The Buzz:

With Good Night, Little Sea Otter, children will want to settle down for bedtime with Little Sea Otter as he snuggles on Mama's chest in a cozy bed of sea kelp and bids good night to all his ocean friends. From sea lions to sea snails, seagulls to seals and sea urchins, it seems he'll never close his eyes. But gently rocking seas, twinkling stars, and Mama's loving arms lull Little Sea Otter—and children everywhere—to dreamland.

In Good Night, Little Sea Otter, little Sea Otter insists on saying goodnight to all his ocean buddies while Mama Otter patiently waits for him to finally close his little eyes. This sweet story reminds me of my Bunny girl who finds practically every excuse under the sun to close her tired little eyes and drift off into dreamland.

I love how Janet is able to thread in a little "animal education" for her young readers even in this story. She does this through a snippet in the story on how Mama sea otters actually wrap themselves with their babies in kelp strands to prevent them from floating apart and into the big, dark ocean.

This is another wonderful Janet Halfmann book for your child's library.
