The winner for the giveaway has been chosen by Random.org and is announced on this post.
Gone are the days when you have to wake up your little one just to take a temperature. Suffering through a fever, waking him/her up only results in crying and the inability to fall back to sleep. You know how stressful that time is and obviously Exergen President Francesco Pompei, knew what he was doing when he developed Exergen's Temporal Artery Thermometer/Scanner.
What is Exergen's Temporal Artery Thermometer?
It's the world's first infrared thermometer that is designed to measure the body temperature by taking a reading from the temporal artery. It is a more accurate means of taking a temperature when compared to the oral, rectal, under the arm and/or ear means. (As proven with a Harvard Medical School study)
How does this work?
Quickly but gently run the thermometer/scanner from the middle of your forehead to the end of your hairline(i.e. where the temporal artery is). The scanner/thermometer
- Captures the natural infrared emitted heat from the arterial blood supply at 1000 frames per second, thereby locking the highest temperature it senses and
- The ambient(or surrounding) temperature of the site where the temperature is taken is then measured.
- The arterial heat balance (AHB) software then synthesizes the two readings to accurately determine the body's temperature.

By God's Grace Bunny girl, Hubby and myself have not had a fever in a while, so we haven't really been able to test the thermometer/scanner in a fever scenario but last evening we spent some time taking each others temperature to check the accuracy and the stated claims of this product. Hubby pointed out the position of the temporal artery on our foreheads so we did the measure a little differently. We didn't run the thermometer from the middle of the forehead to the hairline but instead placed the thermometer directly over the temporal artery. In less than 4 seconds we received our temperature readings accurately. We tried taking our temperatures the suggested way and received the same readings.
I think this is a great product and a must to keep on hand especially now that the children will be all set to go back to school. Knowing how it generally goes, sometime during the year they may walk in feeling a little warm and that's when your convenient Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer will come in handy.
Buy It:
Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer's are now available at Walmart, Walgreens, Target, Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Sam's Club, Costco, Shoppers Drug Mart and online too. You can also get a 5$ rebate on your thermometer/scanner purchase by printing out and sending this form.

Your arterial temperature is the temperature of the blood as it comes from your heart making it the most accurate reading of your internal temperature.
ReplyDeleteI learned you can buy it at Walgreens
ReplyDelete"ambient temperature affects the skin temperature, and so the thermometer automatically measures the ambient temperature at the very same time it is measuring the temperature over the temporal artery. It then can calculate any heat loss (in a normal or cold room) or gain (in a hot room), and instantly computes an accurate body temperature."
ReplyDeleteJennifer, jennem22 at yahoo dot com
A major reason ear thermometers are considered inaccurate by medical professionals is because the positioning of the probe in the ear canal is inconsistent, thus creating inconsistent readings and frequently missing fevers. The temporal artery thermometer scans the forehead area for the temporal artery and it is almost impossible to miss the artery during a scan. Also, the person whose temperature is being taken does not like something inserted in their ear, making good positioning even more difficult. The gentle scan across the forehead is comfortable and not objectionable. The TemporalScanner has been proven more accurate than ear thermometers by a Harvard Medical School study.

The temporal artery is connected to the heart via the carotid artery, directly leading from the aorta, the main trunk of the arterial system. It offers constant blood flow. It is the only such artery positioned close enough to the skin surface to provide access needed to take an accurate measurement.

ReplyDeleteAccuracy, Comfort, and Convenience for Patient and Clinician
I have teens and older children with grandchildren. My daughter in law is a first time mother and the first month of my grandsons life she took his temp daily. She carries a thermometer in her purse.
My daughter who is 17 wants to be a pediatric surgeon and says they learned in her medical skills class that they no longer use rectal or mouth for temps in most medical facilities. So with my grandsons visiting this would be so nice to have at home even my husband could actually read it correctly.
