CLOSED: Dive Olly Dive & Word World (+ Dual Dvd Giveaway)

* Click here to view the name(s) of the winner(s)*

With the heat being unbearable this summer, it's sometimes best to just have the little ones indoors but at times they can get restless and you don't always have something worthwhile on the cable that you'd approve of. NCircle Entertainment has some great dvds for kids in the preschool age range that are not only affordable but also educative and entertaining.

Two preschool suggested 'fun to watch' series are Dive Olly Dive and a Bunny girl favorite, Word World.

Last week, we had the opportunity to review Dive Olly Dive: Under Pressure and Word World: Pirate Sheep.

Dive Olly Dive is a new series for us but Bunny girl seemed to enjoy watching Olly the little yellow submarine and his buddies explore the underwater territories together.

Dive Olly Dive: Under Pressure is an hour long dvd that features 5 'Olly' adventures:
  • Sub magnet
  • Pressure's On
  • Grandpa Claude (This 100 year old lobster had Bunny girl amused!)
  • Doug's Apprentices and
  • A Jelly Old Time.
The underwater friends teach the young viewer the importance of being there for one's friends and in helping out when the need arises. Without a doubt, teamwork is the clear message that's conveyed in each episode.

Buy it:

You can buy Dive Olly Dive: Under Pressure for 11.99 US$.

I love Word World. I think the creators do such a great job in trying to engage the 'soon to read' young viewer and get him/her interested in trying to put letters together to create a word.

Word World: Pirate Sheep features 4 episodes where 'words come alive'. This hour long dvd includes
  • A pirate themed adventure with Sheep,Duck and Shark in 'Pirate Ship'
  • A 'Super hero Sheep'
  • A mail delivery muddle with Duck trying to 'help' Kangaroo out in 'Mail Mix Up' and
  • A 'HUGE' baby guest in Sheep's home in 'Wee Little Whale'
The dvd also has 4 bonus features thrown in with 4 'Build A Word' songs, the 'Take the Stage' music video and behind the scenes with 'Wee Little Whale'

The series do encourage a young child to identify letters, verbalize letter sounds and attempt to form words. A department of Education funded study has even proven that Word World does improve a child's literacy skills.
