It's never easy when you have young children at home but what would life be like as the parent of a young child with autism?
Jeff Stimpson invites you to share his family's life with autism in his book Alex The Boy.

Alex The Boy is packed with episodes featuring Jeff's autistic son, the challenges he faces each day and the milestones he achieves.

I had my sister, a certified Speech Language Pathologist who works with autistic children, review this book and here's what she had to say....

"I've read several books written by mothers of autistic children but reading one written by a father is a first for me. Alex The Boy has been written in layman's terms making it easy for anyone to understand the struggles a family faces with autism.

This book will, in a way, prepare a new parent to the new life as a special needs parent. Not only will the parent relate to the challenges Alex and his parents face but they will also be comforted by the same.

From the Professional's point of view, it has helped me see things through a special need parent's eyes. It has also given me a clearer perspective on what it's like dealing with an autistic child at home.

You can tell Jeff has put all his emotions out on paper and though he tries to lighten the situation with humor, you can tell his heart aches to have life function with normalcy for Alex.

Alex The Boy will help the layman understand the importance of being sensitive and an encouragement to families of autistic children. Their lives can be made easier with love and support."

I would like to read this book. I had my own trials with my son but he was raised before autism spectrum disorders diagnosis was available so he never received one of these diagnoses.

I don't have autism to deal with, but we do have special needs folks in my extended family and I'd like to better understand.

I would love to win this book, two of my closest friends have children with severe autism. It helps to be able to explain to others what their journey is like on a daily basis.
Best wishes.

I would like to win this book cause I am personally in this situation, my son has Aspergers (high functioning autism)...he is officially undiagnosed but that's what it is, I have known it since he was little and it has been a rough road...I love to hear about other people that have gone through it cause it makes me feel a lot better to know I'm not alone! Whenever I hear about another kid doing the same thing my son does, it makes me feel relieved that someone knows how I feel!
