It's a scary world out there if you honestly sit back and think about the way corporate giants publicize products and create shows to target young girls but not necessarily build up their self worth or inner beauty. The focus ever so often is on physical beauty and nothing else....but thank God for Christian Life-changers like Big Idea who develop family entertainment that builds up, strengthens and empowers our young ones to face the world they live in, with God-fidence!

One would think our little ones are safe from 'physical beauty' benchmarks but guess what? They aren't. The DVD opens with the heart warming story of 'Snoodlerella', the awkward looking girl with crazy hair, huge black rimmed glasses, buck teeth and freckles. Her prim, proper and la-dee-dah step-mommy and sisters arrange to get her 'physically made over' just in time for the royal ball. The make over is a success and Snoodlerella looks stunning but once the clock strikes midnight she's left standing in the massive ballroom looking like her old self, feeling mournful and unwanted....till the King steps in.


The King tells her how she looks to him....beautiful from the inside, unique and special.... a beautiful revelation that builds up her radiant spirit.

The way Snoodlerella unravels ministered to my heart in a special way. The dance with the King and the conversation shared is soul stirring and though your preschooler may not absorb the entire essence of all that is conveyed, I can assure you that it will bless you in an unforgettable way.

In the next episode 'Sweetpea Beauty', Sweetpea knows that inner beauty is what matters the most but sadly jealous Queen Blueberry thinks otherwise, thanks to the conniving mirror's influencing voice in her decisions.


The Queen gets 'rid' of Sweetpea as soon as she finds out that the royal decree states that the kingdom can only be ruled by the most beautiful in the land.


Has Sweetpea disappeared for good?

It so happened that we first played the CD on the way to preschool, a day after Bunny girl had her hair cut a tad bit shorter than she would have liked and was not really sure whether she 'looked nice' or not. Despite our assurances, she was still not convinced. We listened to 'More Beautiful' on our way to school today and I know the song really blessed her heart. She skipped with a smile on her face to class. Later when I picked her up she told me everyone thought she looked great. We reminded her that it was because Jesus had made her so beautiful on the inside and out and that naturally, she couldn't look anything but the best!

This CD is so God inspired. Yes you do have the wacky songs thrown in for good measure like 'Lost Puppies' and 'Where Have All The Staplers Gone' but as an overall package, this will minister to both young and old...especially this beautiful song sung by Nichole Nordeman.

Now the Sweetpea Beauty 365 Bedtime Devos for Girls book hasn't been given to Bunny girl yet as we're saving it for Christmas. Each Christmas we give her a new devotional for the year ahead and this one is perfect!


The book comes complete with a Scripture to think about, a little 'think about passage' and a bedtime prayer for each day. Also included are 'Big Ideas' about topics like going to church, Jesus, kindness and more. This is a well rounded devotional dealing with topics like the importance of pleasing God than friends, sharing, obeying one's parents, getting to know God and everybody makes mistakes.

I'm itching to start reading this with Bunny girl but I know I need to be patient. (Sigh!)

I can go on and on about these awesome resources but I need to hold myself back on this else this post may just turn out to be a book!
