CLOSED: Zhu Zhu pets review and giveaway (BTSC-Day 23)

Bunny girl has wanted a pet since forever...literally! She first asked for a puppy and earlier this year she decided perhaps a puppy may be too big, so she asked for a tiny bunny rabbit. Hubby loves animals and would have supported her on the request but since we live in an apartment housing a pet with us would be......SMELLY!!

About a month ago, Mom Select announced a new campaign for a few Mommy bloggers. I signed up and clear forgot about it, till I received an email confirming I was one of the bloggers chosen to review this new interactive, artificially intelligent, plush toy scheduled to sweep the US market mid August 2009. A few days later, the Fedex truck rolled in with a huge box an inch taller than Bunny girl. Excitedly, we tore open the tabs and WOW! Take a look at what was inside.....

A Zhu Zhu Pet and 6 different play sets!

When we first took the Zhu Zhu pet out of the box, I thought it would be like any other wind up toy but I was wrong. Our Zhu Zhu pet is just like a real hamster MINUS the terrible smell, the need to feed the pet and clean its cage. (Plus I have no qualms about Bunny girl hugging and kissing 'her pet' because she just can't catch anything 'hamster'-ish from it!)

Bunny girl absolutely adores her Zhu Zhu pet and has named it Squeaky. Since Squeaky arrived, there honestly hasn't been a single prayer she has prayed without adding "Thank you God for my pet hamster" (And that just makes me feel sooo guilty for not accommodating to share our space with a real live pet!) She even takes it in her cycle for a ride! Before she goes to bed, she makes sure she lays Squeaky down on his side, on his little bed and then heads off to sleep.


Squeaky has his own little main play set and runs from room to room making cute little noises. A Zhu Zhu pet makes 40 different noises depending on the area it moves to. I've even heard it make cute flushing noises when it nears the bathroom area in its habitat! It's so cute!!

Squeaky regularly exercises on his little wheel, goes for a spin in his big blue ball (This, though, is not my favorite accessory as the ball keeps snapping open), 'zhu'-ooms through his little garage and whizzes out in his little sports car as well! (I know, he's one hep little hamster!)

Never in my wildest of dreams would I have thought having a hamster at home would be so much fun! (Ok, fine! So it's not real... but honestly, get one and you will see how close to the real thing it actually is!).Thanks Mom Select for making my little girl's wish for a pet come true!

You can buy your Zhu Zhu pet off Amazon.com or at your local Toys R Us store or Walmart. I do know more stores will start selling these soon but for now, you can use this list as your reference for prices etc.Win it:
