The Buzz:
Zonderkidz, the Children's Publishing Division of Zondervan has recently introduced the Princess Parables series by Jeanna Young, a mother of two young Princesses of her own.

God impressed upon Jeanna the need for young girls to have Princess role models with character and depth (Thank God for her sensitivity to God's Leading) and thus was birthed the Princess Parables series.

We had the opportunity to review the first two publications- Princess Grace and the Little Lost Kitten and Princess Joy's Birthday Blessings.

In Princess Grace and the Little Lost Kitten, Princess Grace promised her father she would care for the kittens she found. But Poppy, the curious one, has run away. Princess Grace must find him, even if it means searching the entire kingdom . . . even braving the Black Woods. Along the way, she remembers a parable Jesus told about God’s great love for us and how he too searches for each one who is lost.


This story centers around the parable of the shepherd who leaves all 99 sheep to look for that 1 sheep that went missing. It teaches the young reader how precious she is to God and that Jesus went to all lengths to make her a part of His Heavenly Kingdom. It also gently reinforces that God desires that she share the Love of Christ with those around her, that they too may experience His Kingdom.

Bunny girl's favorite between the two books is Princess Joy's Birthday Blessings, perhaps the fact that she received this on her 5th birthday, made it all the more special.


In the book, Princess Joy can’t wait for her birthday. There will be treats, games, and an enormous cake with delicious icing! But when the other princes and princesses can’t come and Princess Joy finds out, she comes up with a surprising plan to fill her day with special guests and unexpected gifts. Will it work? Her idea, shared in Princess Joy’s Birthday Blessing, comes from a parable Jesus told about a party a lot like hers.

We were able to discuss how God is able to make even the most disappointing situations turn out to actually fantastic.

We read this book the night before her Birthday Adventure outdoors with preschool friends at the local Nature Park.
The next day's weather forecast predicted rain but we'd been praying that God would bless the even with great weather. The morning of the party was overcast and an hour or two before we left home, the downpour began. We sat down as a family and prayed, trusting God to speak to the rain to stop and just about 10 minutes before we had to leave for the venue, the rains stopped, the skies cleared and the weather was gorgeous!
Bunny girl saw God make something that looked like it was going to be an utter washout, actually turn out to be a blessing for us because the cool weather brought out some beautiful birds and little creatures. The children had a blast!

I would definitely recommend these series to all Mommies and Daddies with a little Princess at home!
