My 5 bedtime must-dos to get Bunny girl to bed on time!

Now I know most little kids get to bed real early but my Bunny girl...well...she's always been a night gal....loves to be up late and be around us. One reason for this is Hubby dearest has a long day and gets back from work only post 6.30 every evening , so for Bunny girl that's when her evening with Daddy begins! Nevertheless, ever since she has started preschool, we do our best to get our little bright eyed owl into bed as early as possible.

What are my little secrets? Just 1 really.....Develop a routine and stick to it...everything else will fall into place like clockwork.
We have a bedtime routine that flawlessly follows through night after night but that's only because we have 5 bedtime must dos!
  1. Bunny girl loves watching the Imagination Movers and Handy Manny on Disney. I tell her (Every night!!Its our very own family lullaby!) she has to get ready for bed else she'll miss watching her favorite telly shows!
  2. A warm glass of milk before bed always helps....ever since we started giving her a warm glass of milk just before bedtime we've noticed its a sort of 'wind me down soother' and soon she starts to yawn and feel quite groggy. (Yay...Milk Rocks!)
  3. Teeth brushing ritual with Daddy is another must just before bed. He insists he needs to supervise her scrubbing those pearly whites to avoid cavities. Both Daddy and Dottie spend their own special little time brushing away!
  4. Cuddly Amber (Remember Amber? )needs to be carried in from the toy room for 'night-night' time. Both Amber and Bunny girl need to get comfortable on the bed and then they're both ready for one more 'must' before drifting off into dreamland.
  5. Night prayers in bed....the last but important must! There has been an odd night or two when I've been so worn out that I just flop into the bed next to Bunny girl and close my eyes...she has made it a point to shake me awake and say "Mama we need to pray". Thank God for that! Once the 3 of us finish taking turns in praying, it's FINALLY lights out time!
Zzzzzzzzzzz.

I think the ritual is a nice thing. The warm milk always helps.

My son is a night-owl too! We have slowly been attempting work on getting him to bed earlier. It's rough! And amazing how once we start to get there, one night can put us right back where we started! I'll have to start a more concrete routine! Thanks for the help!
