I've taught Sunday School classes for toddlers and preschoolers for over 6 years and since the past 2 years, have been teaching the Rainbows class (Ages 3-5) in our church's Missionettes ministry. I have learned that a child is never too young to learn the Word of God. It just depends on how it is presented to them. With the help of puppets, songs, a short lesson, crafts and coloring sheets, you will find that a story from the Bible will stick to memory easily.

The Buzz:

The resources in the Bible Kids Fun Zone is designed to cater to the needs of preschoolers between the ages of 2 years-5 years while the Sunday School Fun Zone is more geared towards the younger preschool segment of 2-3 year olds.

The Bible Kids Fun Zone features 12 specific Bible based themes . These include

• Creation/God's Character (6 lessons)
• Noah's Ark (5 lessons)
• Fruits of the Spirit (9 lessons)
• Friends (6 Puppy Pals lessons)
• God's Army/Timothy lessons (6 lessons)
• Armor of God (6 lessons), Thanksgiving (1 lesson), Nativity (4 lessons), Palm Sunday (1 lesson), Easter (2 lessons)
• Good Samaritan (1 lesson)
• Father's Day (1 lesson)

These constitute a total of 41 lessons for toddlers (ages 2-3) and 48 for ages 4-5.


The Sunday School Fun Zone resources are split into two segments- Year One (Emphasis on the Old Testament) and Year Two (Emphasis on the New Testament). Topics include lessons, crafts and activities on

• God Loves Me
• Heaven
• Obey
• Ruth
• The Upper Room
• Prophecy
• Worship and
• Psalm 23

.... to name a few.

Virginia doesn't just throw together a list of things you can do for a specific class lesson and leaves it at that but practically charts out the class with such detail that all you need to do is grab the supplies, read through the instructions for the lesson, pray and then head off!

Take the Palm Sunday Sunday School lesson as an example....


The lesson plan includes

• The list of concepts the child will learn after working on the lesson
• The instructions for 'Teacher Preparation' prior to class
• Pictures to be used while narrating the story
• The script for the story
• A mini prayer to be prayed after the story is shared
• Coloring pages for the children to use, either as a take home activity, or in class
  

• Instructions to make two Palm Sunday crafts

• Pretend Play Activities

• Action Rhymes and
• Songs

The instruction we give our little ones in the Word of God is so valuable. The Word of God sown is never futile. My "Rainbows" kids have had such fun using the craft ideas from the Bible Kids Fun Zone and now I'm looking forward to working through the sites during the Summer with Bunny girl and her buddies when they come over.
