Will you be an Angel? (Day 4 of Giving)

30-Day Giving Challenge

Last night during family prayer , Bunny girl asked if I could read a story out of the routine reading line (We're trying to go story by story from start to finish) from her Day by Day-Begin To Read Bible. The lesson she picked was one she'd flipped to, seen and thought would make a good Bible lesson for the day and boy, was it a Rhema word!

The story is titled 'Ready For You' and is based out of Matthew 25:31-45 and reads thus....

Jesus said " Someday I will come back. Then I will say to some people, 'Come! My Father's Kingdom has been ready for you since the world was made. I was hungry, thirsty and sick, and you took care of me.'
'When did we do this?' they will ask
'When you helped other people' I will say.
To some people, I will say, 'Go away, I was hungry, thirsty and sick and you did not take care of me'
'When did that happen?they will ask
'When you did not help others' I will say"

What an apt story for the evening.... for the week....the 30 Day Giving Challenge....our lifetime ahead.

On Day 4 of the 30 Day Giving Challenge, I just had to share my love for Salvation Army's Angel Giving Tree Program. I think this is such a wonderful way to bless children in need with a special toy, clothes or other essentials they've asked for.

You can look through the 'Christmas request lists' for your area online or just pick a child to sponsor from an Angel Giving Tree placed near your local JC Penney store.

To make this giving activity more meaningful, ask your child to help you pick a few children to bless upon. (Because Bunny girl is still young, I picked children from her age range and told her what their parents had requested for them.)
Once you have the packages ready, sit together as a family, lay hands upon each package and ask your little one to pray for the child receiving that specific gift.
I know this is not necessary but we did this last year and it was such a beautiful experience. We were blessed just by listening to our little one pray short, simple and innocent prayers for each child. (I'm sure she made God smile too!)

Will you help be an Angel too?

Angel Tree is so much fun! I remember doing this as a child. My Mom and I got a little girl off the tree who was the same age as me. I picked out all her gifts. I was so excited to give to someone who was the same age as me! Today I still love buying presents for Angel Tree children. I can never stay within the budget they give you though. It tickles me to buy them everything they ask for on their list. Great suggestion!
