July 4 2008 was our first 4th of July in the US, so ofcourse we wanted to do everything "4th of July-ish". We did the morning parade in the rain under a huge umbrella, had a yum barbecue at a friend's home and watched the fireworks from her backyard, did the kids rides in the park and got Bunny girl her first set of US flags...after the parade! Bunny girl didn't seem to mind and was thrilled to wave her flags in the car, at home, in the supermarket....wherever she could.
I guess the 4th of July 2008 made an impact on my little 2 year old. Ever since that day, the shirt you see her wearing in this picture was called "my parade shirt" and for a long time she refused to wear it as she said, in no uncertain tone, that the shirt was only for a parade!
My favorite memory of the day was Bunny girl's nap time. She loved the flags she got and refused to put them down even while she napped. She fell asleep holding the flags upright and every time she'd slowly move onto a deeper slumber, the flag would slowly slide down. Instantly she'd wake up and ensure she was holding them upright and then nod off to sleep again. She was determined to ensure the flag stayed upright and this cycle repeated for a long while before she actually dozed off to sleep. I know, I know...she'd make any Patriot proud!
Happy 4th of July All!! Stay safe and have a wonderful day with your family and friends. May God's Hand of Favor rest upon this Land now and always.
