All over India today (September 5th) teachers are honored for the work they put in to shape the lives of both young and old. In schools all over the country, older students take over the role of teaching for the day, making the day a fun filled one but in every way appreciative of the work a teacher does. I've had many wonderful teachers over the years...here's a shout out to all of them and to all my 'Teacher' readers too...Happy Teachers Day!! You are appreciated!
In celebration of Teachers Day, the reviews and giveaways today will be book-based.
Ever heard of a 'moving picture book' ? Neither did I, till I stumbled upon 'Moving Picture Books'
A 'Moving Picture Book' was designed to educate and inspire reading in children, in today's digital age. The goal is simple-' to magically bring books to life' via a digital medium and this has been nailed to a tee with bright and colorful animation for each story, clear narration, fun sound effects (that crack up a little child) and appropriate music to each scene.
I strongly believe that a physical book is irreplaceable but after Bunny girl and I reviewed 'The Bible and Holiday Stories' Collection from Moving Picture Books I realized a moving picture book did have it's own little charm. I definitely agree it's a great way to give a child a gentle nudge into the world of reading and if you choose the 'read along' option, a child learning to read alone will enjoy attempting to read along with the narrator (who, I must add, does read at a pace a new reader can follow)

Bunny girl enjoyed the DVD and since each story is short, we watched the 'Bible Stories' story and the 'Noah's Ark' story twice. Thanks to the DVD, she now adds more details to her story of Noah and Jonah (She's our official storyteller!) Even though she has been read both stories several times and in different versions, I guess there was just something that only a 'moving picture' could tap!
Each DVD allows you the option to hear the story in English or in Spanish but the read along text option is only available in English.
