It's the Sportsman Xtreme 300 Lumens Area Lantern.


The Sportsman Xtreme Lantern is a 300 lumen, 4 watt, water resistant, compact lantern that actually stands a tad bit shorter than a half liter bottle.


The lantern head has a plastic tent hanger feature which comes in handy when you need to hang up the product when outdoors.

The lantern runs on three 'D' batteries and yes I do prefer using the Rayovac brand of batteries for two reasons- price and a longer life!

Note: The batteries are placed under the base but make sure you align the same well if you find that the base isn't clicking into position.

The Sportsman Xtreme Lantern functions in one of three modes....


It is said to run on the high mode for about 72 hours


and the low mode for 150 hours.


If you press the 'on' button for about 3 seconds, the lantern switches to the 'strobe light' mode.


Another helpful 'outdoors feature' is the tiny green LED light that flashes right above the power button when the lantern is switched off.
(This helps one find the lantern in the dark especially when camping out in the night.)

All in all I think Rayovac has done a great job in bringing into the market a practical, affordable and durable 'illuminating' outdoor companion that is anything but bulky.
Yes, this lantern is, without a doubt, a big improvement to those cumbersome lanterns your Grandpappy owned!
