CLOSED:Inspiring Hope-Pink Together Giveaway

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One month set apart to honor those women who have fought this cancer, continue to fight this cancer and those who survive to tell of God's miraculous healing in being cancer free after a diagnosis months or even years later.

My grandmother had breast cancer. At the time I was a little girl and didn't really understand what it meant. I just knew my mother was hurt and my grandmother was in a lot of pain. In the 80s in India, you didn't really have big awareness drives or Women Support Groups as you have today. The only support you had was your family, close friends and the church family... but that was enough.

To know that you have somebody supporting and encouraging you along the way....someone to say that they love you and believe that you could get through this....someone to sincerely go on their knees and pray for your healing....is all that a woman fighting this cancer needs.

Pink Together acknowledges this need and has set up an online community to support women who have survived this ordeal, women who continue to fight this battle and others who have been impacted by breast cancer in some way or the other.

What can you do to help?

Lots! You know how an encouraging word has lifted your spirits on a hard day and how an e-card out of the blue has brought a smile to your face, on that day you were down in the dumps. Well, now you can make someone else's heart smile....
  • Post a comment of encouragement to one or more of the women who've shared their story on Pink Together
  • Send a virtual flower bouquet (free of charge) to one of the survivors
If you are a breast cancer survivor and would like to share your story to encourage other women who visit the site, please click on the 'Share Your Story' tab. Remember no story is too small to encourage anybody. Somebody will be blessed.

To support this campaign, General Mills has offered to donate 1$ (upto a total of 20,000$) for each comment posted, each virtual bouquet sent and each story shared.(Till October 31,2009) In addition to this, they are also donating 2 million$ to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I think that's a moving gesture on their part.

As a part of this campaign, My Blog Spark and Pink Together sent me an 'Inspiring Hope' gift pack that includes a sleeved travel mug, a running ribbon charm bracelet, a pink leather strap keychain, a pink cinch bag and a set of inspirational note cards.

They have also generously offered to gift one of my readers with an identical pack.
(To ensure we build as many comments to help the cause and send as many bouquets as we can, this contest will end on October 31, 11.59pm)

All the contents in this bag come from ShopKomen.com, where 25% of the purchase price on each item sold helps in Susan G Komen's cause, the Cure, in the fight for Breast Cancer.

Here's how you can win it:

1. Mandatory entry (without this, all other entries will be disqualified)-

Tell me what inspired you the most on the Pink Together community.

Additional entries:

-For each comment you post (please mention whose story you posted under)

-For each virtual bouquet you send (please mention whom you sent this to)

-For a story shared

Lets help General Mills donate that additional 20,000$ in whole.

This giveaway is open to US residents, 18 years and above.

1 winner will be chosen with the random.org generator on October 31, 2009 at 11
59 pm Central time
, so enter before that. The winner's name will be posted thereafter. Please note if any winner does not get back to me 48 hours after his/her name has been posted, I will pick a new winner.

  3. I really loved the music (that surprised me when I entered the site) and the music section. I find music very inspiring. My mother in-law just reached a 10-yr milestone. In my own family, cervical cancer runs rapid. And my own daughter has a brain tumor (thus the long story of only having one eye now), so we're pretty involved in the whole cure cancer movement. Thanks for the opportunity to win this wonderful gift!

  38. What inspires me is all the women supporting each other on the site. Just the other day, Dr.Phil had stay at home moms versus career moms on his show. Listening to those women battle against each other instead of building each other up was disheartening. This site brings women together!
