CLOSED: Educational fun for all ages with LeapFrog (+BTS Giveaway #28)

This post is a 'Back To School 2010 Carnival' feature on Energizer Bunny's Mommy Reports.

The Carnival runs from August 15-August 28 2010. For a list of all the live giveaways visit 'The BTS 2010 Stop!'

I decided to end the Back to School Carnival 2010 with my favorite educational toy company LeapFrog

LeapFrog
continues to storm the children's educational toy market with innovative, technology based products that honestly get better as the months go by!

I had the opportunity to review their LeapFrog Text and Learn and their LeapFrog Chat and Count cell phone.

The Text and Learn is one of Bunny girl's favorites especially since she's been playing around with letters and trying to spell.

Here's what your child can do with this game:
(As excerpted from my earlier review)
  • Press the letter keys and listen to a particular alphabet and their phonetic sound (Teaches alphabet sounds and identification)
  • Click the right alphabet keys to match the alphabets placed inside bubbles to pop them (Helps identify alphabets and find them on the keyboard format pad. This teaches a child to adapt to finding alphabets on a computer keyboard quickly when he/she begins to use the computer)
  • Direct Scout to reach his home while obeying instructions to click specific shapes on the screen. (Helps identify and recognize shapes while learning to maneuver to the specific shape while using the arrow keys only )
  • Watch Scout dance to different music forms. (You can dance along too....ready for some salsa?!)
  • Receive text messages from Scout and if your child is a little older and able to spell, then he/she can send text messages back.
  • Learn the days of the week with Scout and check out his schedule for each day.

The Text and Learn is an engaging, educational toy suggested to be age appropriate for children between the ages of 3 and 6.

On the other hand, the LeapFrog Chat and Count cell phone is better suited for younger children (Age suggestion: 18 months- 3 years)

This is a fun toy for little ones who always want to get their hands on Mom or Dad's mobile. Ofcourse it may not be as enticing at first but I'm sure it will grab their attention once they realize each numbered button when pressed activates the voice reader to speak out the specific number. The child will also be able to watch little animated pictures of Scout on the phone's screen and listen to the few musical tunes included.

I personally feel this is a neat toy for children as young as a year old but may not be very challenging for a three year old.

LeapFrog has my Mommy stamp of approval and I can't wait to share my thoughts on the new Leapster Explorer in an upcoming review! (To describe in just one word, I'd have to say....'super-tastic'!!)
