'Mama's Right Here' is a short but sweet little book that will warm the heart of every Mama and her little one. Liza Baker brings across a Mama's assurances to a little child beautifully.Just take a look at the cover- you can see the love in the little fox's eyes as she looks up at her Mama and there's kindness and patience woven into Mama fox's face as she looks at her precious child. Each page is filled with love filled illustrations by David McPhail.
I would suggest this book be read during your special one on one time with your little Sonny boy or Dottie. Bunny girl and I shared lots of hugs through the 24 pages...mmmmm !

Me and my mother had quite a rocky experience after I started school but early years were great I can remember her being with me at the drs, headstart volunteer and just being around to a child who felt insecure most of the time this was always great

My Mother was often "Room Mother" at my school. She would bake cupcakes for our Christmas party and make popcorn balls for the Halloween party. I was proud to see my all my classmates enjoying my Mother's treats and playing the games she had us play.

I remember racing along with my mom to the bus stop every day in the summer and meeting her after work to walk home with her again. (It really taught me to walk at a fast pace.)

My mom and I used to go walking in the evening. While walking, we said the rosary. That is how I first learned to say the rosary. The hardest part was keeping up with my mom who had such long legs.

My mom had to pick my dad up from work every night at 11:30 so she would lay down for a nap after dinner. I remember snuggling with her after dinner, it is a very cozy memory.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was little, my Mom loved to have music playing and she taught me the words to many old songs. Sometimes she picked classical music. I would dance around the living room pretending to be a ballerina and Mom was the conductor. We laughed & hugged. These were such special moments shared by the two of us. I know my love of music is from my Mom.

My mama once dyed my hair green for St. Patrick's Day with food coloring thinking that it would wash out. It didn't and I was the only kid in kindergarten with green hair. lol

My favorite Mama memory is how she would take care of me when I was sick, when she would bring chicken noodle soup & ginger ale up to my room. It was the only time we could eat in bed :)

ReplyDeleteMy mom and I weren't close growing up but my sister and I were once I got into my teen years--I remember staying up late and watching "The Outsiders" one night and my mom yelling at us to be quiet so she could sleep. My sister said my mom could hear spiders stomping across the ceiling, which sent us into a hysterical giggling fit and got us into more trouble!

My mom used to stand on the swing, and I'd sit on it (they were long, flat, hard plastic when I was a child) and she'd swing me that way, and I thought that was so incredibly fun.

My favorite mom moment was making "sandwiches" with her and my brothers and sisters. We would decide who was the bread (mom was always one of the pieces of bread) and then we'd decide what fillings we'd be--ham, cheese, PB&J etc. I loved that. It was a creative way to cuddle.

I remember sitting at my mothers feet as she sewed clothes for my "Wetsy Betsy" Doll. I couldn't wait. All she had was some scrap material, I don't even know if she had a pattern. It seemed to take forever! She made me 2 dresses with bloomers and and a pink courdaroy robe with a small pocket. I loved them! At Valentines day I would cut a small heart and put it in the pocket of the robe so my doll would have a Valentine. I still have those doll clothes and am almost 57 years old. Every time I pull them out I remember that moment and my mother's love.

I have so many special memories that it's hard to choose just one, I guess my favorite memories are just when I would snuggle with her while she read to me...my favorite time of the day..and the fact that even though she had 6 kids, she would read us each our own story so we could have some special one on one time, that made it more special!

My favorite "Mama" memory is when me and my younger sister thought there was a ghost in our room. We screamed for mom and she was right there, we told her about the ghost. She said she had a special spray to get rid of ghosts because they hate the smell and won't be in a house with it. She went to her bedroom, then came back to ours with a beautiful bottle and sprayed out a beautiful smelling scent. Later on as adults we learned it was just perfume with an atomizer on it, in a beautiful bottle, but we believed her because she was so convincing. We slept perfect knowning the ghost wasn't going to get us that night, and sometimes on other nights we'd have her spray the ghost spray again. It always worked.

One of my favorite memories is when I was a little girl my mom would always do my hair. She was a hair stylist before she has us kids and so anytime I would sit still she would do my hair.
