The winner for the giveaway has been chosen by Random.org and is announced on this post.
Close to 30 years ago, a bubbly blue singing songbook entered Christian circles with children songs that praised Jesus, taught Jesus and shared Jesus love with all who heard the beautiful music. Years down the line, Psalty still lives BIG in the hearts of many.I first watched Psalty dvds when I taught the little kids in our Sunday School back home. At the time I never thought Psalty's songs would impact my life in such a special way. Several years later when Bunny girl was 2 years old I introduced her to Psalty....she loved him and loved the songs!
I always wondered if kids around me knew who Psalty was and sadly I realized not every child had met or heard of this sweet singing songbook. About a month ago I stumbled upon the Psalty website while googling and a few minutes later I was dashing off a quick mail to Psalty's founders Ernie and Debby Retino, never expecting to hear back at all.
Less than a day passed and I received an email. I was thrilled. Psalty had written to me (Ernie signs off as Psalty, isn't that cute?) and a few weeks later, in the post I received a special surprise....a Psalty cd to review- Yay!
If you come check my car even now, you will find that the Psalty cd is in the disk drive and as soon as we start the car, Bunny girl pipes up "Psalty's Music please."

The Kids Praise Album- An Explosion of Happiness is just that...an explosion of happiness! The praise songs are upbeat and fun, our favorite is the first song "Amen, Praise the Lord". In the cd Psalty asks the kids if they will help him sing praises to God and they all shout "YES" and when this happens we always hear Bunny girl chime in "YES" and then joins in with the kids clapping and belting out her highest praise with "Amen, Praise the Lord". (This song is so rhythmic that I find myself humming it in the kitchen several times during the day!)
Other favorites in the cd include If I were a butterfly, Heaven is a wonderful place, Jesus name above all names and the fun Wa Wa song. The cd is interspersed with Psalty talking to the kids and encouraging them that they are somebody to God, they are important and that God loves them and can use them to share His Love.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know this was still around- I sang these songs in Kindergarten over 25 years ago- would love my kids to hear the CD!!!
Got your button on my blog!
ReplyDeleteOh, we had the psalty tapes when I was little but they disappeared during one of the moves when we were older - never saw a video as a kid, but my mom found a DVD and sent it to the kids. They love it! I have to pick up some of the CDs (it would be great to have one to listen to in the car). I remember... wait... Charity the Church Mouse in one tape! hehe. Good times. I remember Seek Ye First the best (I think it might even have been in that tape?) - I was fascinated by the Alleluia descant in the background. :-) Simple but I was just getting into music at the time. Oh, but you wanted a Sunday school song - oh, Rise and Shine is definitely my best memory of that. :-)
ReplyDeleteFave song: Jesus Loves Me.
ReplyDeleteLast year after Christmas was over, my daughter was packing away the ornaments & the Nativity set when she realized baby Jesus was missing. She found Him in my granddaughter's bed but left Him there as her girl had a firm grasp on Him & she didn't want to wake her. Next morning, my granddaughter was singing "Jesus Loves Me and I love Him too" and told her mommy not to pack Him away yet. She wanted Him to come to church with them to hear "Jesus Loves Me". For about two weeks, she took Him everywhere to show everyone Jesus and to tell them He loves everyone. With great reluctance, she finally give Him to her mommy.
I'd love the CD for her. Thanks!
