'Then Sings My Soul' Saturday (10/31)

Last night, we were watching Joel Osteen preach an awesome message on the Outstretched Hand of God and he shared this verse from Isaiah 14:27 that says
27 For the LORD of hosts has purposed,
And who will annul it?
His hand is stretched out,
And who will turn it back?”

This verse really ministered to me....what God has purposed for my life, no man or situation or circumstance can annul it....what a blessing....what an assurance...what a confidence we have in our God. How Great is our God!

Wubb Idol DVD gift pack (Festive R&G)

Wow! Wow! Wow!....look who's here....It's Wubbzy trying out his best singing voice for the 'Wuzzleberg Idol' talent show in 'Wubb Idol'. He's up against some stiff competition and the hosts aren't any singing novices themselves...they're The Wubb Girlz- Sparkle, Shimmer and Shine- and boy oh boy, they're good!
Wubbzy has his eye on the prize- an awesome opportunity to sing with the Wubb Girlz at a big concert in Wuzzlewood- but does he really have the stuff a singing idol is made of? Can he win this contest just by being good ol' Wubbzy?

Bunny girl is not a big Wubbzy fan but this dvd caught her attention-music, energy and fun! It has all the important lessons a little one should learn like being confident to be yourself, loyal to your friends and true to yourself and those around you.

The music is upbeat and the singing voices are melodic especially Wubb Girlz lead singer-Shine's (whose voice over is Beyonce-love her voice!).

This 93 minute dvd is a Nick Junior production that just got released on October 13, 2009. It has all your preschoolers favorite characters- Wow!Wow!Wubzy, Walden, Widget and Daisy. The dvd features bonus treats with Wubbzy activity sheets, coloring pages, music videos and sneak peeks.

Another big bonus is a 'Sing a song' cd featuring 28 special numbers like We're not same, That's what friends are for, Don't give up and You are you.

Angels Pop Up book- Chuck Fischer (Festive R&G)

Here's a beautiful gift book by Chuck Fischer- having worked in a print facility back home I know how hard it is to make an exquisite pop up book and Angels definitely is a work of art.

My favorite pop up page is that of Daniel in the Lions Den
and also the angel Gabriel's visit to Mary to tell her of the Savior's coming. The photograph does little justice to the intricate details and the beauty of the pop up.

Personally I enjoyed the art and paid very little attention to the text....but there is a lot of history and information on the background of Biblical and secular angels and details on the hierarchy of angels.

This book is the 6th pop up book Chuck Fischer has produced. His work as an artist is well known the world over and his art has been reproduced on fabrics , wallpaper, paper products and even fine china.

Buy it:

Angels is a Little, Brown and Company publication (Hachette Book Group) and can be bought online or at your local bookstore. The suggested retail price is 30 US$.

Win it:

One reader will win Angels by Chuck Fischer

Boon's Bug Pod (Festive R&G)

When I think of Boon Inc. the words that bounce to mind are sassy, fun, innovative but practical products that I can use in my home, for my child.

Look at the vibrancy a snatch of products from their portfolio commands.

We were sent Boon's Bug Pod, fashioned on the lines of one of the company's first products- the Frog Pod.

This bright little lady bug is more than just a pretty aesthetic piece to be hung up on your bathroom wall. She can:

* Store all your little one's bath toy's saving you the trouble of running to the toy room to get that bucketful of 'squeakies' each time it's bubble bath time.

* She can scoop up all those wet bath toys after the 'bubble soak'.
* She can even wash off those soap suds and little 'grime-lets' without a struggle. (Making sure you don't have any water retention in her storage pouch and future odd damp odors and sticky feels...ick!)

* She's easy to stick onto the wall, using the adhesive strips that hold the main pod and each time you use the body to scoop out toys, all you need to do is detach the red case, use and fix back again. Simple!

* There's a little space behind her antennae to hold your little one's shampoo and soap bar/body wash. You can even hang a shower cap off one antenna and a loofah off the other!! She's one strong ladybug, this one!

If you have a little fella at home, don't worry...you can buy the Frog Pod instead.

Froggy does everything Little Miss Bug does and they both retail for the same price - 34.99 US$.

This will make a great Christmas gift for ...... honestly.....Mommy....easy clean ups after bath time and a great way to make the bathroom look colorful, uncluttered and practically cute!

Buy it:

Poloppo (Festive R&G)

Poloppo is one company that's on my 'Loves' list. Why? Simply because they have a simple but profound mission- 'encourage creativity in children everywhere'. I love that.

Here's what the word 'Poloppo' means
"A magical place, created and existing in the minds of all children. It is a safe place to explore, create and invent with unrestrained imagination for the future world that children will inherit and inhabit. The word Poloppo is without pre-existing meaning. Nor is it an acronym. It simply refers to a place of inspiration, vision and hope shared by children all over the world."

Now how neat is that?

I've mentioned in several posts that we have a little artist in our home. Her drawing board (one of those draw-erase ones)is on the coffee table in the living room as she needs to draw morning, noon and night! So obviously when we were sent the T-me! DYO T-shirt kit someone had a field day with the paper and art supplies!!

We did shapes, people, squiggles and animals but each sheet would get either a spot or a stain or Bunny girl would decide that she didn't want the specific art on her T-shirt.

After over a long month of patiently waiting for Bunny girl to draw something and give me the thumbs up....we finally got 'a Bunny girl approved' masterpiece.....a picture of our family! (Which I personally feel was definitely worth that long wait!) With the masterpiece in hand, all I needed to do next was fill in the details on the form, have Bunny girl pick her T-shirt color of choice, tick the right size and pop in all the forms and the art into the envelope and post it out.

I honestly don't remember how long it took, but I do know it was less than 2 weeks from the date I posted the envelope that Bunny girl received a package in her name. The look on her face was priceless when she saw her work of art on the T-shirt

....she was so proud of the work and shy at the same time! We were thrilled!!

The T-me! DYO T shirt kit contains
  • Square white sheets of paper (we ran out of the sheets they sent us so I just cut regular white paper up into the same size-thanks Cherie for letting me know we could do that!)
  • 10 mini markers (you can also use crayons if your child is more comfortable with using crayons. Bunny girl used a black marker for the people and I drew her a heart that she filled in with red crayon...both look great on the shirt.)
  • The forms to fill in with your details (You can order more than one T-shirt but please note that only the 1st T-shirt comes free with the kit)
  • A prepaid envelope to send in the artwork
The short sleeved T-me! DYO T-shirt kit costs 32.50 US$ while a T-me Direct costs a little less (between 21.50-28.50 US$).

With the T-me Direct you don't receive a kit, you just need to upload or send in your child's art. Plus with a T-me Direct order you will receive a free i-phone wallpaper of your child's art. (for a limited time only)

This would make a super Christmas prezzie!

Win it:

One reader will win a T-me! DYO T-shirt kit.

Here's how you can win it:

1. Mandatory entry (without this, all other entries will be disqualified)-

Tell me who you'd like to win this kit for.

Additional entries:

- 2. Subscribe to my blog (remember you need to activate the subscription if you subscribe via email) or Follow my blog & leave a comment stating that you subscribe or follow.

- 3. Blog about this giveaway (leave a comment with a link to your blog post)

3 Holiday DVD Collections (Festive R&G)

Love it!! 3 Great Holiday DVD Collections for your preschooler. Each collection holds 3 dvds full of fun, adventure and winter fun. (Atleast 2 out of the 3 in each hold winter themed episodes.)

Each collection is a Hit Entertainment and Lionsgate production and all 3 collections have just entered the market this October 13th, 2009, retailing at an original price of 19.98 US$ each.

Our favorite....yes you guessed right!....was the Barney's Tee-riffic Holiday collection which was definitely the most 'Christmassy' feeling with all the songs and festive story themes.

The collection includes:
  • Winter Wonderland- A 6 episode collection featuring the adventures of Barney, Bob the Builder, Thomas, Fireman Sam, Kipper and Pingu. (Run time: Approx 60 minutes)
  • Can You Sing That Song- Not really a Winter themed dvd but a very enjoyable one as Barney, BJ and Baby Bop play a fun jukebox game that involves guessing their favorite songs and singing popular numbers. (Run time: Approx 50 minutes)
  • Night Before Christmas- This is a Barney adventure movie in which Barney, BJ, Baby Bop and their friends take a trip to the North Pole and spend time with Santa Claus and have fun with some fun toys in his workshop. (Run time: Approx 57 minutes)

Buy it:

Amazon.com sells Barney's Tee-riffic Holiday collection for a reduced priced at 13.99 US$.

The next 2 collections are any little boys favorites!

The Sodor Friends Holiday Collection features our good old Thomas and his Chugga Chugga Choo Choo buddies

The collection includes:
  • Thomas' Snowy Surprise- An adventure filled with excitement as Sodor village waits with bated breath to see if they will actually get their Yule tree in time and will Thomas and His Friends see 'Jack Frost' or not?! Each of the 6 episodes hold winter engine fun and 5 fun bonus features. (Run time: Approx 95 minutes, including bonus features)
  • Thomas and the Toy Workshop- 6 Thomas and friends episodes, 2 sing along songs, and 2 bonus features that include a game. (Run time: Approx 50 minutes)
  • Races, Rescues & Runaways- A Thomas episode is never complete without a whiz around the tracks and what about trouble on the lines? There's quite a bit of that in these 6 episodes but as always the friends pull through for each other and the unity in Sodor reigns on! (Run time: Approx 37 minutes)

Buy it:

Amazon.com sells the Sodor Friends Holiday Collection for a reduced priced at 13.99 US$.

The Building Crew Holiday Collection includes:
  • Bob's White Christmas- With winter comes the additional chore of shoveling off the snow and clearing roads but Bob and his buddies find all work and no play is just no fun at all...so up come some winter activities like decorating a snowman, a tree and more!(Run time: Approx 45 minutes)
  • Snowed Under- The Bobblesberg Winter Games arrive and all's well till snow covers all the courses. Bob and his team are called to the rescue but can they work fast enough to get the courses cleared out and areas rebuilt before the games begin?(Run time: Approx 167 minutes)
  • Digging for Treasure-3 'digging' episodes featuring Scoop, Scruffty the dog and Bob's new metal detector! (Run time: Approx 30 minutes)

Energize your Blog with Dominique (Week 1)

Starting this Monday, for 5 weeks, Dominique Goh from 'Learning with Dominique' will be a guest blogger on Energizer Bunny's Mommy Reports.

I won Dominique's blog giveaway a while ago and part of the prize package was 5 guest post articles. I thought a topic that would benefit all of us would be how to build a blog that appeals to more visitors. Dominique jumped on it and has beautifully titled the series- 'Energize Your Blog' .

Feel free to leave any comments, questions, suggestions below each post.

Week 1- How to Make Your Blog Unique

Many blogs are “born” daily as many take to blogging online to express their thoughts and socialize. There are millions of blogs around in the blogosphere. How then can you make your blog unique and not just another cookie cutter blog?

The look of your site is very important. When a visitor surfs up your website it must be able to captivate their interest or else they may click away in less then 2 seconds.

How to make your site appealing?

There are some elements you need to take note of for your site to be found appealing.

1. Template Design

A personalized header with clear graphics make a great difference to your blog. It reflects your personality and also gives you the “feel” of what the blog is about. Also if your blog template is clear and allows easy navigation it would definitely be captivating for your audience. Use fonts that are legible and in a dark colors to make easy reading.

2. Linking within and out from your blog

One of the most annoying things would be to have broken links in your blog. I personally find it irritating to click on something and find that it reads 'page not found'. You can easily address this matter by installing the 'Broken Link checker' plugin if you are using a self-installed Word Press blog.

Linking to key posts or other related posts within your site will make it easier for readers to find other related reads. You can use the 'Link Within' widget or the 'Related post' plugin for Word Press blogs to enable this feature. Installing such a feature will tempt your readers to stay longer on your site as they may be interested in reading other articles which you may have.

3. Make it easy to contact you.

Have your contact form visible on the tabs on your blog. Sometimes you may have readers who may like to contact you and it can be frustrating if they are unable to find a way to do so.

4. Make it easy to find content on your blog

Have a search function and also categorize your blog by using topic categories. You can also list your most recent posts on the sidebar so that your audience gets a feel about what is happening on the blog.

5. Declutter

Remove unnecessary videos, links and buttons on your sidebar. It not only slows down the time taken to load up your site but also makes your site look messy.

Eco Touch (Festive R&G)

I know you're going to ask me..."How fun a Christmas gift can an EcoTouch car care something be?" Let me answer that with 3 visuals.....

The Postal Carrier chap rings the doorbell and there's a heavy, mysterious looking package for Hubby dearest.

"What's this....a hint?" "No, no....these aren't cleaning products for our home Darling...take them out of the box and see!"

Now if Hubby dear was not as camera shy for this blog, the next picture would be the expression of ultimate joy!...But alas...you will just have to use your imagination and move onto the next visual!

Now isn't this great?! 6 dedicated EcoTouch Car Care products for Hubby's car. (and yours too!...I'm telling you Hubby will love these products so much that he'll do your car too!!)

That's not all...these aren't just your regular car care products, these products were created by 2 environmentalists- James Dudra and Anne Ruozzi in 2007, with the sole purpose of providing car owners with products that are
  • Chemical free (No isopropyl alcohol, synthetic fragrances, dyes or other chemicals and petroleum distillates)
  • Plant based
  • Do not require the use of water and
  • Safe for the user and the environment.
These products have also been given the exclusive seal of approval by Green America.

The EcoTouch Car Care kit includes:
  • A Waterless Car Wash and Polish (24 oz)- This is a great cleaning agent especially when your car gets really mud-spotted and you see smileys drawn in the dust on the body. If you stay in an apartment like we do, it's not always easy to wash your car anytime you please, thus keeping this stashed away in the car is always beneficial! Another big plus is the fact that you not only get to clean your car but also leave it with a nice, shiny look, thanks to the polish combination and best of all...NO water is needed in the cleaning process!
  • A Dashboard Protect (24 oz)-I face this problem many a times...while waiting at a traffic signal I notice dull staining on my dashboard and when I start to work on it, the lights turn green. In my mind I also make a mental note to work on the areas in the back that are Bunny girl smudged but by the time I reach home, I 'clean' forget (pun intended!) about doing something about the stain problem. With the Dashboard protect in the kit, I just can't forget plus it has a light lavender fragrance leaving the car smelling faintly flowery...mmmm. (Just a note...the scent's not overpowering....guys like it too!!)
  • Metal Polish (24 oz)- This is a guy's 'make my ride look cool' tool! It gives the car's body a more pronounced sheen than if you just used the Car Wash and Polish agent.
  • Carpet and Upholstery (24 oz)- If you made the mistake of getting a nice cream colored mat and have an energetic, park loving, mud jumping toddler...then this is the product you need! You may need to spray the area and scrub several times with a washing brush/scrubber to get the stubborn stains out completely. This is another agent you need to keep stashed away for 'little kid accidents' in the car!
  • Window clear (24 oz)- This is one of my favorite products and just writing about it makes me decide I need to give my car's windows a nice little treatment later this morning. The product affirms no streaking on the windows after spraying and cleaning ....maybe its the way I do it but I do get a few streaks but a rub or two later, in the area, leaves the windows looking like we don't travel with Bunny girl in our car!! (But honestly....I love looking at the little window smudge marks outlining her tiny fingers especially on her side...it's so cute!)
  • All Purpose (24 oz)- this is your 'use on anything else, not already covered' agent. We've not used this yet as all our cleaning needs have been covered by the agents mentioned above. The All Purpose agent can be used on hard surfaces and removes oil, dirt and dust on the car's surface. (If you don't use it for the car...you can bring it into the house and use it to clean your surface tops!)
  • Pack of 2 Micro fiber towel packs- it is advised that you use your cleaning agents with these towels. Dedicate one towel for the wet wipes and rubs and the other for dry. These do get dirty quickly so you will need to wash these out regularly. I prefer hand washing them as I'm concerned our machine will just pull out the fibers.
Now tell me....don't you think this will make a great Christmas gift for the men folk in the family?
(Ladies...it makes easy cleaning for you too considering you don't need to get all drenched with water and soap suds!
)

eeBoo (Festive R&G)

What better way to kick off our Festive Giveaways Gala than with some educational toys for your preschooler! eeBoo is an Educational Toy and Gift company that has a whole bunch of unique 'learning games' that are fun but at the same time do their job of teaching your child something new.

(Unfortunately their website is under construction, but if you click on the links in the left margin, you will be able to go into the individual product pages.)

Bunny girl was sent 2 fun preschool games. I love both as one helps her get a grasp on phonics and easy, small word spelling while the other helps fuel her creativity.

The Animal Spelling Puzzles are great for kids who are learning the fundamentals of letter sounds and putting sounds together to form words. The visual pictures help in putting the pieces together when your little one gets a little jumbled up in putting the letters in the right order. As mentioned earlier, Bunny girl is onto the 'Phonics' train now so I ask her to find the phonic sounds for a particular animal and get her to put the word together. The more you play the game, the more familiar your child gets with the sounds and soon the ten 3 letter animal's names will become easy sight words for your early reader.

I wasn't able to find the eeBoo price for this puzzle on the site (due to the work they're doing to revamp the same) but I do know it is available. If you would like to order a set, you can drop a line to the team and they will mail you back with details on pricing and order information.

This game is also available in Barnes and Noble's online store for 15.95 US$

The Tell Me A Story game is our family game. We spread out all 36 cards on the bed and pick a card at a time and narrate our own little version of what we think is happening in that card. The goal of the game is to pick up a card at a time and link each card's random storyline to the next card picked.

We generally sandwich Bunny girl into our turns as she is still learning to connect the story narrated by the person before her to her own. It's lots of fun as we generally end up giggling away with the crazy story plots we end up in. The three of us enjoy the game as we have a good laugh and for Hubby and self, its fun to see the exciting, creative twists Bunny girl can bring up with her little story narratives.

The Tell Me A Story packs are available at 9.95 US$ a set

Both these games will make great Christmas gifts for your preschooler.

One reader will win an Animal Spelling Puzzle game and a Tell Me a Story pack
