CLOSED: Say Cheese with LeapFrog's Digital Camera (+Christmas Carnival Giveaway #13)

This post is a 'Christmas Carnival' feature...The Carnival of Giveaways (or should I say Christmas prezzies?) on Energizer Bunny's Mommy Reports from November 1- December 5 2010.
For a list of all the live giveaways visit 'The Christmas Carnival Center'

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

If your little one loves grabbing hold of your expensive camera to take photographs and you do want to encourage his love for photography but not at the risk of allowing your camera kiss the ground, consider getting him LeapFrog's Digital Camera manufactured by 30 year old consumer's electronic manufacturer Sakar.

This compact, easy to hold camera is perfect to start an amateur photographer off on his/her 'snapping' 'ventures! Your young photographer will also be tickled to hear the camera exclaim "Great Shot!" and "Say Cheese" whenever it's clicked.

The camera uses 3 AAA batteries and comes with an inbuilt flash which I would advise be used only in poor lighting scenarios else the pictures you take will look like they're over-exposed. We personally think this camera works the best with good lighting scenarios, minus the use of the flash.

You will also need to teach your child to wait between each photograph, if using the flash mode, as it does take a little while before the flash triggers and the picture is taken. (I guess this will be a good place to start teaching them the importance of being patient!)

The camera has a 1.5" display screen, a resolution of 2.1 megapixels and you can take about 100 photographs thanks to the built in memory storage in the camera.
(But make sure you download the pictures on your camera before the batteries die on you because a dead battery also means that all your pictures will get automatically erased from the camera.....very disappointing for a little one!)

Bunny girl takes some great photographs with our 'grown up' camera so we really hope this will be a great way to encourage her love for photography, even though she's only four and a half years old.
The camera does capture some nice outdoor stationary shots but most of the pictures with a moving target come out blurred.

The LeapFrog Digital Camera also comes with a photo editing software which is fun to use to play around with the photographs taken, incorporate into games, puzzles and other fun stuff.

So are you all set to allow your child to run around with a camera without holding your breath anymore?

CLOSED: Educational fun for all ages with LeapFrog (+BTS Giveaway #28)

This post is a 'Back To School 2010 Carnival' feature on Energizer Bunny's Mommy Reports.

The Carnival runs from August 15-August 28 2010. For a list of all the live giveaways visit 'The BTS 2010 Stop!'

I decided to end the Back to School Carnival 2010 with my favorite educational toy company LeapFrog

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

LeapFrog
continues to storm the children's educational toy market with innovative, technology based products that honestly get better as the months go by!

I had the opportunity to review their LeapFrog Text and Learn and their LeapFrog Chat and Count cell phone.

The Text and Learn is one of Bunny girl's favorites especially since she's been playing around with letters and trying to spell.

Here's what your child can do with this game:
(As excerpted from my earlier review)
  • Press the letter keys and listen to a particular alphabet and their phonetic sound (Teaches alphabet sounds and identification)
  • Click the right alphabet keys to match the alphabets placed inside bubbles to pop them (Helps identify alphabets and find them on the keyboard format pad. This teaches a child to adapt to finding alphabets on a computer keyboard quickly when he/she begins to use the computer)
  • Direct Scout to reach his home while obeying instructions to click specific shapes on the screen. (Helps identify and recognize shapes while learning to maneuver to the specific shape while using the arrow keys only )
  • Watch Scout dance to different music forms. (You can dance along too....ready for some salsa?!)
  • Receive text messages from Scout and if your child is a little older and able to spell, then he/she can send text messages back.
  • Learn the days of the week with Scout and check out his schedule for each day.

The Text and Learn is an engaging, educational toy suggested to be age appropriate for children between the ages of 3 and 6.

On the other hand, the LeapFrog Chat and Count cell phone is better suited for younger children (Age suggestion: 18 months- 3 years)

This is a fun toy for little ones who always want to get their hands on Mom or Dad's mobile. Ofcourse it may not be as enticing at first but I'm sure it will grab their attention once they realize each numbered button when pressed activates the voice reader to speak out the specific number. The child will also be able to watch little animated pictures of Scout on the phone's screen and listen to the few musical tunes included.

I personally feel this is a neat toy for children as young as a year old but may not be very challenging for a three year old.

LeapFrog has my Mommy stamp of approval and I can't wait to share my thoughts on the new Leapster Explorer in an upcoming review! (To describe in just one word, I'd have to say....'super-tastic'!!)

Buy it:

You can buy a LeapFrog Text and Learn for 21.99 US$ and a LeapFrog Chat and Count cell phone for 14.99 US$ online or in these stores.

Win it:

One reader will have the opportunity to win a LeapFrog Text and Learn while another reader will have the opportunity to win a LeapFrog Chat and Count cell phone.

Leap Frog's 'Text and Learn' Review and Giveaway

Are you tired of getting your kids cars, dolls and toys that are fun, fun, fun but don't really have an educational learning aspect in any way? I know kids love non educational toys a whole lot but as a parent I believe it's important to have a balanced ratio of educational and non educational toys. With Christmas soon approaching, as promised, I will be featuring great gift options for the little ones you love and today...well....it's time for an educational toy from Leap Frog. (Whoa....those sure are loud yippees!)

Leap Frog has stormed the market with their innovative, 'kid-engrossing', technologically educational, fun toys for kids as young as a few months old to 18 year olds.(errr can we still call them kids?)

Bunny girl owns three Leap Frog products that she received as presents. She loves all three though her present attention grabber is Leap Frog's new 'Text and Learn' toyHere's what your child can do with the Text and Learn game:
I can have Bunny girl sit on the couch for over 20 minutes with the Text and Learn and not move an inch! (Ok....now that got you motivated to buy this for your little one, right?!)

This is a great toy for a child as young as 3 and can be just as much fun for a 6 year old. It retails for 21.99 US$ and is available online or in these stores.
