A Christmas Carol-book (Festive R&G to follow)

We all know the story of the Charles Dickens classic, 'A Christmas Carol'. We're only too familiar with grumpy ol' Scrooge and his adventures with the ghosts of the past. We've learnt the little lessons, we've identified with certain thoughts and though we remember the storyline, there's perhaps more than we thought behind this Christmas special. I personally read this story again in a new light.

In 'A Christmas Carol' - a Special Edition, Stephen Skelton takes us through the pages but stops to make us introspect, search and understand the actual in depth meaning behind each chapter. Each discussion will make you learn to appreciate and finally embrace the story in its entirety.

Filled with thought provoking insights on a Christian focal point, this will make a lovely stuffer for the adults in the family and Amazon.com is presently selling this at a great price of 7.99 US$ only.

Great news for one special reader:

One of you will have the opportunity to win a 'A Christmas Carol' - a Special Edition at the FESTIVE GIVEAWAYS GALA FINALE. (Enter the competition here.) Please note that comments on this post will NOT be considered in the drawing of winners for the giveaway.

Bumkins Apron and Grinchmas Bib (Festive R&G to follow)

When a baby is born, you hold not just a bundle of joy and cuteness but also all the years of messes, spills and clean ups that follow. Thanks to products like baby bibs and aprons, you can be saved from hours of scrubbing at that laundry stone! It's easy to buy these bibs and aprons but how sure are you that the materials used are safe for your child?.... You will be sure if you buy your bibs and aprons from Bumkins!

All Bumkins products meet juvenile product regulations and are CPSIA compliant. Their waterproof products are lead safe, PVC free, phthalate free and BPA free. Oh and if you love Dr Seuss products, you will be interested to know that Bumkins is a Dr Seuss licensee and has Dr Seuss characters on all their products...this includes apparel, diaper covers and even laundry bags.

Bunny girl was sent a stain and odor resistant Grinchmas waterproof apron with a 3 section, 5" deep pocket for her to store her little art supplies or odds and ends.

The first time she used her apron was to help me brush butter onto the dinner rolls.

We made that our food art project and she worked like a pro (note the concentration!)....she even looked like one with her cute little Grinchmas apron. Yes we did have a few spills but nothing that stayed nor smelt bad later on. One quick rinse and the apron was as good as new!

You can buy a child's apron for 14.95 US$ on the Bumkins site.

Her sibling to come was also sent a cute Grinchmas bib that comes with an adjustable velcro closure and a catch pocket.

This can be used for a child over 2 years as well!

You can buy a Grinchmas superbib 2 pack for 8.95 US$ on the Bumkins site.

Bumkins products are affordable especially when you consider the fact that you are getting your child a product that is safe and durable quality.

Flitterbugs (Festive R&G to follow)

The motivation behind Flitterbugs, a quaint little girls boutique, is a heart warming story. A young couple with a burden to adopt children when they first married were told they needed to wait till they were 25 to be approved to be adoptive parents. The wait was long but 7 years and 3 kids of their own later, the burden continues to burn on and they've found the little girl they want to bring home from across the seas...all the way from Ethiopia. Only one thing stands in their way...the finances. To raise money to help bring their daughter to her new home, Julie began Flitterbugs.

The boutique features long sleeve dresses (price ranges between 38-40 US$)

short sleeve dresses (price ranges between 25-30 US$)

skirts, nightgowns, tees, peasant tops, ruffle pants, capris and cute traditional and whimsical bows.

Bunny girl was sent a beautifully wrapped package with 3 unique Flitterbugs creations and matching .

I loved the way the package was so carefully wrapped and tied up with a bow....making it look so elegant and 'girly'. I made sure I opened this out when Bunny girl got back from school to gauge her reactions. She immediately jumped on the bows and tried one on after the other and then declared she would wear one each day to school.

The next day to school, she wore her Flitterbugs skirt with a long sleeved white top she has and the matching bow.

Now cute is this? I wasn't able to get her to pose for the camera as it was one of those "I'm camera shy" days.

We even mixed and matched one of the other bows with another outfit she has.

(Don't you just love these bows that Julie makes?!)

Bunny girl was also sent a 'Christmassy' long sleeved dress that she plans to wear for a Christmas pagent later tonight

and a very pretty dusk purple short sleeved dress with a more traditional bow to match.

I love the uniqueness of all these pieces and I absolutely adore the matching bows. The fabric is very good quality, thick, comfortable cotton and seems very durable. When you order a Flitterbugs creation, you can choose from the fabrics Julie offers and remember proceeds from your purchase will go towards Julie and her family's adoption fund to bring their precious Ethiopian child to their warm, loving home.

Great news for one special reader:

The Snowman's Song- Book (Festive R&G to follow)

Marilee Joy Mayfield tells young readers the story of a little snowman who wants, yearns and waits for just one thing....the ability to sing joyous Christmas strains. His mother explains to him with love that a snowman can't sing but the little snowman is not deterred. He believes with all his heart that one day he will be able to sing his Christmas praises, no matter what.

The Snowman's Song is a beautiful Christmas story that captures all that the Christmas season holds....the joy, the hope, melodious music, faith in prayer and the belief that miracles do happen despite all odds.

The illustrations by Tracy La Rue Hohn are so thoughtfully done. The expressions on the little snowman have been captured beautifully and you can tell just what he's thinking just by looking at the picture and not reading any of the text.

The Snowman's Song is a Leaping Antelope publication. This hardcover book comes with an audio cd narrative of the book and can be presently bought on sale for 16.95 US$. For every book that is sold, an additional book is being given away to a child not as privileged as yours. How nice it is to know that a purchase of yours will help bring joy to another child as well.

Bear portraits- Book (Festive R&G to follow)

If you love collecting coffee table books, I would definitely suggest picking up the Bear Portraits by Jill Greenberg. This literal work of art is a collection of Jill's photographs of 12 featured bear models and I'm telling you, these photographs are something!

I initially thought Jill was an artist and the book held collections of beautiful bear portraits she had painted...the intimacy with the animals is so real...it's unbelievable. You feel like you're nose to snout with a grizzly when you look at some of the photographs. They're truly something else!

While working on this review, I found a video on you tube with a few behind the scenes clips from the making of the Bear Portraits....this is worth a watch.

Bear Portraits is a Little, Brown and Company publication (Hachette Book Group) and can be bought online or at your local bookstore. The suggested retail price is 26.99 US$.

Great news for one special reader:

One of you will have the opportunity to win the book Bear Portraits at the FESTIVE GIVEAWAYS GALA FINALE. (Enter the competition here.) Please note that comments on this post will NOT be considered in the drawing of winners for the giveaway.

Yes! To Cookies (Festive R&G to follow)

I don't know anyone who doesn't like cookies. My favorites are the vanilla cream ones or chocolate melted crunchies...mmmmm. For Bunny girl, a simple chocolate cookie will do any day, so when I was sent 2 boxes of cookies to sample from Yes! To Cookies, I'm sure you know how many willing taste testers were around!!

Yes! To Cookies has a 10 fold 'BUY ME' call out with their assurances of
  1. Zero gluten
  2. Zero starch
  3. Zero sugar
  4. Natural sweetening not sweetened with maltitol, sorbitol or xylitol.
  5. Made with heart healthy fiber
  6. Zero compromise on quality ingredients
  7. Do not use cheap flour, sugar or artificial sweeteners
  8. Less than 1 gram of digestible carbohydrate per 3" cookie
  9. Made with nutrient rich cereal psyllium
  10. Best tasting sugar free, gluten free cookie around!

We were sent the 2 flavors Yes! To Cookies carries - Strawberry Banana Blitz and Cocoa-licious.

I have to admit, the unhealthy voice in me cried out for more sugar in the cookies but then these are supposed to be your 'healthy cookie option'. When you're used to the unhealthy option, the healthier option will take a little time to grow on you.

Our favorite between the two was the Strawberry Banana Blitz with it's unique flavor combination.

You can buy these 2 flavors as ready to eat packs off the Yes! To Cookies site for 9.95 US$ a pack or you can also check out through Amazon.com, at the same price.

You can even buy the cookie mixes and bake these off fresh at home. A cookie mix box costs 15.95 US$ for a 16 oz box. (This is a reduced introductory price).

Great news for one special reader:

One of you will have the opportunity to win 2 Yes! To Cookies ready to eat packages and 2 cookie mix boxes at the FESTIVE GIVEAWAYS GALA FINALE. (Enter the competition here.) Please note that comments on this post will NOT be considered in the drawing of winners for the giveaway.

Magic Jack (R & G to follow)

Are you fed up of paying those monthly phone bills and if you don't have a landline (like me), do you get nervy as you near the end of the month and realize you're going to overshoot the allotted talk-time minutes on your phone?

Thanks to a nifty little invention, we can kiss those telephone bill worries goodbye. This oh ye happy telephone chatters is Dan Barislow's Magic Jack and honestly, this is one of the simplest gadgets to install and use.

Here's how it works:
  1. Buy a Magic Jack either online or from a local store like Radio Shack and I believe places like Walmart also sell this as the gadget is apparently selling like hotcakes wherever it's displayed. Cost per instrument averages around 39 US$ and remember this is your only payment to make FREE telephone calls to ANYWHERE in the US AND Canada.
  2. Connect your Magic Jack instrument to a USB port on your computer.
  3. Connect your regular household phone to the computer and then wait to follow the instructions that appear on your computer screen.
Now remember you will be given a dedicated number that will be your own. People can call you back on the number and you can make calls through your computer as long as your Jack is connected and the computer is on.

Voice clarity is as clear as having a regular conversation via your present telecom provider. On an odd occasion though call clarity gets a little hazy but don't worry about that as this not a common occurrence.

If you'd like to test out the Magic Jack to be 100% comfortable in buying the product, you can receive about 30 minutes of free trial time before you actually decide to keep the instrument and buy it out. You can even sign up for this free trial on the website right here.

Great news for one special reader:

One of you will have the opportunity to win a Magic Jack at the FESTIVE GIVEAWAYS GALA FINALE. (Enter the competition here.) Please note that comments on this post will NOT be considered in the drawing of winners for the giveaway.

Uneaks Shoes (R & G to follow)

If you like to have your little one matched from head to toe and yet be mobile enough to sprint around a playground yet at the same time look presentable , you really should try getting him/her a pair of Uneaks!

Bunny girl was sent a pink and white boomerang Uneaks and 4 pairs of happy, funky Uneaks socks

When I first took the shoes out of the box I thought to myself, " Nice another regular sneaker that she can wear to school." Got Bunny girl to try on the shoes along with one of the sock pairs and " Heyyyyy.....neato!!!" The transparent pockets on either sides of the shoe revealed the funky sock pattern she had on.....so that's what Uneaks meant when they said their shoes were customizable. Bunny girl can wear socks to match the outfit she wears and when she puts on the Uneaks Boomerang, instead of having her sneakers cover the pretty patterns, they show through the little 'shoe windows'!

Two more plus points about the shoe:
  1. Its a leather combination of full grain leather and patent leather. (For me leather anything... when it comes to shoes.... rules!)
  2. It has bounce! You should've seen my Bunny girl running from room to room in her new shoes...she looked very light on her feet and even stopped to tell me that her shoes felt comfortable and she wanted to wear them to school everyday!
You can choose from 6 shoes styles for girls but just about 3 for boys. The sock styles vary from 15 styles for girls to 18 styles for boys. (They even have a Madagascar sock line...cute!)

Uneaks are available online (and best of all you have free shipping for any order over 20 US$. A pair of shoes costs 39.99 US$....free shipping!) or even at these retailers, including Shoe buy.

Great news for one special reader:

One of you will have the opportunity to win one pair of Uneaks shoes of choice along with 2 funky Uneaks socks of choice at the FESTIVE GIVEAWAYS GALA FINALE. (Enter the competition here.) Please note that comments on this post will NOT be considered in the drawing of winners for the giveaway.

Pearl Paradise (R&G to follow)

I know they say diamonds are a girl's best friend but for me it has always been pearls. In India when you get married, the bride is generally expected to be adorned with lots of gold jewelry and that's supposed to be just the 'bride' thing to do but I wanted to be different....I wore pearls and against my beautiful ivory white sari they were the classiest accessory I could've ever chosen for my memorable walk down the aisle. Pearls are just classy....there's just no other way to describe them best!

Years ago we'd need to walk into a jewelry store to pick up an authentic piece of pearl jewelry but not anymore. You just need to go click, click, click and visit a highly recommended pearl house- Pearl Paradise

The company began in 1996 but went online in the year 2000 and get this... in 2006 alone their sales topped 20 million US$....now that speaks volumes for itself!

So what sort of pearls are you looking for? Akoya? Tahitian? White South Sea?.....Personally I'm a Freshwater Pearl kinda gal. Now my options don't stop there...I can even choose the color I want my pearls of choice to be in- white, black, lavender, pink/peach or even multicolored. I opted for my good ol' faithful.. white and decided I'd really love a bracelet.

Do you want a peek at what came in the post just for me?.......

An exquisite 7.0-8.0mm white Freshwater pearl bracelet.

This beautiful piece came with a certificate vouching its authenticity and a pearl care kit with instructions on how my bracelet had to be 'loved and cared for'!

Now if I had to buy this bracelet in a regular store I'd have to shell out 310 solid US buckaroos BUT if I buy the same bracelet directly off Pearl Paradise I only have to pay 61 US$!!! (May I help you sit back on your chair....I'm sorry I know the price difference is quite a shocker!).

You still have a few more days to order your pearls ladies (or get your hubbies to accidentally stumble upon their website and then drop a few subtle hints)....pearls are an investment and like I said they're classy!

Great news for one special reader:

One of you will have the opportunity to win an exquisite 7.0-8.0mm white Freshwater pearl bracelet just like mine at the FESTIVE GIVEAWAYS GALA FINALE. (Enter the competition here.) Please note that comments on this post will NOT be considered in the drawing of winners for the giveaway.

So you need a unique gift to give your best friend this Christmas and you just don't want to get her oh the regular mundane stuff from your local retail store. You drum your fingers on your desk, bite a few nails off and start to fret....hmmm...maybe you should get that mundane gift after all....but wait....how about you click over to the Red Envelope site and see if maybe...just maybe...you might find something that catches your eye.

Wow!! ....I heard you gasp just under your breath....(giggle). Now I see you adding to your list...name after name and ...once again you have your list made up.

Your new plan of action is to re-shop and return all the stuff you picked up as gifts on Black Friday.....oh yeah, this stuff looks way classier!

A grilling tool kit for Dad

A digital brag book for Mom (you know how she loves to show anyone who crosses her path the pictures of all the grand kids!)

Chocolate covered oreos for your sister in college (mmmmm...maybe you should order another one just for you!)

A Handprint frame for your brother's family (you've already bought stuff for the kids from the toy store)

and for your best friend of over 15 years, this exquisite Circle of Friends vase

What a beautiful symbol of the years spent in laughter, tears, pranks, adventure and fun.

Each brushed nickel finished figure in the circle has a tiny heart on its chest and the figures encircle a glass vase standing 8.25" tall. (The glass vase is not very long so long stemmed flowers would need to be clipped at the ends to fit appropriately within.)

You can even engrave a tiny message or your BFF's name as long as the text stays within 15 characters for a maximum of 2 lines.

The Circle of Friends vase costs 49.95 US$ (engraving a message would cost an additional 3.95 US$) and could even be delivered carefully packaged to your friend's doorstep with a personalized note from you.

Perfect....Christmas shopping done!

* The Red Envelope portfolio of gifts include the unique and the classy. Quality in each product is assured and what makes gift giving through this site more special, is the ability to personalize or monogram your gifts to add that 'extra something' to the overall presentation.*
