It began with Thanksgiving...quickly followed on the heels by Christmas and then the New Year....and now even though we don't have an excuse to gorge, we're still munching more than we should! Have you noticed how easy it is to satisfy a food craving for a delicious sugar coated doughnut but how much torture it is to exercise those additional pounds away? Ugh! Thanks to Eat Smart...we have a some hope!

Eat Smart has a line of products to help a person who enjoys good food, to keep an eye on not piling on those unwanted flab pockets! They have digital scales for use in your kitchen and bathroom!




We were sent Eat Smart's Digital Bathroom Scale to review.

The scale has
  • A large 3.5" LCD display with a backlight
  • 4 high precious sensors to accurately determine the person/object's weight
  • A sturdy tempered glass top with a 12 x 13" platform
  • Auto calibration
  • Auto Power Off and
  • The ability to sense and display a weight of upto 330 lbs/ 150kg
Being pregnant with Bunny Boo, I've been weighed each time I visit the Doctor and have an idea about how much I weigh. I re-verified my weight on the scale and it accurately tallies.


I've tried out and returned 3 separate similarly priced digital scales over a month's period last year and decided to stick to using a manual scale only because readings would vary even within 10 minute intervals. (Aaargh!) I'm glad Eat Smart's scale is accurate. The 3 of us have checked our weights, at different time intervals just to confirm the readings stay the same and thankfully they have! I'm now a little more confident to stick to using a digital scale.

We buy tons (and I mean tons!!) of fresh fruit and veggies. I add them to things like pasta sauce and baked bread and muffins. We try not to buy any boxed cookies or cake mixes and stuff like that. We also make sure to drink tons of water too. We limit our soda and juice intake.

We eat 95% organic foods.. also since we eat organically there is no worries about eating unhealthy. Even organic cookies, ice cream,etc are pure food sources, no artificial fillers, unhealthy preservatives, artificial colors etc. My kids do not crave sweets like they did before we started eating all organic. They choose fruit, raisins, or other dried fruit for snacks now. Which is awesome.

One of my ways to get some fruits and calcium in my family is to make a fruit smoothie. Some times I use frozen fruit, and then I skip using ice cubes! Son prefers what we call the "chunky monkey" smoothie, which is made of bananas, peanut butter, and ovaltine (milk added of course with this one! Yogurt is added with the others, along with Juicy Juice!

I always have a healthy side to each meal. Fruit with breakfast, breads with lunch, and vegetables with dinner. It's adding healthy things to each meal without seeming like a hassle.

I try and make sure that they don't have many sweets and three healthy meals a day. they are allowed to have healthy snacks-fruits, granola bars. they are not allowed to drink soda or sugary drinks. I do not own a scale and would love to have one.

I try to make my family healthier by going to the grocery store and getting healthy foods, instead of buying take-out every night of the week! I also try to put my mini-trampoline in the living room at night so we can take turns jumping!

We've stopped eating out as much (normally 4 days a week). And have started cooking at home using healthy recipes we each find on the internet every night. We've been trying new things each day and all the kids love it.

I make sure that we always eat a healthy breakfast every day and then we eat every 4 hours with one snack in mid-morning and one in the afternoon..the snack being yogurt or fruit.
I try to only shop the perimeters of the supermarket, therefore bypassing all the foods which are processed and/or have preservatives in them. By doing this, I've lost 9 lbs. since the second week of January. YAY!

We travel quite a bit in the car, and to keep the family eating healthy, we pack a cooler full of healthy drinks and snacks and put it in the back of the car, instead of stopping at a gas station or fast food restaurant when the kids get the munchies.

I have started to serve a salad with every dinner, BEFORE I put the actual dinner on the table. Not only does it help us eat smaller portions at dinner, but it gets everyone to eat some of our daily veggies.

I make sure not to stock the house with chips, candy, soda, or any other bad-habit snack, so we all have to turn to healthier options to feed our cravings. I also try to cook healthy dinners for the week over the weekend so we're not tempted to order in or go to a fast food joint. So far so good - we've all started the new year on a healthy note!
