CLOSED: I'm dreaming of a Scholastic Top Picks Book Package (Christmas Carnival Giveaway #42)

This post is a 'Christmas Carnival' feature...The Carnival of Giveaways (or should I say Christmas prezzies?) on Energizer Bunny's Mommy Reports from November 1- mid December 2010.
For a list of all the live giveaways visit 'The Christmas Carnival Center'

If your little Bunny is like my little Bunny, then this super-dee-duper Scholastic Top Picks Book Package will be a little reader's treat!
Scholastic has generously set aside 7 titles from their Top Picks of the Season list for one of you this Christmas.
The pack includes three Thanksgiving themed books (I know. I wish I'd received these earlier too but to look on the positive side, atleast you have books for next Thanksgiving!) and four Christmas themed books and to feed your curiosity, here's a peek into each book....

In Clifford's Thanksgiving Visit Emily Elizabeth goes to spend Thanksgiving with her Grandma. While she's away, Clifford is left with her neighbors but soon feels lonely and decides to bound over to city and spend Thanksgiving with his mother. A football game, a Thanksgiving Parade, traffic and many buildings later, he finally reaches his mother's home.
Both Emily and Clifford have a wonderful Thanksgiving but find themselves thinking about each other and can't wait to get home to be reunited again.

10 Fat Turkeys is a fun short story about 10 Turkeys, in rhyme. Similar to a "5 little Monkeys jumping on the bed" cycle, something happens to each turkey and with a "Gobble Gobble Wibble Wobble" the reader ends up with 1 Turkey short.
This is a great counting book for preschoolers.

Samuel Eaton's Day takes the young reader into the day in the life of a young Pilgrim boy, in Colonial America. This is a beautiful book that teaches a child the work that goes into bringing in the first harvest. The photographs help bring the story alive and add richness to the narration. This is definitely one of those books every school library should carry and feature in book reading sessions during the Thanksgiving season.

In I Love Christmas, Noodles feels a little neglected when he realizes everyone is busy with Christmas odds and ends. It only takes him a little while to understand that he can be part of the festive spirit and before you know it Noodles is truly loving every bit of Christmas.
This Level 1 Early Reader is a short bit sweet read for the young reader.

Bunny girl loves 'I Spy' books and I've realized her eye is quick to find hidden objects thanks to the number of books she has gone through. If you haven't tried out 'I Spy' books with your little one(s), I highly recommend you do because they're a great way to sharpen and challenge a child's mind. Perhaps you can start with I Spy A Christmas Tree. This is a more elementary version of 'I Spy' and is a fun way to entertain little ones especially on long road trips or even when now bound indoors.
The book includes 'punch out' ornaments for your tree.

The Biggest Christmas Tree Ever

Join Clayton, the town mouse and Desmond, the country mouse as they head off to find the Biggest Christmas Tree Ever. It takes a while but they finally find the right tree but what would they both do when they realize they've both picked the same tree?....You must read the book to find out!
If your little one loves stickers then he/she will be thrilled to find a sheet of Candy Cane foil stickers included with the book.

And finally, my favorite book of all, The Littlest Christmas Star .

This book tells the story of a little boy named Max who is given the role of being the Star of Bethlehem in the class Christmas play.
Feeling sidelined and not very important, Max tries to add his two bits into roles and responsibilities given to his friends. It's only on the day of the actual performance that he realizes that even though he did have the smallest part, his was the most important role of all.

What a fabulous package and it will be on one of your doorsteps, hopefully well before Christmas!
