Together Facebook fan page and YouTube channel, and on special pink packaging on General Mills’ brands like Cheerios Cereal, Green Giant Frozen Vegetables and Nature Valley Granola Bars.

If you or someone you know would make a great candidate for next year’s Pink Together Survivor Ambassadors, please visit PinkTogether.com for more information.

You can help too.

To encourage personal connections in the online community, General Mills will donate $1 (up to $20,000) to Komen for each inspirational story submitted, encouraging comment posted, or virtual flower of support sent on PinkTogether.com, and for each shared message of hope posted on Pink Together's Facebook fan page during the month of October (up to $5,000).
This $25,000 is in addition to the $2 million donation General Mills has committed to Komen to advance breast cancer research and support education and community outreach projects.

Will you help make a difference?

Remember....Individually we are strong, but together we are stronger.

CLOSED:Inspiring Hope-Pink Together Giveaway

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One month set apart to honor those women who have fought this cancer, continue to fight this cancer and those who survive to tell of God's miraculous healing in being cancer free after a diagnosis months or even years later.

My grandmother had breast cancer. At the time I was a little girl and didn't really understand what it meant. I just knew my mother was hurt and my grandmother was in a lot of pain. In the 80s in India, you didn't really have big awareness drives or Women Support Groups as you have today. The only support you had was your family, close friends and the church family... but that was enough.

To know that you have somebody supporting and encouraging you along the way....someone to say that they love you and believe that you could get through this....someone to sincerely go on their knees and pray for your healing....is all that a woman fighting this cancer needs.

Pink Together acknowledges this need and has set up an online community to support women who have survived this ordeal, women who continue to fight this battle and others who have been impacted by breast cancer in some way or the other.

What can you do to help?

Lots! You know how an encouraging word has lifted your spirits on a hard day and how an e-card out of the blue has brought a smile to your face, on that day you were down in the dumps. Well, now you can make someone else's heart smile....
  • Post a comment of encouragement to one or more of the women who've shared their story on Pink Together
  • Send a virtual flower bouquet (free of charge) to one of the survivors
If you are a breast cancer survivor and would like to share your story to encourage other women who visit the site, please click on the 'Share Your Story' tab. Remember no story is too small to encourage anybody. Somebody will be blessed.

To support this campaign, General Mills has offered to donate 1$ (upto a total of 20,000$) for each comment posted, each virtual bouquet sent and each story shared.(Till October 31,2009) In addition to this, they are also donating 2 million$ to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I think that's a moving gesture on their part.

As a part of this campaign, My Blog Spark and Pink Together sent me an 'Inspiring Hope' gift pack that includes a sleeved travel mug, a running ribbon charm bracelet, a pink leather strap keychain, a pink cinch bag and a set of inspirational note cards.

They have also generously offered to gift one of my readers with an identical pack.
(To ensure we build as many comments to help the cause and send as many bouquets as we can, this contest will end on October 31, 11.59pm)

All the contents in this bag come from ShopKomen.com, where 25% of the purchase price on each item sold helps in Susan G Komen's cause, the Cure, in the fight for Breast Cancer.

Here's how you can win it:

1. Mandatory entry (without this, all other entries will be disqualified)-

Tell me what inspired you the most on the Pink Together community.

Additional entries:

-For each comment you post (please mention whose story you posted under)

-For each virtual bouquet you send (please mention whom you sent this to)

-For a story shared

Lets help General Mills donate that additional 20,000$ in whole.
