It's cold...brrrr....bring on the Ginger Chai!!

It's becoming a little nippy here and I'm not really one of those "I love winter" kinda gals. I'd rather be indoors with socks and a sweater on, covered with a nice thick blanket. As soon as the weather gets a little nippy, I just have to have my favorite 'warmer' of all....Ginger Chai.('Chai' is what we call tea in India)

We Desi folk are all for Chai....when the weather's chilly outside or you have some welcome thunder showers, grab a vessel to brew 3 teacups of delish Ginger Chai....

1. Add 2 cups of water and 2 teaspoons full of loose tea leaves (not tea bags. We love strong tea at home so we generally use Red Label or at times Lipton)
2. Add 3-4 digit size chunks of ginger
3. Brew the mixture till you see the color of the water changing to a deep brown
4. Add milk to your tea mixture based on how strong you want your yummy Ginger Chai

Now instead of adding sugar to your tea to sweeten it, add condensed milk....makes your Chai extra yummy and so soothing to enjoy indoors while the world outside shivers with the cold! ;)

As an alternative, you can replace the ginger chunks with 3-4 cardamom pods crushed- this makes great Cardamom tea.

Sounds like a great tea. I used to drink condensed milk straight from the can. I can imagine how yummy this tea would taste.
