By The Book I guess can be called your child's little instruction manual. I love that it has a segment for anything you can think of but might forget to mention while leaving your child with a caregiver. With instruction logs that include how a child likes his/her food (diced/mashed..), a daily routine planner, location of medicines to be given to a child in case of an allergic outbreak, food limits (yes, even that!), things that are off limits, discipline tools (The authors have really put so much thought into this book as there's a highlighted RED alert section in this segment that firmly states that your child should NEVER be physically disciplined by the caregiver.) and instructions for your pets as well.

I would say By The Book is an extension of you, when you leave your child in someone else's care. A definite recommendation for all parents who leave their children with somebody else, even if on an odd occassion or two. Remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry!
