There's nothing as scary as sitting in front of your computer watching a virus eat up all the files you've stored or realizing you can't access any folders because your laptop seems to have crashed. Ofcourse the blow is a little easier if you know you've stored most of your files and folders in an external hard drive....but what if you haven't?

A friend of ours faced this gut wrenching predicament when all their first child's photographs got wiped out along with important files on their computer. They hadn't stored anything on an external storage device nor had they uploaded any pictures or data onto the internet. Now all they have are memories and nothing physical. Scary!! After that incident, we've been regularly saving away our files and folders onto our Seagate hard drive. I love our FreeAgent Go drive but I think their GoFlex Ultra-Portable Hard Drive is their Creme de la Creme.

I love that this sturdy (in functionality) storage device can store upto 1 TB in files/folders/data and comes with a pre-loaded easy to use back up software.
(Even a computer novice will be able to back up files with this. The software guide leads you step-wise through the process.)

You can connect this to your computer/laptop and schedule automatic back-ups or just do your back-ups as and when you can (like we do) but make sure you don't go weeks on end without doing the same!

Not only is this drive easily upgradeable but you can also store files from your PC to Mac and vice versa without needing to reformat the same.
( Note: Our drive came with a USB 2.0 plug and play connectivity but you can also get this with a USB 3.0.)
