Had ourselves a Merry Little Christmas '09

Christmas Eve morning was slotted with a visit to Bunny girls paed, thanks to a horrid throat infection she caught. (The previous day she woke up at 2am with a burning fever that decided to keep her company the whole day and into the following day.... of all times to fall ill!)

Poor baby was quite tired and very feverish but thankfully the antibiotics and lots of prayer got her back to her bouncy old self by evening...just in time for the Christmas Eve service ( a beautiful service especially as we sang all the carols to a mariachi beat and ended the service singing under candlelight) and a prayer followed by dinner at a friend's home.

We got back quite late and spent the rest of the night calling family back home to wish them. Bunny girl continued to insist that Christmas couldn't come till we went to sleep. So though we all crept into bed well past midnight Hubby and I weren't allowed to say "M.C." till daybreak!!

The presents waited patiently under the tree till its recipient woke up way past 9 that morning. Once up there was no stopping our little lady!

For the next 2 hours or so, we heard not a peep from an otherwise non stop chatterbox, she quietly played with her new prezzies while Hubby and I tried to finish whipping together our Christmas lunch.

It was a struggle to tear the busy little lady away from her new toy but it had to be done as she had been insistent the days prior that she wanted to bake Jesus' birthday cake and I didn't want any tears later because she changed her mind once I'd finish doing the whole thing by myself.

Baked Jesus a marble cake that was filled with cream in the middle and iced with melted milk chocolate and doused with generous shakes of colorful sprinkles. We even made a few cupcakes!

Once done, we dressed into our happy festive Christmas clothes and waited for our friends to come over and share the day with us.

Waiting is not one of Bunny girl's favorite things to do ......sigh! (From 12.30 to 1pm I was asked a gazillion times if it was 1 o' clock yet.....can you imagine my excitement when the family called and said they were running a little late and would be in only post 2pm....You can imagine how many times we were asked if it was 2pm!!!)

We stuffed ourselves till our seams burst. We had a desi (Indian) meal from start to finish...complete with spiced vegetable rice, Hubby's signature beef curry, butter chicken, spicy fried chicken, grilled chicken, papads, spiced yogurt and pickles......mmmmmm, mmmmmm.....mmmmm!!!!

We forced ourselves to have some dessert only because we needed to sing Happy Birthday to Jesus to make Jesus' Birthday really complete for Bunny girl.

It was a beautiful day...nothing extravagant...nothing over the top. It was simple, love filled and a Christmas I know we will look back upon with a smile on our faces and say....

We did have ourselves a Merry Little Christmas.....

Happy Birthday Jesus, once again!
