I know a lot of little princesses who are eagerly waiting to watch Disney's newest Princess Tiana in the three time Academy Award nominated movie The Princess and the Frog. Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment releases the Blu-Ray & Dvd Combo Pack edition of this movie, all over the US, on March 16, 2010.

Bunny girl loves all the Princesses so naturally when The Princess and the Frog hit our local theater, we decided we'd take her to see Princess Tiana sparkle on the wide screen.

The movie opens in the bayous of Louisiana with two friends- spoilt, rich little Charlotte and everyone's sweetheart Tiana. I love how Walt Disney Studios introduces the two children from two very different walks of life who despite their backgrounds have such a strong bond of friendship and love.

While Charlotte grows up having everything she wants at her beck and call, Tiana is taught, as she grows, that she can achieve anything she wants if she puts in hard work and determination.

With that foundation laid, she grows up with a desire to pursue her dream to own her very own restaurant, as dreamt up by her late father. To reach that goal, she works several jobs yet continues each time with a joy in her step and whips up delicious platters of food and hearty gumbo bathed in love.

Now no Disney story can go on without a twist. Onto the scene comes 'everyone loves me' Prince Naveen who, unknown to many, has just been disowned by his wealthy royal parents.

An unfortunate encounter with the wicked Shadow man results in big changes for Naveen....Ribbit-Ribbit!

We honestly enjoyed the movie but for the ghastly Shadow man and his evil personality. Every Disney Princess movie has generally had a villainous twist but this time I feel Disney took it a bit too far. I made sure I distracted Bunny girl in conversation twice during the conversation when the Shadow man hoarded the screen.

The movie has its fair share of laughs that older kids will appreciate and sidekicks Louis the trumpet playing alligator and Ray the firefly bring out the smiles.

The music score has been well thought out and some songs especially stand out like Almost there, Down in New Orleans and Dig a little deeper.
