Being sensitive to God tugging on your heart (Day 2 of Giving)

30-Day Giving Challenge

When my husband first moved to the United States, his beginnings were hard. He was in an alien land, was yet to make new friends, had not received his first paycheck and needed to furnish his first apartment with whatever funds he had on hand. It didn't help much that he arrived during one of the coldest winters our State had since years. To stay warm after work, he'd layer clothes and would sleep on a single comforter (to serve as his mattress) and cover himself with 2 bedsheets at bedtime. (It was just too much to afford a mattress and pay off all the expenses that mount up when you just move into a new apartment etc)

There were nights he'd lay awake, cold and homesick. One night, frustrated with everything, he cried out to the LORD and asked for God to just give him a sign that this was where he truly needed to be. Instantly he felt a peace in his spirit and felt a strong impression to go outside. Hubby initially tried to fight off the nudging as it was well into the night and freezing outside but the prodding only grew.
As soon as he stepped outdoors, his glance fell upon the nearby dumpster and just a few steps before it stood a brand new queen sized mattress that someone had just left to be carried away. Coincidence? I think not!! A total God-incidence!

Someone was sensitive to God tugging at his/her heart to place their new mattress in the right place for my husband to be blessed in his time of need.

God can use you to bless someone in need. Be sensitive to listen to those little nudges you feel inside, those 'God-tugs' at your heart.

For Day 2 of the 30 Day Giving Challenge , I want to share the wonderful work the Salvation Army is doing when you donate your clothes, furniture, toys and other odds and ends that you know your family does not use but is in good condition.

We've been teaching Bunny girl that we don't just throw out the clothes she outgrows, but we save them to pass on to someone who can use the same. The same with her toys, games and books.
The Salvation Army sows the proceeds reaped from selling your donated goods in their Thrift Stores, into their Adult Rehabilitation Program.

Will you do a 'God-tug-giving-clean' through your home today?

God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
(2 Corinthians 9:8)
