The Great American Bake Sale...Bake a Difference!

Did you know that this year 17 million children will go hungry in the 'Land of Plenty' that we live in? The figures are alarming and in no way are a fabrication of the reality that actually exists in many homes. We know our kids have a hot plate of food ready in an hour or two for dinner but for many the next meal is uncertain.

For the third year in a row, Domino Sugar and C&H Sugar have joined forces with Share Our Strength in a nationwide campaign to attempt to end childhood hunger by the year 2015 through the Great American Bake Sale.

What's beautiful is that you too can help play an important part in this campaign....
You CAN 'Bake' a Difference!

Here's a short video clip that will encourage you to join the campaign...

Don't worry, everyone needs a little help. Domino Sugar and C&H Sugar have set up a dedicated website to provide you with all the resources you need to be a part of the Great American Bake Sale. Click on these links for :
If this is still too hard, you can buy ready-made bakery products and host your Bake Sale with those.

We've been teaching Bunny girl how there are children who are not as fortunate as she is and each month, she is encouraged to go through her toys/games and put aside the fun stuff she has either outgrown or doesn't play with any more. Once she has collected a nice pile, we put it in a big trash bag and hand it over to a Missionary in our church who takes it to the needy children in a rural area she works in.

The Great American Bake Sale was another opportunity for her to help. Together we both baked brownies (I was not very brave to experiment with some of the yummy recipes on the site) from the ready mix packs

and were able to put together quite a bit to fill a huge bag with non perishables that included cereal, energy bars, canned food, rice krispies packs, goldfish packs, pop tarts, healthy snacks and cookies that could be handed over to our local chapter for the kids.

Even if you don't host a Bake Sale you can help with this campaign by submitting monetary donations on the SOS Great American Bake sale secure link.

No amount is too small....every bit counts to making a difference.... every cent sown will help in the 'No Kid Hungry By 2015' campaign.

I hope we can do this again some time soon as this is such a noble cause to pledge to and is a cause every family can, together, chip in to help with.
