Never in my wildest of dreams would I have thought I'd say this but thanks to the ingenious creative minds behind the Dinosaur Train I'm actually very interested in learning more about dinosaurs! (Even Bunny girl is now hooked onto all things 'Dino'!)

This morning, PBS kids even hosted a one hour television special to promote the hit CGI animated series Dinosaur Train, featuring Buddy, Tiny and the rest of the Pteranodon family as they embark on their very first underwater adventure exploring the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic oceans to learn more about the aquatic creatures therein.

The underwater adventures will be released on dvd on August 24,2010 and will include these eight exciting, educational episodes

Elmer Elasmosaurus (A giant long necked marine reptile that can hold its breath)
Carla Cretoxyrhina (A friendly little shark)
The Amazing Michelinoceras Brothers (Two creatures that travel backwards)
Paulie Pliosaurus (T-Rex of the ocean)
Elmer Visits The Desert
Shiny's Sea Shells
Jess Hesperornis
The Old Spinosaurus And The Sea

This unique series has already begun to win awards for the casual, informative manner in which preschool aged T-Rex Buddy teaches the young (and adult) viewer basic scientific thinking and skills while diving into a world of natural science, natural history and paleontology. (Who would've thought learning all this could be fun?)

This August 24 2010 release from The Jim Henson Company, PBS Kids and Paramount Entertainment has an approximate run time of 120 minutes and also includes additional bonus features - games, coloring pages, a parental reference guide and a super cool dinosaur reference guide.
