Sharing in a Home Cooked Meal (Day 9 of Giving + Day 8's report)

30-Day Giving Challenge

As a hostel resident during my college days, there were many days I'd find myself craving for a home cooked meal. Thankfully I was blessed with a loving family who stayed a ten minute drive away from the hostel and had told me I could walk into their home anytime I wanted to eat something 'home-cooked'.
It may not have been a big deal to them but for me it meant a lot. Their simple gesture of opening their home to me and providing me with a meal whenever I wanted has inspired me to do the same, after Hubby and I got married.

Do you know somebody who stays alone without family? A college student who comes to the same church as you? A single mother supporting young children?
On Day 9 of the 30 Day Giving Challenge, why don't you whip up a meal and invite them over to share your family, food and love ?

It took me a few years to realize that I don't have to make my meals way too elaborate and get stressed at the end of the evening. It can be a simple casserole or a lasagna. The food is just a way to bring everyone together. The warmth and love your family embraces your guest with is what counts.

P.S. I didn't get to post our Day 8 of the 30 Day Giving Challenge, so here's a brief report.....
A family from our church is going through a hard time. The husband needs to undergo intensive treatment for the next several months and they have two young children.
We thought it may help the Mommy if she had a way to entertain the kids for pockets through the morning with some fun preschool learning dvds. The DVDs have been picked and now Bunny girl's all excited to hand them over to the little boy when we meet them in church on Wednesday.

The 30 Day Giving Challenge is really not hard. You can be a part of the same too. All you have to do is to keep your eyes open and your heart sensitive to the needs of people around you. God will use you to be His Hands to help, encourage, support and love on someone in need, in creative and exciting ways.
Be Blessed!

Found this post through 30 days. I am a meal maker, too. I was blessed to receive meals after each of my children were born, and then after the death of a family member. Meals when people are truly, truly, exhausted by a new life circumstance are so appreciated. I used to stress what I would make for others in the beginning, and then I realized that yes, as long as it is simple and comfort food, it is the best! Oh also a great way to give after someone has had surgery, too.
