Holly Hobbie's 'Fanny & Annabelle'- Book Review and Giveaway (BTSC Bonus)

'Fanny & Annabelle' is a sweet story written by the author of the acclaimed Toot and Puddle books - Holly Hobbie. The storyline revolves around a little girl-Fanny-who decides to make the most of being indoors on a rainy day by creating her very first picture book. The star of the book had to be Fanny's favorite doll, Annabelle.

In Fanny's story Annabelle has to find a present for her Aunt, whose birthday was soon approaching. The problem arrives when she realizes the gift she wanted to buy for her Aunt required more money than she had. The story takes a small twist when Annabelle finds an envelope with money in it....now what? Annabelle's story is determined by the little adventures Fanny actually goes through as she writes the story.

I thought the story was great to teach a child about what to do when they find something on the road that someone else may have dropped. I also like the way the story ends as it teaches a child that a parent's most treasured gifts, most times, are those that are not bought in a store but made out of inspiration from a child's heart, love and a little creativity!

'Fanny & Annabelle' is a Little, Brown and Company publication (Hachette Book Group) and can be bought online or at your local bookstore. The suggested retail price is 16.99$.

The gifst wasn't for me, but for my husband - he was deployed on his second tour and he recieved numerous coloring book pages colored from 4 kids of a guy in his unit. My husband had bougt them swim floaties while all the families were staying at the hotle the few days before deployment, and he was helping them swim, so that was their thank you. He has them put up in his "deployment" box. :)

Any parent or grandparent will vouch that the gifts that touch them the most are treasures
'made' by a child be it art work, (pictures, cards, collages, scribbles ( I have proudly framed one made by my grand daughter when she was just 2 +) writing (expressions of their love) ...you cant buy these off a shop !My home is decorated with works of creativity lovingly done by my daughters and grand daughter.
As for returning something that belongs to someone else reminds me of a time when my daughter returned to a security guard money she found at a busy area while we were out witnessing a raft race..without a SECOND THOUGHT...I was so proud of her !

My most favorite of all hand made gifts was from my whole family. When we bought our house my husband had a slab of concert removed & replaced with all our children's hand prints in it with their names & ages. I have since had it covered with clear plastic to protect it from wear & tear. I love it!

In 1st grade my son made me a keychain for Mother's Day that had a plastic flat bubble that holds a picture he drew of me on one side with "To the Best Mom" and the reverse side he drew his dog, Cochise with the words "The Best Dog". My daughter was 8 when she made me a beautiful Get Well Card that is a mini-book with the pages held together with a ribbon down the centerfold and at the bottom of the last page she wrote "Hallmark" with numbers like a real Hallmark card. Each page has a tiny drawing and a reason why she loves me. All of their handcrated items to me and their Dad are treasures. Now we get drawings from our granddaughter and we laugh at how very long our arms & legs are and smile because we have these wonderful blessings.

My favorite is hard to choose but it would have to be a swan he bought me with his own money and gave it to me when I was in the hospital after just having his baby sister by C section...he asked to be taken to a particular store, and thought of it all on his own.
