CLOSED: Funny Bone Readers...Character Builders for Kids (+Giveaway)

50 years of experience in writing books for children is nothing to look casually upon.
The Red Chair Press has made writing for children a passion and with their Funny Bone Readers they not only entertain our children through their books but also help build their 'character' inner-man.

We had the opportunity of looking through both their Parent Packs, i.e. a set of 6 books, (featuring 1 title from each of the 6 traits). The six traits highlighted are Fairness, Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Citizenship.


From Pack 1, Bunny girl loved Nate's story in 'The Best Birthday Gift'. The story is simply written to convey to the young reader that tangible presents are not always the most treasured and that it is so, so important to LISTEN! (If you have a preschooler at home you will know how sometimes the gift of selective hearing automatically switches on.)

'Squid and Pickles' is another nice book that highlights the importance of not bulldozing over one's friends.


Pack 2's 'Silly Tilly and the Royal Rules' is another winner. (Or so Mama says!!) Silly Tilly thinks the Palace Rules are not important and finds out soon enough what consequences 'hop' out, when she decides that 'rules are silly'

All the books are 16 pages long and each has been written in a language that any young child can understand. Each book ends with a story related question for your child to answer and includes the meaning of three-four 'big words' that were included in the story.

I know the site says that the appropriate age group for these Readers is 5-8 but I would say this would be best suited for the 4-7 age range. Bunny girl enjoyed listening to us read the books to her and has already gone through both packs twice.

This is a nice collection to give your child's preschool or kindergarten teacher to share with the other children in the class, especially as each book is a combination of reading, learning and character building.
