CLOSED:Strider Bikes (R&G)

Remember when kids would shout out "Look Ma! No hands!!!"...well today thanks to the neat engineering design thought up by Ryan MacFarland, they now shout out "Look Ma.. no training wheels, no chains, no sprockets, no pedals....yet look at me go!!! Wheeeeee!!!" This Mommies and Daddies, with your jaws hanging low, is a bike but it's no ordinary bike...its a Strider!

As Ryan says, this is your running bike, balance bike, training bike and walking bike all rolled up into one. With a couple of falls and confidence boost ups, your child will soon learn to walk...walk a little faster....jog a bit....life his/her feet up....balance and then ride away on his/her Strider.

So then how does one stop? Easy...just put your feet down to the ground. After several rounds of trial and error, your little one will get programmed to immediately put his/her feet down onto the ground to stop his/her moving bike.

Don't believe me? Hear it straight from Ryan, the creator and designer of this fun new riding toy in the market.

Bunny girl was sent a red Strider and Hubby was initially unsure about how easy assembling the bike would be but thankfully he worked through it with ease. We spent a little time adjusting the seat's height to just the right level for Bunny girl to be able to sit comfortably, reach her handle bar effortlessly and at the same time be able to touch the ground with the soles of her feet.

Initially she was a little concerned as she noticed she didn't have pedals and training wheels but after a little egging on she was all enthusiastic to soar.....but then that's not how the Strider works and Bunny girl found that out in no time! She has had a few falls and is yet to reach the 'run, put your feet up and ride away' stage but she's slowly getting there. We're just encouraging her and at this point just making sure she feels confident enough to life her feet off the ground and glide.

This light weight bike with puncture proof tires is great to facilitate and sharpen coordination, motor skills, balance and strength in little kids and best of all, they get to have fun while all this happens!

Strider Sports International
has been successful in the market but they haven't let their fortune stay within the organization...they've chosen to bless on individuals not as fortunate, be it health wise or financially. Here are a few organizations they've supported.

So the next time you want to go out and get a riding toy with a difference for your 1-5 year old, remember to think Strider!

  1. I learned that the Strider is low maintenance. The tires are made out a material that doesn't puncture, so the tires won't need to be inflated.

  34. I learned that they don't have pedals so kids learn to ride before they have to know how to pedal. This is like learning to play an instrument before you can read music ... pretty cool.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I learned and I quote "Bike riding becomes a breeze when you teach your child balance and coordination before pedaling. The Strider™ takes pedaling out of the mix so that kids can concentrate solely on learning balance, which takes more practice. Pedaling is a secondary skill that kids can easily learn within a few short minutes.". This is a timely post becuase I have been debating taking the traing wheels of my girls bikes and just going for it because the training wheels are actually making things worse- ie giving a false confidence to girls who are actually tipped to one side. These bikes are a great alternative!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I wish I had heard about these before getting my 5 year old a bike! He is having trouble with balancing while also trying to learn how to use the pedals and I love that the Strider bike lets them focus on the balancing without worrying about the pedaling. That is what I learned. I would love to win this in orange because he needs to learn this and gain confidence to use his conventional bike.
