If your little one loves grabbing hold of your expensive camera to take photographs and you do want to encourage his love for photography but not at the risk of allowing your camera kiss the ground, consider getting him LeapFrog's Digital Camera manufactured by 30 year old consumer's electronic manufacturer Sakar.


This compact, easy to hold camera is perfect to start an amateur photographer off on his/her 'snapping' 'ventures! Your young photographer will also be tickled to hear the camera exclaim "Great Shot!" and "Say Cheese" whenever it's clicked.

The camera uses 3 AAA batteries and comes with an inbuilt flash which I would advise be used only in poor lighting scenarios else the pictures you take will look like they're over-exposed. We personally think this camera works the best with good lighting scenarios, minus the use of the flash.


You will also need to teach your child to wait between each photograph, if using the flash mode, as it does take a little while before the flash triggers and the picture is taken. (I guess this will be a good place to start teaching them the importance of being patient!)

The camera has a 1.5" display screen, a resolution of 2.1 megapixels and you can take about 100 photographs thanks to the built in memory storage in the camera.
(But make sure you download the pictures on your camera before the batteries die on you because a dead battery also means that all your pictures will get automatically erased from the camera.....very disappointing for a little one!)


Bunny girl takes some great photographs with our 'grown up' camera so we really hope this will be a great way to encourage her love for photography, even though she's only four and a half years old.
The camera does capture some nice outdoor stationary shots but most of the pictures with a moving target come out blurred.

The LeapFrog Digital Camera also comes with a photo editing software which is fun to use to play around with the photographs taken, incorporate into games, puzzles and other fun stuff.
