CLOSED: Project Future: The Inside Story behind the creation of Disney World (+ Giveaway)

A trip to Disney World is always one filled with awe for Hubby and self. It's amazing to think of the vision behind one of the world's best family parks of all time. The attention to detail, the plans behind it all....WOW!

We've always acknowledged that a lot of 'behind the scenes' ground work was done to build it to where it is today but little did we realize how mammoth a task it was for that single individual, Walter "Walt" Elias Disney.

Chad Emerson Denver takes us on a journey back into time with his book Project Future.
A journey that begins on an airplane flight way back in the early 1960's, on a flight with Walt Disney himself.
While others saw 27,000 acres of swamp land and orange groves, he saw potential....a whole new world of possibility......a dream that could become a reality.....
Disney World!

One would think the journey would mean smooth sailing considering the success of Disneyland in California but sadly this was totally the contrary. Opposition, snags, lawsuits and roadblocks emerged every step of the way and surprising to the reader, a lot of the 'hold-backs' came from inside the Disney camp itself!

Project Future is a book that will engage any Disney buff with a pot pourri of interesting technical, legal and social facts to intrigue the reader and provide information that will kindle a greater appreciation for the toil and labor put into making Disney World what it is today.

Chad will share resource nuggets that you may never have heard of before. (A lot of it was a first for me)
For instance, did you know that
  • Disney World could've been in New York?
  • Walt Disney's involvement with project was kept anonymous to the public and media glare for a large chunk of the process?
  • Roy Disney spearheaded the completion of this dream project after Walt Disney succumbed to a brief battle with cancer in December 1966?
Don't underestimate how much information has been packed into these 170 odd pages of Chad's book.
It's a resource chest especially considering that Project Future has been put together without any access to the closely guarded Disney archives.
Kudos Chad!

I love the trek, it takes days to see it all then to go back to your favorite spots! My girls are all older now so we were thinking of taking them again. Last time I was there I really liked Epcot Center. Thank you for sharing this magical giveaway with us!
