Sure we all love to gorge on deliciously rich food but after a while when our cholesterol readings set off those alarm bells we think twice about ordering that luscious, butter doused, fried chicken!
It is for that very reason George Foreman introduced his first signature grill into the market....to provide the right technology to marry healthy eating into a person's everyday lifestyle.

Several months ago, a friend of ours blessed us with a small George Foreman Lean Mean Machine....Ah! We were in love except for the fact that it was too small to cook meat/chicken for 6 people in one shot. It was then that we were introduced to the Grand Champ Family Value Grill.

The Buzz:

The Grand Champ Family Value Grill has
  • A 133 square inch grilling surface that can easily cook up to seven servings
  • A preheat indicator light lets you know when chosen cooking temperature has been achieved

  • A George Tough nonstick coating that eliminates the need for oil or butter, prevents sticking and makes clean-up a breeze
  • Two fixed grill plates
  • A Signature Foreman heating elements mean even heat distribution and faster temperature recovery
  • A dishwasher-safe custom drip tray for easy fat removal
  • A dishwasher-safe custom spatula for easy food removal

  • A large floating hinge lets you evenly grill without pressing or flattening food and
  • A patented sloped design to help drain away fat for a healthier meal

E.B. Mommy's Report:

When I first broke open the box and saw the size of this Family Grill, I was a tad bit impatient to try it out. Sadly the absence of any poultry or meat in our refrigerator at the moment pushed forward the "Big Test" for the weekend when we had guests over for lunch.

We'd marinated some chicken breast portions with spicy Indian Tandoori Chicken Masala and slapped the portions onto the grill for about 12 minutes to give them that seared, crisp effect.

The portions were well cooked and all the fat drained out into the drip tray with no leakage (this was something I was initially concerned about, thus prompting me to place newspaper under the Grill!) with some of the masala but thankfully the marination had seeped in well to give the chicken a great flavor.

The delicious AND healthy chicken portions were a big hit with our guests and what was great was the ability to grill all those pieces in one round.

My only bone to pick with the Grill is the difficulty we had with the clean up.
The masala tinged chicken juices caked onto the surface needed some effort to remove and because the Grill is quite a sizer, it was easier for Hubby to just take it out into the backyard to clean than struggle with it at our kitchen sink.

Considering this is a healthy alternative to frying we're willing to oversee the cleaning struggles we have with the same. So yes, the Grand Champ Family Value Grill has found a place of importance on my kitchen counter-top!
