Warner Brothers has re-released 2 animated oldie-goldies this Spring - Bugs Bunny's Easter Funnies and The First Easter Rabbit. Both these classics first came out in the late 1970s and now they're back again to entertain.
Two of my readers will have the opportunity to win a pack containing both these dvds.
In Bugs Bunny's Easter Funnies, Granny gets the dreaded call that the Easter Bunny is ill and hurries to find a substitute Easter Bunny. Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes gang jump up to volunteer. Lo and behold, what unravels is a lot of 'looney madness' ! Who will fit the role the best?
The dvd also includes 3 interactive Looney Tunes puzzles and an additional bonus feature episode- 'His Hare-Raising Tale'.
Viewing duration: Approximately 50 minutes
Buy it:
You can buy Bugs Bunny's Easter Funnies for a reduced price of 7.96 US$ (+ shipping) from the Warner Brothers online store.
The First Easter Rabbit is about a little girl's toy bunny called Stuffy who comes to life and hops his way down to Easter Valley to deliver baskets full of goodies to the kids there. Poor Stuffy, though, is in for some opposition when Zero, a mean ice character threatens to spoil the fun and bring the chills to all Stuffy's plans. Watch as Stuffy gets help from some unexpected sources!
The dvd also includes 6 menu based puzzles for kids.
Viewing duration: Approximately 30 minutes.
Buy it:
You can buy The First Easter Rabbit for a reduced price of 7.96 US$ (+ shipping) from the Warner Brothers online store.
Between the two dvds we'd vote Bugs Bunny's Easter Funnies over The First Easter Rabbit only because there's just something about Bugsy that never fails to entertain and set us off!!
Both dvds reminded me of the cartoons we'd watch as kids....boy, animation sure has come such a long way today!

ReplyDeleteWhat is the birth place for the rascally rabbit, Bugs Bunny?
ReplyDeleteBrooklyn, New York. Bugs was a known traveler, always taking the wrong turn, he has been in Albuquerque, the Himalayas and the Antarctica.
In what year was Bugs Bunny born?
ReplyDelete1940. Tex Avery was the man who put the final touch to the Bugs Bunny we know today.
What is the name of the man who gave his voice to Bugs?
ReplyDeleteMel Blanc. Bugs Bunny had many voices, but Mel Blanc was more remembered, lasting from 1940 to 1983.
Bugs was one of the few animated celebrites who received a star on the Walk of Fame.
ReplyDeleteHas Tweety always been yellow?
ReplyDeleteNo. Originally Tweety was pink. Tweety didn't become yellow until later on.
Tweety's owner is called Granny in the cartoons, but what is Granny's real name?
ReplyDeleteEmma Webster. We know her as "Granny", Yosemite Sam and Bugs called her "Emma" in one cartoon, and she was called "Ms. Webster" by a policeman in another cartoon, thus we have "Emma Webster".
I love these fun facts!
ReplyDeleteThe first Academy Award Tweety won was for which cartoon?
Tweety Pie. This is the cartoon where Tweety meets Sylvester for the first time.
Up until 1979 Marvin did not even have an official name, known only as Commander X-2.

1) Does Wile ever Catch the Road Runner?
ReplyDeleteWell, in a 1980 made for TV short - "Soup or Sonic", directed by Chuck Jones, Wile E. does catch him.
However, he is only a couple of inches high, while Road Runner is full size, thanks to a gag involving a chase through a pipeline that gets narrower and narrower. After a minature Wile catches the full size Road Runner, he holds up a sign that says - "Okay, wise guys, you always wanted me to catch him. Now what do I do?" - the cartoon then ends.

What was the company name that Wile ordered products from?
ReplyDeleteI knew this one without looking.
The name of the company was "ACME".
Rebecca
Buttons and Bows
mommiesgotfivechildren at hotmail dot com
Where did they ever come with that company name?
ReplyDeleteWhen Chuck Jones (the creator/director) was a kid he pretended that everything came from a fictional company called the ACME Corporation. So, for the cartoons he adored the idea that there was a company called ACME that made things specifically for coyotes.

What was the name of the first Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote cartoon?

Porky's original voice was Joe Dougherty, a real stutterer. A bit-part actor for WB in the 1930's, he was the voice of Porky from his 1935 debut until 1937.
ReplyDeleteWere any of the Road Runner cartoons ever nominated for an Academy Award?
ReplyDeleteSure, the 1960 Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote cartoon called "Beep Prepared" was nominated for an Academy Award. However, it unfortunately did not win the prestigious award.
Rebecca
Buttons and Bows
mommiesgotfivechildren at hotmail dot com
7). Who created the Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote characters?
ReplyDeleteChuck Jones, who directed most of Road Runner cartoons, and writer Micheal Maltese created the pair. They were looking to create a parody of the classic chase films of that time - 1949. Their parody soon became bigger than they ever thought it would!
Rebecca
Buttons and Bows
mommiesgotfivechildren at hotmail dot com
14). Who did those great background paintings for the Road Runner cartoons?
ReplyDeleteThose great desert backgrounds were first designed by Robert Gribbroek and painted by Peter Alvarado. But, after a few years they were designed by Maurice Noble and painted by Philip De Gaurd who began to make the scenes more abstract.
Rebecca

20). Did Wile ever appear in a cartoon without the Road Runner?

But, when he appeared with 'Sam the Sheepdog' he was known as 'Ralph Wolf' even though this is STILL Wile E. Coyote.

In April of 1930, the first Looney Tunes cartoon was released. It was an eight minute musical adventure called Sinkin' in the Bathtub, starring two new characters named Bosko and Honey
ReplyDeleteThe name Looney Tunes is a variation on Silly Symphonies, the name of Walt Disney's concurrent series of music-based cartoon shorts
ReplyDeleteElmer's signature catchphrase is, "Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting wabbits", as well as his trademark laughter, "huh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh".
ReplyDeleteIn one cartoon, Elmer Fudd declares himself vegetarian, hunting for sport only
ReplyDeleteIn the 1941–1942 season, Elmer's appearance was modified. he became a heavy-set, beer-bellied character.
ReplyDeleteIn the 1988 movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Elmer Fudd makes a cameo in a brief head-shot during the final scene.
ReplyDeletebugs bunny was created in 1940
ReplyDeleteElmer appears as part of the TuneSquad team in Space Jam.
ReplyDeletesylvester was created in 1945
ReplyDeleteSylvester has won the most oscars - 3!
ReplyDeleteporky pig was created in 1935
ReplyDeleteDaffy first appeared on April 17, 1937, in Porky's Duck Hunt, directed by Tex Avery and animated by Bob Clampett.
ReplyDeleteDaffy's catchphrase is "you're dethhhhhhPICable."
ReplyDeleteporky is known for his line "b-b-b-b-big deal"
ReplyDeletedaffy duck was created in 1937
ReplyDeletedaffy duck was often paired in episodes with porky pig
ReplyDeleteTowards the end of the career he became angry and greed and that's when he started to be bugs rival (which is how i know him)
ReplyDeleteone of the lines daffy is known for is "I'd Like... I'd like a trip to Europe... I'd Like.."
ReplyDeletefoghorn legorn is a rooster on the show

ReplyDeleteyosemite sam is bugs MAIN enemy from his first apperance
ReplyDeleteyosemite came about in 1945
ReplyDeleteyosemite sam has been protrayed as a western outlaw, pirate, black knight, and many other roles!
ReplyDeleteyosemite sam is known for saying "I'm no clock-watcher!"
ReplyDeletetweety was always chased by sylvester
ReplyDeletetweety had to dodge sylvester for over 50 years!!
ReplyDeletetweety/sylvester as a team won oscars in 1947 and 1957
ReplyDeleteTweety was famous for saying "What's a matter? Puddy tat got your tounge?"
ReplyDeletetweety also commonly said " I tawt I taw lotsa puddy tats!"
ReplyDeleteanother fun famous line of tweety is "The poor puddy tat! He fall down, go BOOM!"
ReplyDeletethe goofy gophers were created in 1947
ReplyDeletegoofy gopher's names were mac 'n' tosh
ReplyDeleteGoofy gophers were known for saying "I think he means to do us bodily harm!"
ReplyDeleteinfo gathered: http://www.angelfire.com/mi/villeville/
oh, yosemite sam always also said "So Long Sucker!"
ReplyDeleteI loved watching the Looney Tunes cartoons with my brothers when we were little. I loved Bugs Bunny the best and really believed my mom that eating carrots like Bugs did was good for my eyes. Don't let kiddies read this - no truth to that as I got my 1st pair of glasses in first grade. :-(
ReplyDeleteThe cute yellow bird, Tweety was another favorite with his big head and big blue eyes. I was always afraid for him when he would say, "I tawt I taw a puddy tat. I did! I did", but was so happy when he always outsmarted Sylvester.
ReplyDeleteI was happy whenever Sylvester, the black and white cat, failed in his missions to eat Tweety. Loved hearing him say "Sufferin' succotash!".
ReplyDeleteLooney Tunes were great to watch but there was also a lot of violence in some of them. Wile E. Coyote was always ordering equipment from the ACME Co. to blow up his prey but he was the one that ended up being blown up or flattened in the end.

Everyone loves Tweety! That includes my mom who is in her 50s and has a Tweety stuffie collection!
ReplyDeleteRoad Runner was fun to watch as he raced down those desert roads going "beep beep" and escaping from Wile E. Coyote - he really wasn't very wiley was he? I always felt sorry for the coyote. :-(
ReplyDeleteTaz has but one thing on his mind: Eating. The carnivorous native of Tasmania has the power to devour everything and anything in a single gulp.
ReplyDeleteTaz has a weakness for a pretty female Devil. Whether the female is really Bugs Bunny in disguise or a real lady Devil. Taz can be temporary diverted by his attraction to the feminine.
ReplyDeleteDaffy Duck wasn't one of my favorites but my oldest brother did a great impression of him saying, "You're dethpicable!". Daffy had a lisp and supposedly I had one too according to my 1st grade teacher. I thought I was pronouncing my "s" sounds just fine. 2nd grade there was no mention of a lisp but I still had to wear eyeglasses that those carrots didn't ward off! :-)
ReplyDeleteBugs Bunny once made a quick escape from Taz by pretending he wasn't a rabbit, but a monkey.
ReplyDeleteAt least I didn't have trouble with my "r" sound like Elmer Fudd did everytime he went hunting "wabbits". So glad he never got my favorite character, Bugs Bunny. :-)
ReplyDeleteLooney Tunes: Back In Action marks the first time Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and the entire Looney Tunes menagerie star in a feature film set entirely in a live action world and interact with "live" 3-D costars throughout the picture.

Claude Cat, like so many of the Warner Cartoon "minor" characters, has become larglely forgotten. For some reason, Claude was just never made into a "star" character like Bugs Bunny, or Wile E Coyote., or Tweety , or the more familair feline, Sylvester
ReplyDeleteMy boys love Bugs Bunny and they have never even seen an episode.
ReplyDeletedenise_22315 at yahoo dot com
I also used to wish I was the Road Runner and my older brother was the Coyote. He always beat me at everything.
ReplyDeletedenise_22315 at yahoo dot com
By 1961, Bugs Bunny was a national icon, he had his own prime-time television series, "The Bugs Bunny Show.
ReplyDeleteA loud, Southern rooster, Foghorn Leghorn was based on a radio character called Senator Claghorn from Bighorn
ReplyDeleteI'm just now realizing my love of the French language may go back as far as my early childhood when I first watched Looney Tunes' Pepe le Pew with his French accent. I loved that skunk! Too bad he looked for love from a black cat (Penelope Pussycat) that had a white stripe on her back from an accident with paint. I loved Pepe le Pew so much that years ago, I gave his name to my cat that was the negative image of him (that is, my cat was white with black stripe down his back). My Pepe le Pew was the BEST cat I've ever had.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the cartoon Raw! Raw! Rooster!, Foghorn and his chum Rhode Island Red went to Chicken Tech
ReplyDeleteFoghorn's favorite song to sing is De Camptown Races
ReplyDeleteOnly one Foghorn Leghorn cartoon was nominated for an academy awards. Walky Talky Hawky (1946), it lost to the Tom and Jerry cartoon The Cat Concerto.
ReplyDeleteFoghorn's final cartoon was in 1963and was called Banty Raids. He did make some cameo appearances after that
ReplyDeleteEgghead Jr.is the silent son of Miss Prissy and the brainiest chicken in the yard. Foghorn often finds himself trying to teach him the bespeckled lad something only to have Egghead Jr. devise an incredible solution
ReplyDeleteBarnyard Dawg is the guard dog for the barnyard who usually spends a good portion of the cartoon at either the giving or receiving end of a practical joke involving Foghorn.
ReplyDeleteWhen I watched Looney Tunes cartoons I always hated when they ended and we'd see Porky Pig breaking through the drum and stuttering, "Th-Th-Th-That's all folks!"
ReplyDeletetweet http://twitter.com/SnowflakeDay/status/11273859276
ReplyDeleteI also love the Bugs cartoon where he's driving the opera singer nuts. The opera guy is trying to practice and Bugs keeps singing the country tunes and making him start singing them. Love it. There's also a really long one I remember with Bugs and Elmer doing an opera together.
