40 years of Sunny Days : Sesame Street (Review)

Wow...it has actually been 40 years since Sesame Street first started! '40 years of Sunny Days'! 40 years of quality entertainment, preschool fun and learning. I still remember Bunny girl polished her alphabets with Elmo and counting to 10 without a hitch was thanks to Elmo again. We learnt fun songs, laughed at Ernie and Bert's silly little fights and fell in love with darling Zoe, Abby and ofcourse Elmo.

A month before Bunny girl turned 2, Elmo and the Sesame Street cast toured our area. This was a big treat as we'd planned an Elmo themed party for her the following month. The highlight of the evening was when Cookie monster walked off stage and Bunny girl got to shake his hand (rather he shook hers right off giving her a little fright but later she proudly told me "Cooookie Monter said hi to me")

Bunny girl has been growing up with Sesame Street and I remember as a child watching Sesame street with my sister. This show has a special place in so many families hearts the world over.

To commemorate their 40th anniversary, Sesame Street has released what I call a Sesame Street collector's treasure- '40 years of Sunny Days'. This holds:
  • Over 5 hours of Sesame Street golden moments from the past 40 seasons on 2 dvds that include the famous Rubber duckie song, Elmo's song, Gabby's birth, Slimy's trip into outer space and more
  • Stuff you've always wanted to see from behind the scenes
  • Interviews with the 'big people' behind the 'little fellas'
  • Rehearsal footage
  • Facts and history behind the birth of characters on the show, featured artists and episode 'did you knows'. (For instance did you know that Zoe was created to complement Elmo? The insides of her mouth are the same color as Elmo's fur and Zoe's fur is the same color as Elmo's nose!)
  • A limited edition hard cover 24 paged commemorative book to complement the 40th anniversary tribute.
The '40 years of Sunny Days' pack is sold for 29.93 US$ but Amazon.com has this on sale for 19.99 US$. If you love Sesame Street, you really should get a hold of this pack.

I was always a HUGE Sesame Street fan as a kid...okay who am I kidding, I still am. I absolutely LOVE Super Grover and remember imitating him with my sister when we were little. SUCH a great and educational show and I might just sneak this DVD in to my own stocking this year :)
