Mama loves you more than me!

My parents were blessed with two children. I was their first-born, followed by my sister three years later. I love my sister to bits but there's a timeless debate we always jump into that never ceases to end...."Mama loves you more than me!"
Oh boy!!

I'm not sure how it started but my mother always has a field day listening to us, feeling incredibly smug and happy.
Why?
Because she says she knows she did her part well as a mother. The very fact that we both think that she loves the other better just proves that she has loved us equally and we can't find a single instance that proves otherwise!

Honestly my Mama has gone to such extents of actually buying two of everything ever since we were young, irrespective of whether the other would use or need the same or not. It was always bought just in case the other had a sudden change of mind or thought "Mama loved the other more!"

It's funny to look back and think of the way my sister and I would go on and on but it's also yet another leaf I've pulled out of my Mama's book.
Today as a Mama I know it's my heart's desire that Bunny girl and Bunny Boo will never ever grow up feeling either one was favored over the other. Both of them should know that they are loved equally and will be provided equal opportunities and avenues to grow, as they become older.
Now I can't wait for the time when they, too, will engage upon that age old debate....
"Mama loves you more than me!"....
and then I'll know, like Mama, that I did my part well.

E.B. Mommy's Report:

I love sweets so it was only natural that I attacked the Desserts section in the book first. Not only are the recipes easy peasy but the ones I've tried are delicious. My favorite is the "Easy Chocolate Fudge".

Try this out and then tell me why you wouldn't grab this cookbook for yourself!

Ingredients

1 can (14 ounces) condensed milk
7 tbsp cubed butter
7 ounces good quality dark chocolate finely chopped. (I replaced this with milk chocolate)
1 1/4th packed brown sugar (you can replace this with a cup of walnuts if you use milk chocolate)


Method

1. Line an 8 inch square pan with parchment paper
2. Place all the ingredients in a 3 quart microwaveable bowl
3. Microwave uncovered, on medium high, in 2 minute increments, stirring after each, for 8-10 minutes, or till bubbles appear over the whole surface of the mixture.
4. Pour immediately into the prepared pan.
5. Place in the fridge for 1 hr or till firm.
6. Cut the fudge into 20 pieces.

What I like about the cookbook is the fact that most of the ingredients are things that are found regularly in everyone's pantry, making this the "Go To" book when you're tearing your hair out wondering what you have to whip up for dinner or send to school in your child's lunch box!

I love to cook but every once in a while I like to take a mini cooking 'holiday' and allow Hubby dearest to treat our family to a hearty meal outside. Considering Bunny Boo is still a wiggly baby, we prefer picking places that are family friendly (AND baby friendly), easy on the pocket and at the same time serve good food. One of our favorite casual dining restaurants is definitely Applebee's.



The Buzz:

Though only 31 years old, Applebee's is the World's largest casual dining chain. Its rich menu proudly boasts of something for everyone, irrespective of the age, with its Watchers menu, Kiddies Favorites, Pasta, Seafood, Sliders, Burgers, Ribs, Steaks and my favorite- the 2 for 20 menu!


E.B. Mommy's Report:

The 2 for 20 menu is your best bet if you're looking for a "Value For Money" package complete with the ability to pick what you want and leave with a satisfied (and bursting) tummy!


What is the 2 for 20 menu?:

Under the 2 for 20 arrangement, you and your accompanying guest pick an appetizer to share and the follow this with 2 separate full sized entrees of choice.



Hubby and I decided we'd pick the boneless buffalo wings for our appetizer and asked that we get the spicy wings over the honey glazed ones....a perfect pick!



The spicy wings make an irresistible appetizer as the crisp, tangy cum spicy combination is delicious when doused with the accompanying ranch.

For our respective entrees, I chose the Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp from the new Bourbon Street Flavors



while Hubby opted for the Riblet basket with the Sweet and Spicy Sauce.



I personally loved the well cooked, Bourbon flavored chicken and shrimp but did not really care too much for the accompanying potato wedges as they seemed overdone and unsalted. Hubby on the other hand thought his Riblet and sides hit the spot well especially as he'd asked that the meat be "well done" and additionally flavored with fresh pepper.


Kid friendly?-

Bunny girl insisted on ordering a kids meal with a corn dog, french fries and chocolate milk. Halfway through the meal she decided eating bites from our plates was more appetizing and tasted way better than what she had ordered, so Daddy had to finish off her leftovers!



Bunny girl's chocolate milk came with an over-sized, non flexible straw and strangely they didn't seem to have smaller straws or flexible ones in the kitchen.



Thankfully we had a "creative" server, who "borrowed" a knife and sliced the straw in half to make things a little easier for Bunny girl!




Ambiance:

On an overall, I personally think this is a nicer restaurant, in terms of ambiance, for families with older kids. This is definitely the place you should go to if you need to grab a bite to eat and don't want to miss the big basketball match or soccer game of the day.
